Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

What part of the option do you not see? I assume you see your menu, and I assume you know how to access get it now, and if you can access get it now, get tunes and tones is right in there. So I'm going to guess you don't have a sync option? Do you have a different service provider than verizon? Is it a v3m or a v3c? If it's a v3c it won't have the sync option cause it doesn't have a music player.

There's one step missing from that tutorial though too, I need to run the mtp fix file to get wmp to sync with my phone. You can find it in the downloads section at www.hacktherazr.com. But there's no need if you don't have a v3m and can't sync anyway.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Apparantly, even when you buy everything you need from verizon, it still seems impossible to get this V3m to sync music from the pc.

I bought the music essentials kit, the mini flash card as well. The installation cd rom says 'drivers installed successfully, plug in your phone now'....then the 'found new hardware' box comes up from windows, I choose 'install automatically' like the cd-rom said to do, and lo and behold, 'windows cannot find software for your product'!!! I directed it to the driver folder of the cd-rom and got the SAME result! This thing has been a freakin' pain.

ANY idea what I'm doing wrong? I've got windows xp and media player 10 just like i'm supposed to.

Maybe part of the problem is that the drivers folder is named 'windows 2000'.

I went to block/unblock and it says enter the number or e-mail address. I entered the number and all it says is "No response recieved" and i dont know how to make it work. Can anybody help me please??? And i do have the verizon motorola v3m. Thanks a lot!!!

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Alright, I am confused. I have had my razor since July and have used MPT several times to crop and add pics and music, but now I can't seem to get my phone to sink with MPT I have a V3M and now when I try to get into MPT to swap files and so forth I get all these pop up boxes trying to get me to install new drivers and recognize new hardware, so now I can't use MPT to do anything, any suggestions?

Can someone please post a link to how to get MPT to recognize my V3M as a V3C so I can access Multimedia Studio on MPT? Thanks in advance!

This is probably a stupid question, but can someone tell me (approximately) how many text messages equate to 30 MB on the V3m?

Well, its about 50 bytes per message give or take. 30 Mb is 30,000,000 bytes / 50 bytes = 600,000 messages. Although your phone could NEVER store that many, it gets bogged down when you near 100 ;)

Any update to the java game hack for the V3m? I've seen someone post a seem edit to enable java app loader menu... is this crap?
    Java App Loader Menu
    offset = 0043
    bit = 0
set = 0 (0 = unchecked or off; check to turn on)

Yea, no advacements yet. That seem edit doesnt work. P2Kseem was desdigned for GSM phones, then someone hacked it to make it work for the Moto V710, so a lot of the seem edit descriptions are for other phones...just like that one is.

I'm thinking of getting the V3m. However, I desperately hate the red bar on the top and bottom of the verizon menus. Is there any way to change the color using mods, hacks, etc.?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

blahblah... there is one way, but it's pretty complicated if you've never done any phone hacking. You can put a different providers v3m firmware on the phone. This looks like the regular moto interface that most other moto phones from other providers have. Then there are fixes to get everything up and running again. It's a lot of work, and a lot of programs, but it can be done.

I really wanted a razr but I really didn't want the red bars. I hated them so bad I considered switching providers!! But I found huge complaints about nearly every other providers reception, so I stayed. I'm glad I was finally able to get rid of the red bars AND stay with verizon. So, it's possible.

I know about using the Alltell version's firmware, but don't you then lose the ability to use the MicroSD slot and VCast? Also, can you post a link to a comprehensive guide to flashing the Verizon v3m to the Alltell firmware?

It used to be that you lost the tf slot and music player, but not anymore. An alltel v3m f/w was released which supports the tf slot. The music player doesn't have as many features, but you can play, shuffle, repeat, make playlists. Here's the guide:

    http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Monster1.htm

VZ Navigator won't work with it, and you can't sync with wmp to get music on the card, but I think it's toootally worth it.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I wonder if someone could clarify the reference to firmware versions on the V3m. I am trying to get OBEX file transfer to work. I notice references to version .02 (contains OBEX code), .03 (OBEX code removed) and .04 (OBEX may or not be there). The firmware in my phone didplays as NEWC_01.09.02. Which portion of the firmware version are people referring to with .02 .03 and .04? Which version do I have? Does anyone know if it supports OBEX?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

You have what is being called ".02" f/w. You SHOULD have OBEX. You can know if u have a comp with bluetooth, and pair it with your phone. Once it is connected, you can hit "discover services" and it will list what your phone can do with bluetooth. If it lists OBEX, u are good. If it doesnt, you would need to flash to get it.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

The .02 f/w? Really? This was purchased within the last week. I assumed that the ".02" was a reference to the minor release level (assuming "1" was major release, ".09" minor release and ".02" the patch level). A friend who got his last fall has a f/w version string of NEWC_01.05.0A. Would this be .02, .03, or .04?

When I check available services I see DUN, handsfree gateway, and OBEX push Transfer. ("Push" transfer? From the perspective of the comp or the phone?) However, when I fire up the OBEX push transfer, the PC software apparently requests a business card, the phone displays "connected" briefly, then displays an error "Request not allowed. Canceling....". Then the comp displays "The Busines Card could not be received. Error: File not found". I guess I don't understand why it is requesting a business card.

Incidentally, I am doing this with a Targus Bluetooth dongle on a W2K machine. The seem edits to allow USB and OBEX transfers to MPT have been done and this works using a cable.

    Thanks.....

    FW versions on the V3m...

Ok, guess I should have played around a little more. While I am having problems transferring files from the Windows/Targus interface, I fired up MPT and discovered that I can transfer files to and from the phone using Bluetooth. This confuses me a little.... I seem to recall a post from Mark Venture stating that the V3m never had OBEX enabled, but I could be wrong about that.

Maybe I just don't understand the whole OBEX thing. Is this what MPT is using to perform the transfers?

Incidentally, I just discovered an interesting glitch. My phone is set to lock at power-on. However, when it powers on with the Bluetooth running it displays

    1) the request for the lock code, then automtically goes to
    2) a message saying "Registering Applications" then....
    3) To the Verizon home screen. No lock code required.

Hope my girlfriend never figures this out..... :browani:

Still confused about the f/w version history.

Interesting. When connected to MPT File Transfer Studio the DUN service is active - not the OBEX service.....

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Sorry, I completely misread your f/w version. When people refer to .02, .03, .04, they are referring to the V3c firwmare. Here are the three V3c firmwares out:

GATW_X_01.0F.02P (released by verizon with OBEX)
GATW_X_01.0F.03P (released by verizon and removed OBEX)
GATW_X_01.0F.04P (released by verizon still no OBEX)

This is why you see people reference WANTING the ".02" firmware, but this has NOTHING to do with the V3m. If u flashed the V3m with the V3c firmware, you would lose your memory card function.

The V3m original is NEWC_X_01.05.0A, and the recent release is NEWC_X_01.09.02P.

There is no direct correlation between what #'s are on the firmware name, and what "level" they are. They are just refernce names so techs know which one to use when flashing.

The V3m OBEX is for bluetooth file transfer in MPT ONLY. The V3c OBEX is for phone <-> computer bluetooth file transfer, as well as MPT bluetooth file transfer.

Verizon with the new firmware for the v3m tried to be nice and add bluetooth phone transfer, but they restrict it to sending contacts thru bluetooth only. No file transfers (they do this so u cant send free rings/pics from phone to phone....they want u to use their GIN service, etc)

Again, the seem edit DOES allow bluetooth file transfer, BUT only in MPT, so it still is costing money. This is Verizon's thing now-a-days, stripping the phone so u feel liek u have to use their services...OR, you must hack the phone and void the warranty, but they dont tell u this obviously.

    Re: RAZR V3m

I followed the instructions on this few-month old post, and I'm not getting quite the results that I'm supposed to have... I do have the Multimedia Studio option, but it won't read and write to the phone... I was able to read and write images to the phone with BitPim though... but, bitpim won't let me do anything to the audio folder. I've seen instructions on seem edits, but the instructions indicate that you're beginning with not even having multimedia studio show up on MPT, which it does... and these instructions that worked for other people didn't require a seem edit... I'm not technologically ignorant but, I've never hacked a piece of equipment before either, so I'm slightly in the dark here... I don't know what to do because all the instructions I've found searching on this site don't say anything about if I can load multimedia studio but not use it...

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

That's what happened to me too, so I just looked at it like multimedia studio wasn't working, and it needed a fix, regardless of whether I could see it or not.

If you have verizon, you need the seem edit to get mms (multimedias stuido) working with MPT. Since you're already seeing the option, you're halfway there. You prabably manually set up the connection with MPT and selected v3cm as your phone? That's what you need. There are TWO seem edits to get mms working with mpt but the second one isn't really necessary if you manually set up your phone and just pick v3cm. So, all you need is the usb transfer seem edit. Then connect to mpt like you did before, if you have to get it to recognize the phone again do it the way you did before, manually, by selecting the stuff yourself instead of letting mpt make the choices. You should be set after that. Just a little seem edit problem.

If you're NOT with verizon... some other cdma phones need the seem edit done too, and since mms isn't working I assume your phone needs the seem no matter what phone provider you have. So try the seem, see what happens.

    Re: RAZR V3m

Could you please help me with my new phone? Wear do I get this information at? Guess I might be a little old for this phone because you kids sure know so much more than I ever would. I don't like the pix on the outer screen either. And I am disappointed that I can't get animated ringtones anymore like I did with my old phone. You can email me at SusanGreenFL@msn.com. I called Verizon and they told me that you can't change the pix on the front or get animated ringtones.

    Thanks so much!

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Thanks for the clarification Cincy. Is there any place that you know of (anyone?) that describes the different features of various f/w releases?

I don't think this is quite correct. As I said, it appears that MPT uses DUN (dial-up networking) rather than OBEX to perform the file transfer function. Looks like OBEX is enabled only for business card transfers between phones. I guess Verizon couldn't figure out how to make a buck forcing you to buy business cards through them.

This leads to an interesting question though. If the OBEX code that allows a business card transfer is present in the V3m, does that mean that the code that would allow a file transfer is present too, but just disabled elsewhere? An undiscovered seem edit maybe? I don't know how these are found - can't just randomly start flipping bits.

No, there isnt really unless someone sat down and wrote one out, b/c when firmware is released, there are no release notes. And this is mainly b/c 90% of the firmware files out on the net, have been leaked from an insider...

Whatever it is, it isnt a full OBEX enable. When the seem edit is performed to allow OBEX file transfer function, what you are ENABLING is called "Bluetooth or USB data transfer in MPT and E815 OBEX BT". We arent installing OBEX, just allowing the use of bluetooth file exchange (OBEX - Object Exchange Protocol). At any rate, Verizon doesnt want u doing this.

The code for phone <-> phone transfer is OPP (Object Push Protocol), and this isnt existent on ANY verizon firmware. Not that it is disabled. It was never written into the code. Thats why if u want it, you need to flash to Alltel, since they dont cripple any of their phones.
