Yes, poly is correct. To add on, the .ran files are the emoticons in a sense used for text messaging. You can delete those with no ill-effect as well. (unless u use them while texting..i dont). The directory is a/motorola/shared/picture. Good idea to back them up, just in case u ever need to add them back on for whatever reason.

Do both of you sleep? Posts at 3 and 4 am? hehe

I heard that the V3m only allows 1 GB microSD cards?
    Is this true?

Also, have anyone figured out a way to delete certain ringtones? or is this truly locked?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

For everyone I have asked, the Verizon V3M can only accept a 1gb card. I have heard it can SEE 2gb of space, but anything on the card AFTER 1gb, it wont SEE the files.

As for ringtones, I have deleted all of the stock ones I could find (i.e. chimes_low, claps, etc). You can't in BitPim b/c the audio folder is locked, but you CAN in p2kcommander. Once you delete them, u have to delete the MyTonesDB.db file to re-index the master ringtone list. See the screenshot below to see my audio folder. Pretty much the only ones there are the ones I added, and the ones that end .mp_ (i have heard it is bad to delete them)

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Make sure not to delete any that are in use! Since there are so many diffenent things that are assigned to ring tones, you'll want to check the settings to make sure all the ones you want to delete aren't assigned. This will freeze some menus in your phone.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Well, just set your profile to silent. That way none are in use. Then delete them. Delete the .db file. Restart the phone. Go back, turn it to whatever profile u use. Reset your ring style menus (since they are reset by deleting the .db file) and you are good to go.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I have a Verizon V3m and did SEEM Edits 2742 and 2827 to
get MPT 4.0 to work. I followed the thread here posted by Cindyball.
Everything turned out ok except that now the Date on the display
is wrong. I have checked the menu settings and found nothing
allowing me to change the date. I'm currently in the "Extended
    Network" area.

Anything you can offer to remedy this issue would be helpful.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

There a couple seem edits related to the date and time. Here they are:

Enable Time/Date Menu, offset 008d, bit 6, Check to Enable
Enable Time Auto-Update Menu Option, offest 0000, bit 0, Check to Enable
Turn off Auto-Time/Date Update, offset 0055, bit 2, Uncheck to Enable

Is it possible you may have checked or unchecked one of the above accidentally? You may want to check to make sure. First one should be unchecked, second should be checked, third should be unchecked. At least, that's the way it is on my phone, I've made no edits to these seems, and my time and date are correct. Let me know if this helps!

I found it as a torret file. I suggest starting a search there. All forums have different rules about posting stuff... don't know what the rules are here. PM me if you want and I may have more info.

MPT is not shareware, it is not freeware. Any copy you own without having purchased it is illegal. You are not allowed to post anything here regarding it, and you are not allowed to post ASKING for it either. Both will get you banned. Here is a thread where you can get it for less than $25 like most people do -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/58857-where-can-i-download-mpt-4-a.html

We'll get banned for just talking about it?

Interesting, becuase the person who started the thread you referenced asked about getting it for free, and yet that person isn't banned.

By talking about it, I mean if someone asks and you post info how to do it, or if u post a direct link, thats what will get u banned. You wont get banned right off the bat, but if someone keeps asking for free copyrighted software, or posts info for it, they wil get banned.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I just recieved a phone for my work plan (15% discounted rate) and have several questions as it seems the verizon service is lacking in the extreme in what they've disabled on this phone:

    1. Can I just return this crippleware phone of verizon's and purchase an unbranded one and simply have verizon activate it (SIM chip?)?

    2.
    a. Bluetooth data capability is not even in verizon's branded firmware is it, so you can't really do a seem edit for it, correct?
    b. However, I do have the option of using the alltech firmware for the v3c that will enable this, but of course disable the microSD functionality, correct?

    3. Does anyone have links to, or knowledge of how to get the usb driver from hacktherazr, or any (and hopefully all) of the tools there and the MPT to function in linux? I have an xp machine around, but my main is really my laptop with ubuntu running, like to have it all functioning here.

    Thanks,
    Yasha

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I can answer your first question... there are no sim cards with Verizon, so you can't do it the way you're thinking. I don't know about buying other CDMA phones for use on Verizons network, I think you can do it with Alltel but not other because they have slightly different services.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Hey Yasha, welcome to WA:

    1. There is no sim chip in cdma phones as poly said. You can get an Alltel phone to work on Verizon, but you have a lot of work to get the Alltel phone reference files changed to recognize the Verizon network. Sprint could work, but probably only voice...data doesnt match up.

    2a. That is correct.

2b. Correct again....this is the route I went.

    3. Unfortunately most/all of these programs/drivers dont work with linux or even mac for that matter. Windows XP is your only choice for now anyways.

    Re: RAZR V3m

Verizon has many things going for it sadly, it offsets that with what it has going against it. If I were to go home, fire up my HP and find that HughesNet has disabled features of my computer so as to restrict where and how I get content I would be highly ticked. I see little or no difference here.

If you as a CIS major thought you would have problems I am doomed. I hope the procedurals are in a Hack for Dummies mode.

I would uninstall and re-install p2kseem. I looks like something went wrong in your install the program file name should be p2kseem.exe nut p2kseem_1.exe as you have stated.
