I didn't see it when I looked. I still can't get it from Radio Shack unless I want to forego $100 from the new every two and I just don't think I can do that. Plus, the Radio Shack here didn't know they were supposed to be getting them. $100 is just too much to give up. It's disappointing, really. All the authorized agents offer the same plans and contracts, you would think they would offer all the same plan features, like the new every two. *sigh*
Thanks for the additional information regarding possible August 2nd week delivery and the info on the top 2500 stores. I guess I was overly optimistic that a July 30th delivery would occur. Looking at the back of the Radio Shack circular, it said "For delivery in home between August 2nd and 5th" I believe. I'm going to have to bail from AT&T Wireless and my POS MPx200 by August 3rd, so hoping my downtime will be minimal. When my phone shows No Service and my girlfriend's Verizon CDMA shows full bars, time for a change! Still amazes me how AT&T can run those GSM commercials with the signal strength being better than anyone with a straight face. Think I'll stop by and talk to my Radio Shack manager after work today and share with him the info y'all have been sharing and see if he's learned anything new. Again, thanks for your posts!
sry about that i thought you can get it from radioshack.com its only avaliable in the in my store version called answers online. here the link if it works http://www.radioshack.com/anso/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&category_name=&product_id=17-1971
oh yea and some smart radioshack web guy pulled a good one. "Expandable memory with SD-compatible removable memory slot" Thats another one on the score board there. If i could i'd fire him.
Thanks a lot for answering my phone call Adam...was about to drive over there from Queens Village / Manhasset Hills since I need to goto Target or Galyans anyway to get a sleeping bag for camping this weekend. Guess I'll be waiting to get it at the reduced price since I'm out of my contract and I'll just renew for another year.
Has anyone seen this: http://www.macminute.com/2004/07/26/motorola Wonder if the v710 will work with this, if so that'll rock!
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2004/jul/26motorola.html direct link to apples annoucement Anywho very intersting but when i get the 710 it won't replace my ipod.
Sit down and take a deep breath. Cleansing breaths...cleansing breaths... If you go back and look at the history of the V710, it was only announced by Motorola in March. The (vague) release date was announced by VZW and Moto last week. It's well known that VZW tells their reps and CSRs very little to nothing about upcoming phones until just before release. Depending on who you'd talk to in the months leading up to the V710 release announcement, it was either "never heard of it", "it's in testing", or "I know it's soon". The problem is that people repeat their "I talked to the rep at my local VZW store" story over and over, and the valid information was getting buried. If you're this frustrated after three weeks, then maybe you should change carriers. As far as phone makes, the V710's been technically "done" for a while now. The delays were spawned mainly by VZW's customizations to the firmware. If you're looking for a scapegoat here, point the finger at VZW. But for all the rumored release dates that have come and gone, VZW never ever said "The V710 will be available on 6/25 (or 7/10, or 7/17, etc.)". Nor did Motorola.
Quick off-topic question, I'm currently an AT&T Member, going M2M, I want to switch to Verizon and get the v710. I am hearing that the phone is coming into Radio Shack possibly before Verizon Stores. What is the drawback going to Radio Shack and signing a contract, as opposed to a VZW Store. My preference though is VZW Store. Can I go to the Verizon store and get the phone repaired? Can I upgrade at a Verizon Store? Anyone know what the drawbacks are? I mean I can always wait another couple of days afterwards (i'm guessing the phone would stick w/ every 2 weeks a phone would be released, Treo 19th, So that would mean Aug 2nd.).
, phone is same price, plans are exactly the same, you can still upgrade later a verizon store. the difference is if the phone needs service during your 1 year manufactures warentty you bring it to radioshack instead of verizon.
However, those of us who are existing Verizon customers out of contract and eligible for NE2 can't buy it at the Shack, unless we want to forfeit our NE2 $100 credit. Stupid Verizon!!
adam, so from the previous page, are you saying that we can call up your radio shack to get the phone and they'll ship to us overnight for $80 bucks?
There is still one unanswered question. Has anyone, who pre-ordered the phone, received a tracking # from UPS or FED-EX verifying the promised delivery date? I am very interested to know the answer to that. It will clarify whether or not RS is getting the phone first. :browani:
well, the sku is definitely working on www.radioshack.com but it's not available by phone or online. it refers you to call one of their stores. i typed my zip and it returned stores in my area that possibly had the phone but you had to call up to verify. i called all of them and they thought i had 2 heads. except for one in nyc, near houston and varick, who said to call up tomorrow so he could check his bill of lading that he gets every wednesday that will tell him what phone shipment is in transit for his receipt on fridays. i even got him to put me on hold to double check and that's the best i could come up with.
Very interesting, if I goto www.radioshack.com and search on v710 it says the phone's available in store, I type in my zip and sure enough it says all the radio shacks around me have it in stock....... no time to follow now (stupid work)
yes, and concerning this NE2 deal, i'm eligible for it, too, but that's another unfair tactic also. what decent phone costs $100 or less nowadays w/o any promotion for being a new customer, etc.? they should call it HDCE2. (Hundred Dollar Credit Every Two....) i believe it's a nice incentive but not realistically customer friendly. feature packed phones (upon first release) are usually over $200 bucks.
Went to RS a little bit ago. You can purchase it in the store for home delivery now for $519. It will be delivered directly to you for free. Don't know when you will get it. For another $80 you can get it next day. Then you need to take it in to get activated. Or according to the guy I spoke with, seemed knowledgeable, it should be available in the store Friday for $319. I believe you can also get the $70 rebate. Doesn't seem worth the extra bucks to get it a couple days earlier. Personally I will wait for them to come to my local VZW store. I originally purchased my first phones at RS and they screwed me over big time. Not in too big of a hurry to give them any of my money.
Well, just to ask something other than "When's it coming out?" I currently have a Jabra Freespeak headset for non-Bluetooth phones...i.e., the one that has it's own Bluetooth transmitter which plugs into the phone's 2.5mm jack and a seperate bluetooth-enabled headset. Does anyone know if I'll be able to use the headset with the V710? In other words, should the headset itself work with any BT-enabled phone (obviously, the more specific question is "should it work with the V710)? --David
Yes, It will work fine. You will have to establish a partnership betwen the earpiece and the phone, itself.
Like the previous poster said, the answer is yes. Here's the answer right from Jabra's FAQ for the Jabra for non-Bluetooth phones. http://www.jabra.com/fscs/NBFreeSpeak_FAQ.html#13
Getting the phone early will give you the 2-3 days bragging rights. On monday and tuesday everybody will have one.
According to the person I spoke with at RS, they should be in the stores on Friday. That is for Radio Shack. I don't know about VZW stores, but don't imagine they will let RS get that much of a headstart over them.
I was going back in this topic....but it is so big. Can somebody tell me if my current T720 Moto charger will still work with this new V710 model? I need a new car charger now, but won't buy one unless I know I can use it with the new phone! Thanks, Wendy
Yes it will work. I emailed Moto and asked this exact question and they confirmed that all the chargers will work.
