Here's the deal with stupid broken antennas. This phone is great, has a lot of cool features. But the antenna is made of paper napkins. It broke off in my pocket. Very inconvenient. But before you go off and spend all this money to ship it. Call Motorola 1-800-331-6456. Go thru the menu and get a listing of available service centers. They'll take a look @ your phone and see if the one-year warranty is up or not. It's marked in a special code as to when it was made. (If that date is before the time that you bought it, you'll have to bring in your receipt.) It's a free service. They'll bill Motorola. After that one-year you're on your own. The only thing is DO NOT modify your phone. If it is any different condition (like if you get pissed off and throw the thing or try to fix it on your own) they will not honor the warranty. The repair takes like 2 minutes for them to screw a new antenna on. However, if you don't have a service center with on-site repairs (stupid cuz they don't do nothing but unscrew the darn thing) then they'll have to send it out for you. That's really inconvenient cuz you won't be able to use your phone for awhile. Anyways I found all this out after I ordered one of those steel caps on e-bay. Cost me 6 bucks plus 6 bucks shipping. I'll let everyone know how that works when i get it.
From what I've heard, you can't replace the antenna on your V60c with the one from the V60i. According to some, the "collar" at the base of the V60i's antenna (which is what makes it sturdier) cannot be retrofitted onto older V60 models. After taking a closer look at my V60i, the collar does not appear to be part of the actual casing, so I'm not sure how valid that opinion is. That said, if you could indeed replace the entire antenna assembly, I'm sure we'd be hearing a lot more about in this forum. -Adam
I have a replacement housing for the v60c. Does anybody know if Verizon will do this type of service?
The V60i antenna -WILL- work on the V60C When I went to upgrade my firmware last month, I asked the cust. rep. about the v60i antenna... He said he didn't know. So, I told him to sell me one with the base, and I'll try to put it on myself. He ended up giving it to me for free, and I installed it without a problem at home. But be careful, you will need to open up the entire phone to get to the base of the antenna. The Verizon wireless store wouldn't because they weren't allowed, I was told.
Oh yeah... and one other thing... The antenna and base came in a sealed motorola "accessories and aftermarket division" bag with a barcode and this code on it: RLN5474A
Some Verizon stores will replace the v60c antenna with a v60i model. Mine did it in few minutes for $10. I guess it depends on whether the store is authorized to open the phone. Scott
Anonymous...Is there anyway you could get the V60i and base for me form your local dealer? I tried calling Verizon customer service as well as local dealers, no one will seems to be willing to provide it for me. Let me know, and i will talk you offline about it.
the store i work at (as a svc tech) has hem, and they should be covered underthe one year warrenty, take like 5 minutes or less, and its the V60i style (with te new collar). and we are authorized by motrola to make repaires to the phones, there is a cert test that we had to take. as for the war. code on the phones ESN, thats true, we can tell wen the phone was made, but there is anothe way with our your recept for us t find out when it was boought. just take it into your local store and they will help you, andwont leave you without phone.
oh yeah, by the way,the belt clip that comes with the phone should be used. putting it into your pocket will break it, and to tell the truth, it voids the war. cuz your not using it as directed. i have made people pay for it when they tell me that, even if the phone is just a month old.
My motorola v60 antenna broke off when i pulled it up. Any ideas where to fix it, can you fix it at verison.
I remember my antenna used to break on my old V60t. I paid $30 to fix it at my local store a few times, but the last time it broke I was only 2 months away from my upgrade, and I didn't want to put another $30 into it just to replace it in 2 months, so I superglued the antenna back on the phone.
You can still buy the antenna for that phone. See: Retractable Antenna For Motorola V60,V60c,V60g,V60i - V60 Series Antenna royc
Finding local parts for a phone that old is going to be tough. Maybe a store has some old stock lying around, but chances are if they sold out they wouldn't reorder it. Your best bet is to either order the parts on the internet, or go to a thrift store and buy another V60 for a few dollars, and take whatever parts you need from it. -Jay
