It opens up a lot of possibilities, but here are what I think are the two biggest: 1. It may open up the market to some non-Motorola phone models, but that would be based on the next possibility... 2. iDEN would be altered, modified, or ditched so that companies wouldn't have to buy the license to use it in their phones off of Motorola. It depends on whether Nextel wants to take any chances or is happy with the status quo.
Ummmm, actually, Microsoft already has an interest in Nextel from a few years ago when they loaned them a butt load of money. Part of that deal is why Microsoft has exclusive rights with Nextel to do all of their mobile web stuff.
