This is commercial software that you have to pay for. It is not a free download. But I suspect you know that. You should move on to other forums that will be more receptive to your requests for pirated software.

    Agreed with bonoriffic.

You can by a legitimate copy of Mobile Phone Tools online at the bvrp.com site that I posted earlier in the thread, or indeed at numerous other legitimate online phone accessory dealers. Just google for Mobile Phone Tools and you should get dozens of options.

You could probably find a pirated version somewhere on the web, since just about anything else that can be pirated seems to be available, but I don't think anyone here is going to help you break the law....

I bought a version on Ebay that was about 15.00 and I downloaded it with no problems & got all the updates fine. Whether or not it was legit, as the seller stated I can't verify, but he was a Moto reseller by the other items he was selling. So if you want give that a try as well.

If you purchased this software electonically you may be able to download it again. Otherwise, it is very much illegal to download this software from any other site even if you already own a copy.

I hate buying software electronically - did that once and I am not sure I'll ever do it again. I got CoolEdit 2000 which is a music editing software used to clean up old audio. Unfortunately, about 6 months after I purchased it, the company was bought over by Adobe and they nixed that product line. Then I had a hard disk meltdown and Adobe doesn't have the old software for re-download - they want me to upgrade to their pro version that of course is about 5 times as expensive and has features that I don't need. If I had paid a couple of bucks extra to buy a CD, I wouldn't have had this problem.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I have no problem downloading programs, but I save them to my desktop, then I burn them on a CD. Next, I install from the CD (if anything doesn't work right I know right away and can redownload and reinstall). I have the CD for hard disk crashes, etc. they're inevitable and you always need a backup. In this age of instant gratification, this is a good way to get what you want and make sure you have it again in the future WHEN YOU NEED IT.

EDIT: By the way, I downloaded the Phone Tools program from Motorola ($29.99 now) and it installed perfectly and I was able to load my favorite songs as ringtones(!) right out of the mp3 files on my computer. I also have a backup CD incase I need to reinstall.

Yeah... those were the days when I didn't have a CD burner on my machine...... I am probably dating myself with that comment... lol...

Now, I have converted almost entirely to Linux, so I don't really have a problem with application availability...

That's great! But for others who might want to download but are afraid--my recommendation is worth a second look. My advice is whatever you do, just burn a CD so you have a record incase something doesn't work out. If you don't have a CD/DVD burner, then you should order the manufacturer's CD and WAIT until you can install the application on your system. Or, if you really can't wait then you need to find a friend with a CD burner that will download the software you want and burn it to a CD for you.

Not really I remember when computers didn't have cd burners. I even remember back when they used 5.25" floppies.

I also make backups of software that I download, and then I can also install it on another computer if I want to.

Back with 5.25" floppy drives? Windows 3.11 and Windows 95b. That would have been over ten years ago.

    Ever heard of MSDOS???

By the way, I may be the only person on the board who started programming on mainframes using punched cards. I didn't see a dumb terminal until my senior year in college - never touched a PC until grad school (and that was with MSDOS).... saw my first windows PC in the 3rd year of my job after grad school.

Doing my best grumpy old man impersonation here.....

Yep, you young whippersnappers with your laptops and your cell phones.... back in my day, we used to write programs in assembly language and translated the hex from core dumps to get the answers.... :browani: :D

Yes I remember MSDOS, the only truely stable OS. I even played with a Trash 80 and I have some 7" floppies laying around. Ah the good old days. :)
