Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

First of all, thanks to everyone for the enormous amount of help, you guys are awesome.
Secondly, none of your suggestions worked :p. I did, however, find a solution from a coworker, so I figured I'd post it lest someone else run into the same problem.

Okay, so assuming you're at the stage where you can play the songs on your RAZR but can't set them as ringtones, you need to get BitPim, turn on the filesystem option (view -> view filesystem), and after it loads up, delete the following two files: MyToneDB.db and TmpTneDB.db. Then disconnect your phone and turn it off, remove the battery, wait 10 seconds, and replace the battery. This resets the phone's ringtone regestry, and it loads up every single file in the /audio folder as a ringtone. Hope this was clear enough.

t2easy, thanks for the info about the java games, however you are one of the lucky ones who has java on their phone, and most of the cdma razrs do not have java and therefore cannot get free games. So enjoy them!

deathmoose, this is a very long thread so I know it's tough to get the important information out of it, but I do believe that is mentioned in here somewhere. It's good that it's brought up again though since it can probably be said hundreds of times in a seventy page thread and still missed. I have to disagree with you though about the suggestions not working. I read this thread all the way through before posting any questions, and although I had questions along the way I held them in and kept reading and everything was solved... by the time I finished reading the thread my phone was up and running doing nearly everything I could (and couldn't) have imagined. So the answers are in here somewhere, but I know they're hard to find.

In that case I guess I have one question....by SEEM editing and enabling the Java Apps Menu option, this does not give me any additional "Java Apps/Loader" menu/option anywhere on the Sprint v3m phone. Since this phone does support Java, is there something that needs to be done besides the SEEM edit to get this to display? Or is my work around above the only option?

T2, I really think there is a way to upload games to work fully, without haveing to overwrite. I will try and find info out, it might just be using the seem edit for the java app loader, but since i too dont have that phone, I cannot try myself.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Hi All,

Has anyone else tried using a Motorola H350 bluetooth headset with a Verizon V3M phone? I have the strangest problem with mine...

Whenever I sync it up with the phone, I can place calls just fine. But when I have an incoming call, I can answer it with the headset, but the caller cannot hear me. When I switch the audio back to the phone, suddenly the caller can hear me on the phone... but (this is the weird part) when I switch back to the headset again, the headset is working fine. This is an odd problem, and I have a feeling its related to outdated firmware or some such thing. I just have a hard time believing that Motorola's own headset product will not work with their phone.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    - C

Cincyball: I have been looking all over and found a set of instructions and java installer software that I am going to try out however I do recall reading something stating that it wont work with the v3m.... I dunno, its worth a shot but any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Update: I gave the MIDLet App Loader a try but it will not work with my Sprint v3m. The software says connected and then just freezes. The more searching I did the more prevelant it became that this app would not function correctly with my v3m. Does any one have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

    Re: i'm so freaking lost

So the TF and the mSD are the same thing. I suggest, like I have done is to go onto eBay and buy a mSD card from someone for like 10.00. Mine is only a 512mb but i suggest just going with the 1gb for practically the same price. Also the Razr 3Vm does not play the MP3 format, use WMP to convert to WMA. Or what I have done since I havn't gotten Verizon's Music Essencials Kit is put the card in my SD drive and added music to the MY Music folder. Its an easy process but you have to convert the files before you add them, cuz i havn't figured out how to configure WMP 11 to convert MP3 to WMA to a storage device like that automatically. I've been using "Free Mp3 Wma Converter" from CNet. It's a nice tool....but the entire process or converting and moving is a pain in the butt, but it's what i gotta do to add music to my V3m.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Lewie, I am not sure why it will not update. It sounds like a conflict with your computer rather than with your phone. You can try going into the c:program files/motorola phone tools and clicking the Live Update icon, and see if that works.

However, if u get it to update, or you already have version 4.21a or 4.36, then you will need to follow this thread to get it to recognize your phone.

    http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/56369-motorola-phone-tools-doesnt-work-razr.html

The phone will NOT work right out of the box. You MUST hack the phone per the first two pages of that link.

    Hey Cincyball,

Well I have downloaded pk2, seem edit program also.
I did try my first edit which enabled vibrate the ring...That worked.
then tried three more edits which did not seem to work.
    1-remove orange outside banner (2742 0094 uncheck bit7)
    2-(2742 006a check bits 0 & 1) to allow usb transfers
    3-(2827 0006 check bits 0,2,3 & 6) to allow MMS

When I start MPT, the is no Icon for MMS options.

WELL, just tried connecting phone to lap top instead of my pc and thereis the MMS icon.why is it not on my pc?

    thanks

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Hey Cincyball,

The other thing is that my original phonebook backup was from a Nextel iDen phone. How do you up load to the Razr.

Also removed the driver for the phone on my pc and when I started MPT again it reloaded and it works on both computers now.

Ugly orange screen is still there.. I thought by making that change the outside screen will display the same as the inside one

    Thanks again

Also is there a hack to change the left, right and up icons on the main screen. Verizon will only let you change the down one

If I'm not mistaken, I believe you would need to flash your phone to the Alltel firmware which gives you more control over your phone.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I have seem edited the V3c to read V3mm and now MPT will not read my contact and calender. I have tried to change the phone to CDMA generic by reading other thread, though it still will not read. acutally it trys to read, but says "Need to freeup the memory" which is very strange to me.
Im sure same question has been posted and answered, but I counld not yet find the advice I need now.
also I have trouble with Bluetooth earpiece from SONY to get disconnected due to weak signal... is there any way to keep it connected?
I appreciate anyones help on these problems.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Why did u seem edit your v3c into a v3mm? That would be your problem right there. You SHOULD have turned it into a v3cm... You need to go into that seem 2827 and change it from v3mm to v3cm and savethe seem file back to your phoen and see if that helps. Also, what version of MPT are u using?

As for the bluetooth headset, there is no way to force stronger signals, etc...either it works or it doesnt

Make sure you're doing the right seem (it should have some writing next to it, I THINK) and go back in to p2kseem and make sure your seem stuck. Remember you have to save to phone after editing.... if it didn't stuck, try doing it again, remember to save to phone.

Have u tried creating a new profile SINCE chnaging the phone ID string to v3cm? B/c TECHNICALLY it is a different phone being connected to MPT, so it wwill detect it differently....and hopefully properly.

A while ago MPT used to disable those features on the v3c b/c there was a bug that would ruin the phone. I wonder if this is the case...what software version do u have on ur v3c??? u might be able to use a program called BitPim to successfully backup your contacts...maybe ur calendar too, but i think jsut contacts. or u can use PST to backup your contacts.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Need a little help here. I loaded a couple of skins into my Alltel V3M. All was well till suddenly the screen went black, all except the very top where the signal strength and battery charge are shown. If I close the phone, I see the wallpaper on the cover screen but when I open it, nothing! I have searched and searched and find nothing except to use motokit. I found motokit and downloaded it but there is no help pages or documentation I can find to use it plus, it is written in some foreign language!

The phone works, I can press the voice activated button and call out of my phone book and I can dial out, I just have a black screen! When I power off and on, the Shutdown and Startup screens appear along with their associated sounds.

    Can anyone help? Please???

Try going in with p2kcommander and deleting the skin that made it go bad. You can delete the contents of the folder with p2kcommander and then delete the empty folder with bitpim (for some reason p2k won't delete empty folders, and bitpim won't delete the full ones for me - although it might work for you). Do this with the phone turned off. Then boot it back up and see if it's taken care of.
