I will be getting a "Motorola RAZR V3i" and I was wondering how am I going to download the music off of my computer to my phone. Is there a certain format they have to be in, and also if I can make them be my rigntones. Thanks...
Keeping in form with the V3m, Windows Media Player 10 can sync to your phone and dl songs to the phone. You will, of course, need to get a mini-usb data-cable for the phone. Use can also but Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) off of ebay/amazon etc.. and a very cheap price. MPT comes with a cable. Unless something has DRASTICALLY changedwith Motorola Music Essential Kit, stay away from it. I have not heard of many people having very good luck with it. IF you are getting this phone through Verizon, the phone will probably be crippled. VZW wants you to PAY them to download songs, ringtones, etc... to your phone. If you have VZW as your provider, you may have to SEEM the phone to get a lot of the functions back. There is instructions in the RAZR thread and at this wiki. Even though the site is dedicated to V3m's, it will give you a good starting point and idea of what you have to do to get things to work/function properly. http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php There is a number of ways to convert .mp3's to .mid ringtones. The easiest is rename them from .mp3 to .mid. BUT there is a lot of considerations you have to keep in mind about this also. If you have VZW, then the phone will ring for ~30seconds before it transfere over to you voicemail. So the converted from .mp3 to .mid ringtones should not play longer than 30 seconds. MPT can help you slice and dice songs to make them into ringtones. Lots of into to take in and a lot more info to give you. Your best bet is to visit the thread and site I mentioned above and if you have any questions, then just ask away.
i believe the razr v3i is a gsm cingular phone. the v3i has iitunes software making it very easy to sync. just plug it in and it will auto sync once itunes is installed(unless you already have it).
Is it really GSM? Thanks for the heads up. If that is the case, you do not have to worry about SEEM'ing the phone make it work. I would still use the MPT on it, though. Real good software, specifically for Motorola phones.
Yeah, I know how you feel. These new CDMA moto's don't follow the same rules that the GSM phones do, so I've pretty much stopped answering questions on them because I've ended up wrong too many times. -Jay
