Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Can someone help??? I have a motorola v3m Razr. I am trying to transfer pics to my pc. I installed motorola phone tools 4.0. I finally got the phone recognized but when I try to do anything, ex. transfer pics, sync phone contacts, it keeps saying mobile failed. Is there something else I need to download in order to transfer my pics????

    thanks

So I assume you have the Multilmedia portion of MPT working? If so, did you do the seem edit to change your phone's ID String from v3m to v3mM? There is one more seem edit thant you would need. It is the one to enable usb or bluetooth file transfer thru MPT. Let me know what u have done, or if u have performed any seem edits.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Hi all,
Been trying to get MPT 4.21a working with my V3m Razr (silver). I wanted to be able to do file and pic transfers. I followed instructions
    http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/57596-motorola-phone-tools-2.html page 2
    and here http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=SEEM&PHPSESSID=01c079c7486075d93fd0d42da9a8fac3
exactly. I running Win XP SP2 home
Now, When I plug the phone into the USB I get windows ballon in the sys tray "USB Device Not Recognized', and the phone shows "Unauthorized Charger" on it's screen. I tried to reload driver from "Driver Tool 4.21a" and it unistalls the .inf files, then quickly closes after saying Done. MSU does not see the phone either. The phone still works. I did do a back up of the orginal seem file before I made any changes with P2KSeem4v. But when I also run P2K it does not see the phone. In WinXP device Mgr, roll back, and update can't find drivers either. Any help out there??? PPPPLLLLLEEEEAAAAASSSSEEEEEE...........

Cincyball, thanks for reply. I have not checked anything with the multimedia. I keep reading about the seem edits, but I have no idea what that is or where to begin. I have not changed anything with my phone. Could you maybe help me out???

Ok, without the phone connected, run drivertool 4.21a. Then, SHUT OFF the phone, connect it, and let it automatically install the drivers. If you see usbsermpt being installed, u will have the most up to date driver (3-22-06). The key is having your phone OFF when connecting it to install the drivers. Then u should be able to connect it whenever u want, on or off, and shouldnt matter

Ok, read thru this thread: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/56369-motorola-phone-tools-doesnt-work-razr.html

Then, read here to get your phone set up for seem edits: http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=SEEM&PHPSESSID=e8efc491b3de9fcc05f7d7c8877ec7f6

Let me know if u have any specific questions to the process. It is a daunting task to walk everyone thru step by step. Most of us learned by reading, reading some more, and just when u thought u had it figured out, reading some more. Good luck!

    Insert 'w'

Just got my V3m and I want to configure the vzw voice mail to auto dial my pin but I can't seem to figure out how to insert the 'wait' character. Help's appreciated.

    Thanks

    First of all....

Thanks, to everyone. Cincyball thank you for all the wonderful, long, replies to the many questions. Cincy, I just recently read your post about the headphones...thanks for the links about the adaptor available at radioshack. It made me wonder.....for those who have figured out how to put music in, how do you use your media player on the phone? Do you listen to it with headphones? Through the phone's speaker? Connect it to a stereo or a car? I have an ipod..so...I am glad I figured out how to put music in..but am not sure if I ever will (well..the speaker function is nice). I ordered a 1gb micro card..so..I guess I have to put music on now!

How is the battery life when playing music? More/less if through a speaker?

One thing I am dying to do..is put games on (for free, of course). Is that possible? Anyone done it? If so, how?

    Thanks everyone.

    Re: Insert 'w'

I have two numbers...my voicemail, and my bank....for which I have inserted the wait.

I just typed the number (*87 for instance), then hit options, insert wait, then my password, then wait again, then 1 (for new messages).

I'm not sure what problem you're having. Have you tried the above?

Configuring Micro Card, & WAP (no, Not Italian American)

    1) I am about to get my micro card.

I remember reading that if you purchased the 2gb, you may not be able to use all of the available space. I read on a website that "due to FAT's limitation of a maximum of 512 entries in the root, you could wind up running out of space for directory entries long before you use up your Free File Space." I have no idea what that really means, but from my novice perspective in means that Verizon is f-ing you, and you can find a way around it.

    http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V3M-DefaultLocs.htm

Did other people configure their phone as described in the link above, in order to not have a limit on space?

    2) I have figured out how to get WAP. However, I can not get into hotmail. I think I have to sign up for something first. Anyone know how to get into hotmail? And, has anyone used wapspots.com? It seems like a nice way to surf via the WAP. I have just started using the WAP, with google as my proxy. You can't type any urls directly; only type searches. I also can't save any favorites (unless I'm doing something wrong). Wapspots.com allows you to type your personal page into google, then it will bring you to your page with all of your favorites saved.

That works in the phone book but the 'options' soft key is disabled when you enter it via Message Settings->Voice Mail.

    Re: Insert 'w'

You should not go to message settings, voicemail to add the wait.

Go to contacts, then find voicemail (assuming your phone saved a default for you), hit left soft key "edit", scroll to number, hit right softkey "options", hit 3 "add a pause", hit 1 "wait", type in your password, hit 1 "wait", type 1 (for new messages, assuming you have verzizon wirless voicemail).

    Voila.....you're done.

If you want to add a new number and add a wait..then just do as I described above.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Well, I have since flashed my phone to the Alltel .04 firmware. But before that when I was able to use my tf card for music, I would mainly listen thru the headphones. Or, at night, isntead of rying to keep the headphones in my ears, I would just play it thru the speaker on low volume. Using the dongle connection, I have also successfully listened to it thru the cars speakers usingthe auxillary jack on my 06 civic. I too have an ipod, and since I can have all my audio and video on the ipod, I really wasnt finding much use for my transflash card slot, thats why I decided to flash my phone to Alltel (as u may have read, flashing the v3m makes the tf card slot unavailable) You dont necessarily HAVE to put music on. You can put movies on it as well. In fact, if i had ONLY an ipod that didnt do video, i wouldnt have flashed and would have put some of my myovies/tv shows on the tf card and played them thru my phone.

The battery life is not very good with music. In fact, it isnt very good normally. The Verion UI (user interface) sucks up a lot of battery power. I mean, u can normally go a few days without a charge, but since i went to alltel firmware, the battery easily lasts 4 days. The moto UI is soo much better. Plus now have OBEX and OPP bluetooth functions.

Lastly, u cant get games on the v3m for free. It uses a BREW program, and as u purchase each game, they are digitally signed for your phone ,and your phone only. If u had to change phones, u wouldnt even be able to recycle the game. Verizon would have to credit u for the game so u can buy it again for ur new phone. Sucks, its not liek JAVA.

The phone just cant read 2 gb of space. it doesnt have anything to do with verizon this time, just the way the phone is. So no need to by a 2gb card unless u are thinking about getting the chocolate. Ad for the 512 entries. To make it simple, when the phone formats the card, it creates a few folders. One of them being my_music. When u sync music to ur card, it sends them there, so we are fine. BUT if we send pictures, or flixs, they get stored on the root directory of the card. Meaning they arent put into specific folders. In essense, if u had NO music in ur card, and u put 512 1mb pic on ur card, u would have used up all the entries for that card and couldnt put nay more on. So u would have 500mb left or so, but wouldnt be able to add any more files. So what we do is add a "my_pix" and a "my_flix" folder and change the phone's path to look there isntead of the root directory. Now u could put 1000's of files and not run the risk of using up the entry space before using up the storage space. Again, not verizon's fault this time, just the design of the FAT memory. I HAD mine set up this way, but it doesnt matter anymore bc im not using VZW firmware.

I used the free google as well. Im not sure how to set up free web to browse web pages. im not sure if u can. But what I have found I prefer is, I disabled EVDO and I connect to the net at 1x speeds on my laptop using my phone as a modem (liek im doing now), rather than connectong to the net on my phones browser at EVDO. Its tough navigating with the phone browser. Id rather be slightly slower wit my laptop being ablr to get to pages more effeiciently than using the phones web at evdo speeds. Either one only uses minutes, and like today on weekends, it is even more free :D

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Hi all. Newbie on this thread. Thanks for all the useful info I have read on here. I have the new razrv3m from verizon, and did a coulple of seem edits to use the MPT multimedia functions. I have a question regarding the screens. When I am on a call the screens go black after awhile. I have the backlight set at 20 secs. I was just wondering if this is normal? I have a habit of looking at the screen when I am on a call to see duration of call. Now I have to push a button to get the screen to light up. Just curious if I did something when I did the seem edits? Thanks in advance for your help!:D

The phone is supposed to go black in order to save energy. I, too, find it hard to get used to, but I guess in the long run it is for the best.

    Re: Insert 'w'

It's just fricken unbelievable they can't code the firmware to allow pause and wait functionality through the message settings. Every other Moto I've owned (Star Tac 7820, T720 and V710) had this capability. I understand nobody uses phone cards anymore but every voice mail retrieval system on the planet has a pin/password.

    Re: Insert 'w'

I'm going to be changing from a e815 to Verizon V3m and I tried the 'wait' process on the e815 and all went well (call went through and password was parsed) but a screen popped up and asked if it was okay to send the password characters (which it showed) and I needed to click the right softkey to accept.

Does the V3m respond the same or does it really work seemlessly?

    Thanks

    Re: Insert 'w'

Actually, I used the Pause rather than the Wait. Wait requires a key input where Pause does not.

AFAIK, the V3m does not allow you you insert pause or wait in the Message Settings menu. Following this thread, you can put VM in the Phone Book so rather than the Voice Command "Go to Voice Mail" (activates the number in the Message Settings), you'd say, "Call Voice Mail" which activates the number you put in the Phone Book.

The advantage of using the Message Settings to call Voice Mail is to respond to the dialog box when you get a voice mail and the phone prompts you to call. If you hit 'OK', the phone will dial the number in the Message Settings which won't have your password and you'll manually have to key it in. Otherwise, you press 'No' and call voice mail through the phone book to send your password.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Hey guys, first I'd like to say how impressed I am with all the great work you guys have done.

I have a razr v3m from verizon and have been having a lot of fun doing little tweaks and things. The only problem is, I can't get the seem editor to work. I did the seem edit where you change Verizon Wireless to say anything you want, but can't get any of the other edits to even show up. I open p2kseem, it detects my phone and says connected, but when i enter in seem: 2742, record: 1, and bytes: 0000, it loads for about a minute and then nothing shows up. The white screen in the top left of p2kseem just stays blank. Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for any help,
    Vince

    1) Where on your phone does this icon show up. I have never seen i I dont think.

    2) So u can succesfully pull ur videos, they just dont have sound? When u go into video options when recording on ur phone, is there an option to turn on "record sounds"? I have flasehd to alltel and it is a setting i have to enable. But when I save the video to my comp, and I use Quicktime to view it, I hear sounds just fine.

    3) Low battery beep is only quiet on vibe and silent I believ i read. Again, I am on alltel so cant confirm. Plus my battery lasts 4 days easily so I dont run into this problem

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Why thank you, Cincy. The video does have sound when played back on the phone, but not in WMP. I'll try quicktime and see if that works. As for the accessory icon, it appears in the center of the gray bar (where the alarm and vibe icons appear. I guess it's just a glitch and can ignore it. There is one other problem I'm having. I set-up google as a proxy to get free wap, but I don't like it, since navigating the web is extremely slow and cumbersome with such a tiny display. I undid all the changes I made so that I could get back the "my account" information, but when I attempt to access verizon's mobile web I get a connection error. Do you know where I can find the original domain/connectivity information to restore the phone to it's default setting?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

No prob. Yea i think quicktime is the only program that can play the audio from 3gp vids. Just b/c im curious, what does the accessory icon look like? I am on alltel now and like the fact that my ring icon is in the top status bar near the battery so it doesnt cover up the date on the lcd screen anymore ;) But I never recalled any out of place icons. Thats neither here nor there.

As for the web problem. How did u set urs up? You used the Google as a proxy right? If so, I dont think you should have changed the default VZW webseission. U just creatd a Google Websession right? If not, Im not sure what to tell you. I can open my VZW websession and list what I have in each field if that is your question.

On a side note, I used to use Google as a proxy, ad it was quick with EVDOenabled. But what I found better was disabling EVDO, and using DUN to connect my laptoip thru my phone at 1x speeds. I find it faster to browse the net at 1x speeds on my laptop, rather than at EVDO speeds thru the phones browser. I know i always dont have my laptop with me, but in that case, I remembered how to switch back and forth from EVDO to 1x so I can access the net on my phones web.

To turn off the talking phone featues; menu>tools & settings>sound settings>scroll to "talking phone settings" press enter. You can turn off the talking keypad digits and/or the talking contact list entries! :D

What phone do u have? The V3M uses Brew which means you can only buy the game from Verizo. It gets signed to your phone, and your phone only. You cant save it and use it on another phone. Now if thats a Java game, you wouldnt even be able to play it on the V3M. Please let us know your phone model and service provider.
