Hi, first_timer here. I would like to offer one of my 100% original .gif animations to use as a substitute for the V3m opening or closing animation.
Did I mention that it is 100% free?

Just a thank you for the education I have received from the wonderful people who haunt this site.

If u would liek that (or any .gif) to replace your startup/shutdown animations currently on your phone, it is easy to do. There is more info here -> http://www.motov3m.com/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=CustomAnim

Right click on the animation and choose 'Save picture as...'. Then give it a name and you have it on your computer.

** Anyone mod a verizon v3m, and have success (or failure) charging it with usb afterwards? **

I need to know if my usb will still charge my phone once i begin to mod it. I've heard that some features will no longer work for various reasons.

Sorry if this has already been asked (61 pages + is a bit to wade through), but I'm having a heck of a time with my V3c RAZR. I can get phone tools up and running, and it works fine, except it will only transfer music over to my phone as audio files, and I can't set them as ringtones. Is there a quick fix for this, or has it been blocked for some reason?

Re: wma's from internal memory to headset in v3m

So it sounds like u want to add a full song to listen to? Instead of a ringtone which is only 30 seconds? If so, you will only be able to put about 4 or 5 songs on the PHONE before the memory is full. Thats why it is smart to put full SONGS on the memory card, and put small RINGTONES on the phone memory. However, if you still want to do this, you will need to sync your phone with Windows Media player in order to access the correct folder ('my_)music'). This will convert your mp3 into WMA to be played in the media player. Ringtones MUST be MP3 or MIDI and be put in the 'audio' folder. Songs MUST be put in the 'my_music' folder and be in WMA format.

Are they in MP3 format? If so, which folder are you putting them in? They need to be in the PHONE's memory, and more specifically, in the /motorola/shared/audio folder. What version of Motorola Phone Tools are u using?

can u play it on the phone?

I dont think u will see it in the file system, becuase if u could, u could just add music straight to it bypassing wmp, and i think verizon has it set that way on purpose. However, I do know there is a 'my_music' folder on the card.

Well, the first animation didn't stir up much dust. It was over the 320kb limit and couldn't be used anyway. Here is one I made for my own 'communication devise'.

I've tried .mp3 and .mid files. I can play them on my phone just fine, but they can't be set as ringtones. My version of phonetools is version 4.3.6c.

Really hope I'm just missing something silly here.

Can you play the song on your computer? Just checking to see if you've done what you were aiming to do successfully. And if so, you're just trying to find the file for sh*ts and giggles? Or do you have something you want to do that required you to find the file? If you tell us what you're trying to do we may be able to help you more.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Just to clarify, I have the files in the /motorola/shared/audio folder, and they show up in the phone's "sounds" menu, but unlike the stock ringtones, there's no "set as ringtone" option, and they don't show up in any of the menus for choosing a ringtone.

If it helps, it's a Canadian phone (I hear they're different) and my provider is Telus.

I have never used a Telus Razr, but what my guess is is that you may need to do a seem edit.

Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0, Offset 75, Bit 4 - Apply As Ring Tone Menu Option - Check to Disabled, uncheck to Enabled

Yes, you can do it with a few programs. I have answered this question before, so I will link you to the post.

    http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/419252-post2.html

If u need the link to download the two programs I listed, you can get them here -> http://www.hacktherazr.com/downloads.html When you download them, click the ICON for the program instead of the DOWNLOAD button. For somereason, the link is broken on the latter.

    Hi All,

It has been a while since I have posted. I have the V3M and for the life of me I cannot remember how to delete locked files, ie pictures. Can someone please direct me to where I can find the info on this. Very much appreciated.

Sorry for having a senior moment.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Yeah, Telus and the whole "set as ringtone" thing have issues. Here's a thread where it was covered, and I believe the solution worked, at least for some people, so it's definitely worth a try:

    http://www.hacktherazr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1662&highlight=telus+mpt

    The important part being:

It seems with the Telus razr (ones sold recently at least, bought mine 1 week ago), if you want the option of "apply as ringtone" to show up, you have to go in P2K commander, find the audio folder and set attributes of your transfered mp3's 0004. Same as the original ringtones. Otherwise it won't allow you to set your own mp3's as ringtones.

Let me know if it works!

You need to use BitPim. You can search around here for info if u have a hard time getting it connected. But once u do, go to a/motorola/shared/picture and u will be able to delete all the stock pictures u want.

    Cincyball

Thanks. It has been a while since I used bitman I completely forgot. I thought there was a way to UNLOCK the files and make them deleteable via the phone itself.

Anyway thanks as always for your help. You have made this thread a valuable asset for us V3M owners.

    Regards,
    Joe:)

Yea, no way to unlock to delete from the phone's menu. Gotta delete via BitPim. You can delete pics u have put on the phone or taken with the camera with the phones menu, but any stock ones must be done with a program that can access the picture folder.

Thanks for the kind words, it's nice to give back what I have learned from this place.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Hi All,
First time posting in any forum however I have been modding/hacking my (gunmetal) Sprint PCS CDMA v3m phone now for many hours/days and I came across a way to upload any java game that you want to the phone. There are some limitations but I have confirmed this to work successfully and easily.

I was researching the file structure of the phone after I installed a free "trial" game and came across the "/motorola/shared/jas/content/" folder which kept the .jar and .jad files. By using BitPim, you can browse to the "/motorola/shared/jas/content/" folder and you will see the *.jar and *.jad files.
    In my case I had:
    7.jar
    7.jad
    5.jar
    5.jad
    etc...

I was able to tell what files belonged to each game by checking the filesize of each game on the phone in KB (under properties) then I used BitPim to see the filesize of the *.jar files in bytes. (42KB in phone properties displayed as 43008bytes in BitPim) I then found out what crappy trial game I wanted to sacrifice and used the "Overwrite" feature to replace the 7.jar and 7.jad files. When you do this it will keep the links/database in tact so you can run the game but it will use the original game "name" on the phone. So in reality I replaced "Paper Airplane Trial" with the game "Zuma" but my game listing still displays "Paper Airplane". Currently there is no way to correct the game name but when I ran "Paper Airplane"...........Zuma booted up fine and I was playing in a matter of seconds.

It sucks that you cannot change the name of the game on the phone to display correctly but this is a great workaround until then.

Please try this out and let me know how it works for you!!

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

One thing that I am noticing is that it seems like the games for the most part work great (some here and there do not work) but the sound does not function at all....maybe someone will have some ideas regarding this at a later date but I guess what can you expect for free. For the most part it looks like a great way to get java games on the phone, sound or no sound.
