I just got off of the phone with my sources at Alltel and here is what i found out: The Silver V3m has been taken off of the website and out of stores but is still available for a LIMITED time if you call Alltel. The Fire Red V3m will still be available for purchase for $29.99 after rebates. The Silver V3m is being replaced by the Black V3a with the new MEI Mobile Equitment Identification numbers [14 digits] the first phone for alltel with that i.d [MEI is replacing ESN because they have run out of ESN numbers] This V3a is actually a downgraded razr. Is sports no celltop, a vga camera, no evdo, and no mini sd slot. One plus is it has a bigger battery. The V3a is $149.99 before rebates and $49.99 after. The V3a is not on Alltel's website but is available if you call in. The V3a will be on the website soon and coming to a store near you! Personally im not at all impressed with this model and dont see why they didnt just slap the MEI's on the V3m models. Well there is your info^ enjoy:biggrin: THE V3A WHOO HOO!! Looks the same as the V3m just black! Click Here for the picture
hmm. your post kinda came off as rude to me, i read that thread and it was scattered. I put it all toghether and added a few things you left out and posted it here.
Re: Anyone? I really don't think it's going to go over well with the type of people that generally use this site. As you mentioned, it's basically a downgraded Razr with a VGA camera, no EVDO, no SD slot, etc. This will probably be a more popular choice for people that just walk into the store, want a cool looking phone and see a black Razr that's not too expensive. It's new, it's black, it does look nice, and it's a Razr. So I think it will go over well and somebody will eventually get one to write about it, but I don't think it will be any of the regulars that visit this site.
If it came off as rude, I apologize. The post was tongue-in-cheek, perhaps but it was not my intent to be rude. I'm not too impressed with it. It's a black RAZR without EV-DO, a VGA camera and it's the same price as the V3m. It has the same menu, etc. It doesn't even support Celltop, which some people like but I don't. Why regress? I suppose, since they'll be getting the RAZR2 in a few months, Alltel figure they can have a less expensive, less feature-rich RAZR and still sell it as well as the V3m since the people who would have bought a V3m or K1m will buy the RAZR2. I would have used the V3a longer but there really isn't a reason to do so. If you've used a RAZR, you basically understand the V3a. IMHO the V3a would look better if you took the black keypad from the V3m and put it in the black V3a instead of having a silver keypad. I could write more, UFO, but it sort of seems like it'd be a waste of time.
Just all in all a crappy phone and a rip off for the price.. oh well.. it happens with every carrier.
