I'm considering purchasing a Motorola v635 GSM phone.
    1)Any cons to consider?

I checked a review and learned that purchasing an unlocked, unbranded phone may not be easy re. getting the features to work.

    2) what is GPRS setting?

    3)what is mms setting?

4)what is P2Kman and XV132? If I mess up does it really render the phone useless?

Please reply in simple terms as this is my first phone.
Considering unlocked GSM for international travel.

    Thank you for any info:)

Not really, the v635 is a great phone, from what I understand. A step up from my v620, which I love!
The settings which identify which wireless web you will use, for example, if you have T-Mobile, these would be the T-Zones settings.
Multimedia Message Service. These are the settings for your picture and video messages, they vary by carrier, like the wireless web.
These are programs used to alter the software of your phone. You do not need these to update your GPRS or MMS settings. These programs are for advanced users to change the software. If you want more information on this process, called flashing or flexing, read Jay's Reference Base for Modding Motorola Phones, located at the top of the Motorola forum. It is possible, when flashing/flexing your phone to turn it into a paperweight but again, you would not need to do this to update your settings.

You should be able to find the Cingular or T-Mobile settings easily by searching this forum.
