Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

OK so i started playing with skins and now my screens all black. i think i just need to change my skin back to a default but i cant do it cause i cant see. i know its only a few buttons to push so if anyone can tell me how to do this it would be great.

ok im wrong i tried to make it through the menus but i think they may have changed on my phone. I just need to get it set back to a stock skin. Do i need to flash it? How do i do that? Im fine if i just have to take it back to stock. Can the alltel store do it? I really need to get it working soon.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

1 key step. Did you format your transflash card while it was IN your phone? or did you format it on the computer? You need to put the card in, and format it in the phone. It will create the proper folders, i.e. 'my_music'. Then run the sync on the phone to get it to connect to wmp10. Then it should automatically see the my music folder and it will convert your mp3 into wma properly.

Tell me the steps you did to get your phone ste up. What usb driver did u insteall? DriverTool? DriverTool4.21a? Did you run the mtpfix.exe? etc

I assume it would use the same usb driver as the vzw v3m. Try the one I attached.

    Hate to butt in...

    But...

I have a new Razr phone and I have tried to read the manual and have looked on Verizon's website but have still been unable to get the answers...or maybe I should say understand the answers that I have found. Can someone help me??

How do I get the little display window on the front of the phone (when it's closed) to display a picture?

    Re: Hate to butt in...

Quick seem edit will take care of that

    1) Open MSU
    2) Open P2Kseem
    3) Seem 2742, Record 1, Byes 0000, Offset 94 Bit 7 - VZW V3C/V3M outside LCD - Check to be ORANGE, Uncheck for Graphic ( Note: It will only display your background image...you cannot have separate images)

Hey Cinciball, thank you very much! I have to be honest though (why not) and say I have no idea what you mean by that. I'm kind of old school in that way. Let's just say I have no clue what MSI is, to start...so how do I open it? Or, since I have no idea what that IS, am I never going to be able to make this happen?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Well, Verizon disables certain features on the phone. We use programs to load up the phones programming files and turn on what they turned off, or turn on what isnt normally enabled. The process is called seem editing. Two programs are required. 1) Motorola Software Updater (MSU). It puts the phone into the correct programming mode. 2) While MSU is running, we open P2kSeem. We use that to load up the phone's seem files. We then re enable the features that we want.

In this case, Verizon has it set so there is an Orange image on the lcd screen when closed. The ONLY other option on this phone is to change a seem file in the phone to have it display your background instead of the orange. If u have a picture as ur background, it doesnt look that good as it crams your 176x220 background image into a 96x80 image for the lcd screen.

Now, there are many other features we can re enable thru this seem editing process. i.e. Ring then Vibe, Moto UI volume control (1-7 vs lo-hi), USB data transfer, MultiMedia in MPT (motorola phone tools). Also can turn on typical ringers for motorola phones that Verizon shut off.

You can find plenty of this info using google. Below are a few sites that u can research.

    www.mark.cdmaforums.com
    www.hacktherazr.com
    www.howardforums.com

among others. But the more u research, the more u will learn. Let me know if u have any specific questions.

PS. There are risks to performing these seem edits. If you do it wrong, you could brick your phone. (unlikely, but it is a possibility) Also, there are some changes u can make with programs like BitPim that are less dangerous, such as changing the lcd image when the flip is open, u can change the startup and shutdown animations/sounds, among more. This is probably a lot to gather, but the more u search, the more familiar it will become. The Hack The Razr site has the programs u need for free download.

Wow, what can I say but thanks for taking the time to try and help me! Can you tell me this...without seem editing (I just don't think I am ready for that quite yet...) how can I send a picture from my phone and have it show up as a picture on my friend's Razr instead of a text telling them to go to a website...I'd rather have the actual picture show up if I can!

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

You cant. And this is something Verizon has removed rather than disabled. The RAZR v3m does not have the bluetooth capability to send pictures from one phone to another. If you arent up for seem editing, then u definitely aent up for flashing your firmware to the Alltel firmware which enables this bluetooth file sharing function called OBEX and OPP. Your only other option is to text message the pic or download it to your comp thru usb cable and then upload it to your friends phone. Welcome to the world of Verizon. You will run into many more of these issues. The phone itself that Motorola issues CAN do these functions, but its Verizon who decides what the customers can and cant use...more often than not, it means you buy these services from them instead of using them for free.

Well that kind of stinks. Thanks for the info though! Just means I will probably 'use' my phone for less and less until it finally becomes just my phone, I suppose! Thank you Cincyball.

Yea, its protected by DRM - Digital Rights Management. Which means exactly that, you arent supposed to distribute it.

Im sure you could google DRM and find programs to buy that will remove the DRM. Then you could use something like 3GPP converter, or even the MPT video converter to get it on your phone.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

With help from this forum as well as a few other sites, I have been able to get just about everything working on my V3M. My thanks to you all.

One problem with Outook Calendar. When I bring events over to the phone using MPT "all day events" do not sucessfully transfer. The work-around has been to change them to short events from 12:00 to 12:30.

Any suggestions for transfering "all day events"?

    Thanks again,
    Lloyd

There's no need to apologize, sometimes new forums can be overwhelming and you may not catch everything that's posted information wise at first glance, most of our members that have been here for a while are very courtious when it comes to welcoming new members while a very few just don't have the manners and patience and think they know it all so they think they can reply in whatever way they choose to...

In defense, if I have the right to defend my post, that same user should read the rules as well before crying foul. Here is a rule quoted from that link you attached - "- No spamming. If you post something in one forum, don't go around posting it in every other forum."

To anyone who may think I am rude and insensitive, this user sent me a PM w/ the EXACT same question in which I answered w/ that post. So then I come on here, to help in my free time, and see the same exact question> This prompted me to ask if the user had even read what I pointed him/her to in my PM?

Id like to think people would get the full context of a situation before forming conclusions.

Your reason still does not excuse the way you replied to that member or any other on this board, again new members sometimes are not completely aware on where to post their questions or where to begin searching....
and if you're considering his post a spam, will i could ban you for that reason alone for going around the forum posting links to other forums.

If you have any further questions, please send me a PM and let's keep this thread on the subject at hand.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Time for a phone question?

Could someone tell me what seem I use to to change the V3M so that MPT reccognizes it as such?

This is the place where several edits are necessary to make it say V3M.

I've done it on one phone, but can't find it again.

    Thanks,

    Lloyd

I don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but I did and found a solution that worked for me. I have a Verizon V3m and was getting a "Registering Applications" screen at startup. I tried seem edit and put the original seems back in and it still did it. I found out that it was an issue with GIN, here is a link that I found the answer and how to correct the problem. :D

I hope I have not violated any rules of the Forum by adding this link, I just thought it was pertnent information.
