I'd like to know what the difference is from the 551.

    Phonescoop lists the 551 and the 557 as the same: "Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557 "

I just spoke with a very knowlegeable CSR today and we both agree that the V551 and the V557 are the same phone, just different software. When I upgrade my phone soon I will probably try and experiment with putting V557 software on my V551 and confirm it. As far as I can tell the only difference is the zero click internet access ticker. All other specs & features appear to be the same.

I am currently using the V557 from Cingular. Got to say I like it. My previous phone was the Black Razr, like that phone a lot too. But I think technologically the V557 is better. The V557 uses Edge technology and I like the media net ticker. Battery life is also better than my razr was, getting about 4 days out of charge. Biggest problem I have had so far with the V557 is finding information about modding it and stuff, not a lot of stuff out there yet. Probably becuase the phone is so new. But I have already figured out how to load wallpapers and ringtones using P2K commander. For the price good phone.

Can someone using the v557 please tell me how to pay my bill using the phone? I used to have the LOSER v220 and I just went to my account in the menu and went to pay bill. None of which I can find in the v557 menu. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Not to mention the v400, v600, v620 and probably others. Different software versions and different cases but the same FCC ID, meaning the same internal parts, which I find interesting.

Query FCC ID IHD/T56DR1 and see how many phones you get... it's a lot.

I think its something simple like dialing *PAY or something like that. I have an autopay set up so I don't do it through the phone.

I didn't know that about the zero click internet access ticker. I read that the only difference was that the v557 had push to talk and the v551 does not...that was on a website with cingular. Im trying to find out the difference in the v551 and the v555?? anyone know?? I am upgrading to a gsm cell and Im not sure which one to get..they all look the same to me. I had a nokia 3560 and it worked great until they upgraded the network and digital cell phones just don't work well now. I decided to try a motorola this time. any suggestions? I had a mot v400 and had alot of trouble with the volume..and I heard there is a problem with that with most of the v400's.

    differences are subtle...

the v400 has a 4 way keypad button... the 551 and 557 have 5 way

the v400 is slightly heavier at 123g vice the 114g of the other 2

the v400 battery is 700 mAh Li-Ion and the other 2 are 820 mAh Li-Ion this also means the 551 and 557 have a longer talktime

all three are cameraphones.. but the 551 and 557 do short videos as well

interesting that someone said the 557 was PTT.. I'm looking at the specs at the moto site... no PTT for the 557...nor the other 2

the 557 has an imbedded client for AOL / ICQ / Yahoo! where the other 2 do not

Yes, the V557 is basically an updated version of the V551.

Actully, the V551 has PTT on it as well. Cingular has it disabled because its not compatible w/ their system.
