Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Ok, dont panic, this is a very easy fix :) WHat u need to do is, set your ringer to silent. Onceu do that, delete any of the songs u dont want with p2kcommander. (dont worry, we are fixing your prob). Once u delete them, TECHNICALLY the phone thinks they are still there. So what we need to do is delete the master ringtone index fro mthe phone, and then restart the phone. It will re-populate the files ON the phone by checking them. The way to do this is go into p2kcommander, and look for the file named MyToneDB.db, it should be in the a/ folder (root) of the phone. So once u deleted the songs u dont want anymore, and delete that DB file, disconnect your phone, restart the phone. The phone will create its UP TO DATE list of songs on the phone, and this will fix your ring style menu. It got messed up b/c the phone was still looking for the files u deleted, it never updated on the fly. That is what happens with p2kcommander. Hence the reason MPT is so nice when adding files...it auto-ipdated the phone's ringtone list (but unfortunately u cannot delete this way). The last thing of note is, all of your ring details will be reset, but u can go back in and change them as u want. Sorry for the long winded response.

no no no! do not apologize! You have always been nothing short of amazing with your help! that is exactly what i needed to know. i was pretty sure thats what i needed to do but wanted to double check. however i just deleted all the stock ringtones and then deleted mytonedb.db while in "all off" and then unplugged and restarted my phone. when i turned it on though all the songs are still there they just dont play anymore. it sounds like a short static noise when i click on them. on p2k it says they are still on my phone and so is MyToneDB.db which i know i deleted. is there something else that keeps regenerating these files after i delete them??

yea, the mytonedb.db file will be re-installed so to say once u restart ur phone. try deleting it again, this time with the TmpToneDB.db (or similar), and see if that helps. If not, Mark Venture has another fix (one i never needed, but I can point you to)

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Well its working....sort of. I didnt have time to finish because i had to go to class ( where i am now haha)
When i pull up p2k i went the audio folder, and selected songs to delete. the 1st song i delete seems to actually delete, while its deleting the phone restarts. the rest of the files i delete in that session however dont do that. when i delete MyToneDb.db and turn off and turn back on my phone, the 1st song i had deleted stays deleted but the other songs are still there. i realized this after doing it 3 or 4 times, that basically it deletes one song every time i do this whole process, so to delete all the songs i need in order to correct this ring detail problem, i have to do this whole process about 14 times. this seems a little tedious. is there some reason that in my case it is doing this?

p.s. i dont have p2k on my laptop so i cant quote directly right now, but when i try to delete the other files after that 1st ringtone each time, the remaining files say something in the log like:
    " Deleting a/motorola/shares/audio/bells
    OI: [insert]failed!
    USB: [insert] failed!
    OI: [insert]failed!
    USB: [insert] failed!
    Vol size failed!"

I dont remember off the top of my head what it said failed but i didnt know what it meant when i read it. but the songs disappear like they had been successfully deleted. but like i said when i restart my phone only the 1st one from that sesion actually disappears. i dont get it

Are you selecting all of them at once? If so, p2kcommander is buggy and doesnt like to try multiple operations at once. So pick one, hit delete (keep an eye on available memory to see if ti gets higher and u will know whether it deleted off the phone or not). This SHOULD solve u problem. Delete one, pick another delete that, pick another, and so on. THEN after, delete the mytonesdb.db file. Then reset ur ringtone list one time. That SHOULD solve it, good luck! :)

It looked like you were typing "mini sd"? Just so u know, this phone takes MICRO sd, very different... but if u have the corrrect card, or even if u dont, the slot is (with the battery removed), to the right... n/m, just look at the pic i attached...i didnt have my camera with me, so i took a shot against a mirror with my phone's camera, i hope it was clear enough ;) keep in mind, this was a mirror shot, so it is on the opposite side from what u are looking at!

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

ok i am home again and can give you a better decription:

    • when i delete the first song, my computer makes the sound like some hardware has been disconnected (like when removing a USB jump drive)
    • my external display goes blank for a moment as if its being reset, it also makes the sounds as if it as been unplugged from the charger and plugged back in (in fact the window pops up and says its charging again)
    • the p2k star in the taskbar has the little notification balloon pop up saying "Status Report. P2k device disconnected." This happens every single time after i delete one file.
    • at this point i have only clicked one song and deleted it. on the bottom left of the window, Space:, Vols:, Files:, and Model:, are all blank so i have no idea if deleting anything else is actually working.
    • if i click re-read for P2k Mobile phone it doesnt find my phone anymore until i run MSU. But, once i do that and hit re-read, the song i just deleted comes back b/c i hadnt deleted MyToneDB.db yet. but even if i did, only that one song would have been deleted. this is really frustrating.

also just to clarify, in case anyone else has encounters this problem, the errors were:
    "Deleting /a/motorola/shared/audio/bells.mid
    USB: IO Time-out!
    CMD: Data write fail!
    USB: IO Time-out!
    CMD: Data write fail!
    Volume size fail!"

Which version of driver tools do you have? Try uninstalling/reinstalling them.
I still use the BVRP driver tools because the new version gave me similar problems.

Ok i feel really dumb for continuing to post right now but,

I was using MSU previously and decided to switch to PST. I connected to PST and then connected to P2K Commander. i had to re-read my file list after every delete but atleast this time my phone stayed connected the whole time. i successfully deleted every stock ringtone except for "rings.mid" which i never deleted to begin with, and 4 ringtones that i made with MPT. for some reason though i still cannot access my ring details. should i just set all the values in all ring modes to 0 in PST and then load some songs back on after?

edit: that worked perfectly! i just went to PST and in my Feature File i set all rings in every ring style to 26 (Silent) and rebooted the phone. everything is fixed! FINALLY!

Nope, unfortunately it's not possible. I could give you a longer answer about the profile missing or whatever but... it boils down to no.

Lots of people have had lots of problems with adaptors and stuff, I'd just get the moto ones that have the mini usb plug in the end. They also have a microphone and a button to answer calls so when a call comes in while listening to music you can click and talk on the phone without having to dig the phone out of your pocket.

They're the same ones that come with the music essentials kit, if I could do it again I'd get them off ebay, I'll bet they're super cheap.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I got a Motorola Razr from Sprint (not Verizon) for $50 (after rebate) and it had no headset. A few days later, a newspaper ad came out with lower prices: $25 for the standard color, and $30 for the red one (much cooler), so I took mine in, and they switched it--and handed me cash for the $20 + tax difference! And when I got home, I noticed that there was a Motorola stereo headset in the box, too! Has anyone else noticed this--that is, does the red version come with a free headset, and the other colors don't?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Hello I'm new to this forum and I have NO idea if I'm posting right but if ANYONE can please help I would be eternally grateful.....I put my own music onto my SD card and it shows up in my "my folder" on my phone....I know it plays because the timer counts down the song time and the completion meter thingy fills up as the song plays.....I have the tiny volume on the left bottom of the corner of the screen all the way up but I still can't hear my songs.....I have my own headphones that connect to that little black box connecter thingy but I still can't hear my music. Does anyone know how ot help me? my sound should be working fine because everything else on my phone sounds perfectly...the voice command---the speaker phone---volume controls, etc. Is the only way I hear my music thru headphones? or does it play out loud? sorry I just got my V3m and I'm trying to figure it all out. I do NOT have the VCast (meaning I don't pay for it's service) because the guy who sold it to me said I can do it myself without buying music....:D

Yes, it plays out loud. How did u put the music on the phone? And what format is it in? mp3 or wma? Lastly, make sure that even though the speaker volume is all the way up, that your phone isnt on silent/mute.

Ohhh, yea you need to sync them to your phone using Windows Media Player. You cannot just add them with a card reader. Look in the "sticky" section of this razr forum for the thread labled "getting your v3c/m connected"

ok thanx, then I'm in trouble because I run into the problem where WMP10 doesn't read my phone connection and I don't have the hardware or whatever it is to find it on the wizard when I connect my phone to the USB....so that's what makes the sound play? I have the media player, my OWN usb cable...but it's not recognizing my phone......I'll look at the Sticky again----THANK YOU MUCHO!!!:)

No problem. Make sure u have the usb driver in that sticky. As well as the mtp fix file. Lastly, you can try updating to WMP11 and see if that helps.

What happens if you just unplug the headphones and the adaptor from the phone? It should play out loud if no headphones are plugged in. If it doesn't, then yeah, you should sync, but I'd try unplugging all stuff from the plug on the phone and playing a song. People have succeeded at putting music on the card from their comp and then playing, so it is possible....

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Is there any way to do this WITHOUT buying or downloading anything? I've read some threads that said others have accomplished it w/out buying/downloading....and Yea I naturally tried playing it without headphones first and when I didn't hear it that's when I thought maybe it had to be heard through headphones.......I'm thinking it's the sync but I need to experiment with it because that has me absolutely baffled:confused: ....and I need my dad's help because I don't download things when I don't know what they do....I will show him these threads later to see if they make any sense to him so Thank you all for your help;) . At least I know where I need to go from here. Sad thing is, the music is like a HUGE selling point to these phones but it almost seems not worth it when it has so many stepping stones to be able to get it or do it.:(

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

You're going to need to download something. I don't know what is more worth the sacrifice, downloading something you aren't comfortable with or not having music on your phone to avoid downloading... Honestly, I've downloaded nearly everything there is to download that does anything for my phone, and had absolutely no problems. Are you worried about viruses? Because you can scan the files before you do anything with them to make sure they're okay. But I think you really shouldn't miss out on getting music on your phone because you don't want to download anything.

You don't need to BUY anything, if you already have the cable, so that's a plus. You need the cable, you need the drivers, and you need the mtp fix. I'd also get the drivertool... I have all of these things downloaded on my computer and I guarantee they have done nothing negative, and my virus software has come up with no viruses found. I first run the drivertool, then the mtp fix, then I plug in the phone, direct the computer to the drivers you downloaded, once it's all done, open up wmp, go to sync tab, go to sync in phone... it should work. I can tell you what the things you're downloading DO, if that is what you need... but don't miss out of music because you don't want to download anything. Even people who bought the music essentials kit had to download the mtp fix to get it working... so you REALLY DO have to download.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

LOL no I'm not worried about viruses or anything I just didn't wanna download because I don't know what the programs do....Thanks a bunch but it's perfectly fine and you don't need to explain them to me...I just don't download when I don't understand what it is I'm downloading. I told my dad about the info all you guys gave me in here and he seems to understand what I'm talking about----is it better to just go out and buy the neccessary Verizon cd? or if I download do I just need to download the mpt fix? what are the drivers? is that part of the thing you buy from Verizon? or do we download that separately??? those are the only questions I need answered because at least you guys gave me options so, I know I say it everytime but seriously I do really mean THANK YOU!!!

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Like I said before, people who bought the stuff from verizon STILL had to download something. Yeah, I guess you don't want to download something if you don't know what it is, but these are all things that you DO know what they are.. they are steps in helping you get your phone doing what you want it to do. Don't go out and buy the verizon cd. It does not work without a download. Do you have the drivers already? If so, all you need is the mtp fix, and if you got the cd, you'd be in the exact same position and still need the mtp fix. I'd get drivertool too, and follow the steps I said earlier. Run driver tool, run mtp fix, plug in phone, direct it to drivers. That should do it.

I think another rule of thumb to add to the no downloads thing is don't BUY stuff if you don't know what it does. At least you can download stuff you don't know what it does for free. Buying stuff and not knowing if it's even going to help you seems worse to me.
