Here's CONFIRMED information from inside Motorola about the next v60, scheduled for October (at this point):

The v60e (CDMA: Verizon & Alltel) will have/be:
    -- CDMA2000 1x
    -- Burst speed to 288 Kb/s
    -- GPS capable
    -- J2ME & Brew Capable
    -- E-911 ready
    -- Stub antenna (Non-extending)
-- Internal screen similar to the quality of the v66
-- Screen background color selectable: Green, Red or Blue Indiglo
    -- Downloadable ringtone capability
-- Individual ringstyle: choose melody for specific incoming caller IDs
-- Retains compatability with all accessories and v60i faceplates

The price point may be a little higher than that of the v60c/i, but is still TBD.

Current release date is October. See if it changes along the way....... I recommend WAITING for the v60e if you are contemplating a v60i purchase.

By then, the full-install-car-kit problems will likely be solved as well.

Motorola has NO plans to release the phone in TDMA format, as GSM is poised to replace those proprietary networks in the USA.

    1) Yes, it will still havethe external display. The rep with whom I spoke said he was looking at a picture of it, and it looks almost exacyly like the v60i. This makes sense, as their intention is to add capability, not change the physical shape, so it is backward compatible with all currently available accessories.

RUMORS have speculated that it may even have a new 2-line external display... We shall see!!

    2) No info on Motorola's site: Not surprising. Motorola typically will NOT officially release new equipment info while still trying to maintain sales of the current model (v60i). If they told people that the "E" was being released relatively soon, don't you thingk "I" sales would drop off?
