I just got the update for the Motorola software update client (version C01.11.46) and it has an extra line that says...

"- Motorola Software Update will verify if your device is in warranty prior to proceeding with an update."

It won't update any of my old V3Ms now. Anyne else know about this? Am I S.O.L for doing my own updates now?

I am moving this to the Motorola forum where it's better suited for getting replies versus it being in the Verizon forum.

That is pretty insane. moto wont update a phone firmware because it is out of warranty?!? Does that not defeat the entire purpose of firmware updates? Why are they screwing early adopters over like that?

It doesn't make sense, unless this is something Verizon asked for. Maybe people were putting off buying new phones because they were updating themselves? I'm sure you can still update the firmware manually, but that's not as quick & easy as the old update tool.

True. I'm just using the Motorola multi-flex flash tool instead.
