    Re: RAZR V3m

I haven't read all the replys here but the Motorolas E815 is not listed as having an mp3 player. I recently got one and it plays mp3's just fine via the trans flash card. I just put the card in and recycled the power to format card then put the files in the music folder and it recognized them and plays out of the sounds menu.

    Re: RAZR V3m

Well I finally got it to work after i spent like 70 bucks on a memory card and a 12-1 card reader. Yeah if you can get a card reader it is WAY easier plus i don't have to deal with USB cables and stuff now. All you have to do is plug it in then transfer all your WMA's to my_music through windows explorer. Then click manage music. It's possible to do it without the essentials kit but i reccomend you buy it anyway because it has software that renames your music when it is incompatible. Plus if you want to use headphones you have to buy the kit. I found out today that the little adaptor that comes with it is for a headset and well i guess you couldbuy an adaptor or just use a headset you already have. Works great once it's on the phone though.

    Re: RAZR V3m

    Ok
    1. The battery had to be sacraficed to ake the phone thin and it's really small so it gets bad battery life. Plus the screen is big and so on.

2.The display themes do change just not much it only really changes what color the little bar at the top of the screen displays. On the default setting the Get It Now screen is orange but on tropical it is now blue. Not much difference but it's there.

3, I'd say it does only display date when it's on ring you just have to open it up. I can't confirm this though.

Hey everyone today i returned my Music Essentials Kit at verizon for the second time, but instead of getting a third i just took my money back...what i did was a few days ago i purchased a 1 gig MicroSD/TransFLASH Scan disk chip with the SD adapter which comes with it...can be purchased http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EEZCEG/sr=8-1/qid=1151094202/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-5802922-4904139?%5Fencoding=UTF8 for very cheap! also i purchased a ScanDisk MobileMate SD+ Reader which is a USB plug...can be purchased here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000652LUG/sr=1-1/qid=1151094335/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-5802922-4904139?%5Fencoding=UTF8&s=electronics i put the memory chip in my phone it then put some folders on it and i took it out...i then placed the chip into the mobileMate SD+ and connected it to my PC....what i then did was found some MP3's that "magically" apperaed on my PC dont ask me how cause i have no idea...i then converted the Mp3's to WMA files i then went to My Computer and when to Removable drive opened up the My_Music dir and placed the songs on the chip... i then put the chip back in the phone and WAHLA i had some songs on my phone...

Yeah the kit is not exactly needed but I would reccomend it because of the renaming filenames software. Plus it's the only way to get head phones. Yeah my new card reader is sexy. Cheap too. No drivers! I'd have a Mac but there's so many things that aren't compatible.............

    Re: RAZR V3m

Customer service at Verizon told me that there is a known problem with some of the Music Essentials Kits. Evidently there are a lot of kits that are marked incorrectly for the V3m phone. If the kit you received has black and silver headphones it is the wrong kit! The kit that works with the V3m has BLUE and silver headphones. Their going to ship me the proper kit and call the store to see how many of the incorrect kits they have in stock. Verizon charges about $30.00 for the correct kit. The kit the store sold me was $20.00.

I just got my Verizon V3m today. I've been reading about getting music onto the phone, but I was hoping someone could tell me more about getting photos and videos off of the phone... if you store pics on the Transflash card, can you simply pop it in your computer and copy over the files?

    Re: RAZR V3m

    PLUS

A lot of us, myself included have been trying this using the drivers that wickdaddy posted. Think it is possibly these drivers are the incorrect ones that RJW is talking about?

Someone asked about Bluetooth. Well I used to connect to my old phone (Sony Ericsson T630) through bluetooth for pics and ring tones. I could not get bluetooth transfer to work with my V3m. Almost like the phone is locked against it /sigh.

I ordered the 1 Gig card on Amazon like others have mentioned and I plan to use my 7 in 1 reader on my printer. Its just annoying to have to pop out the card to change the music.

Another topic I heard mentioned in this thread is P2K. From my surfing around the web Ive lost the link of a thread which talked about P2K Commander. More specifically that the V3m can play .mp3 which are your ring tones however they must be a system file. Using P2K you can toggle your .mp3 files as system files so you can play them. However I don't know much about this stuff.

    Re: RAZR V3m

    Hi,
I got my V3m Friday and had the same problems as everyone else with the USB drivers. I found the following info along with a link to a patch file from Motorola on the HowardForums (thanks Tutontow). Worked for me. I used the driver provided by Wickdaddy (just pointed to the "USBMOT2000.INF" file during the found new hardware routine.) I don't have a memory card yet, but now I can sync to Windows Media Player and load up a couple of songs (after converting to wma format.) Here's the info:

    ===================================================
I spoke to Motorola at great lengths yesterday. They are aware of the V3M problem. They have a fix / patch posted here.

    http://promo.motorola.com/exe/mtpfix.exe

I had to get my phone (V3m) recognized as a modem first. That meant turning off the phone and plugging it into my PC and then installing the USB driver that came on a CD from Verizon. (Use the Wickdaddy driver here.)

Open up the the Windows device manager and make sure it says Motorola Modem.

    Leave the phone turned off.

The next step was to run the fix I downloaded from them. Then when I turned on my phone it was recognized as new hardware as an MTP Media Player.

The main thing was to make sure the PC sees the phone as a modem. Make sure it is still turned off otherwise windows will try to install the V3c drivers before the patch is applied. After you apply the patch turn the phone on and then you should be able to install the drivers needed to let windows see it as a Media Player

    ========================================================

    Hope this info helps.

You'll still need the headphones from Verizon to listen to music (or play them on the little speaker :) I'm more interested in moving photos and playing with ring tones, so I guess I have to get a card to play with that.

    Re: RAZR V3m

That's interesting! When I first called Verizon they switched me to a Verizon Data (something-or-other) person, who switched me to a Motorola representative who promptly told me that it was a Verizon software problem that I would have to talk to Verizon about, that Motorola couldn't do anything about it! So I called Verizon back, explained what I went through, they of course apologised and told me that the driver problem was a known problem with their Music Essentials Kit and that they would ship me the correct one. Obviously not all Verizon and Motorola Reps know what they are talking about. Thanks for the link to the patch. I'll give it a try!

    Re: RAZR V3m

YES! It worked. And with the USB driver that was on the disk that Verizon said was the wrong disk. Time to start downloading songs from my computer to my phone. Ahhhhh.... the power of the Internet. Nothing better for disseminating information. Thanks!

When you have your cable pluged in, does your phone try to charge? I only get the lowest bar to blink, not sure if it's charging. I hope im not jacking up my battery.

Yes it says it's charging, but it stops after a few minutes if the phone is already charged (Didn't really time it). The screen saver will also come on after a few minutes if the phone is open, but the animation stops after a couple of minutes.

I also own a Palm Lifedrive which will charge from the USB port. It's takes a lot longer to charge than with the normal charger.

Thanks a lot it worked! Now for my question though, how do you find these songs that you synced up and put them as your ring tone? Anyone have any idea? Thanks!

As I mentioned, I don't have memory card yet but here is some info that I found on the other board. Maybe somebody with a card can try this to see if it works:biggrin:

    F440
    ==============================================
By the way, here is some info about ringtones, mp3 and BitPim.
You need BitPim, mini SD card (flash card), cable. No seem edits. Keep the phone as it is.
    -------------------------------
First prepare the flash card. Format it on PC using FAT32. Shut off the phone. Insert the card. Start the phone. Probably you can format the card by the phone, but I just trying to share how I did it. So, it is up to you to check different way.
    -------------------------------
    Playing mp3.
Rename your *.mp3 files to *.mid.
Put them to the root directory of the TF card.
You can do it directly on PC or by BitPim via cable.
Reboot the phone, you can play now all those files. To keep the mp3 files here is a wasting the time and pace. You can play them only one by one. You can not use player. So, this is good only as the first step to add ringtones. To listen them all, synchronize you phone.
    -------------------------------
    Adding ringtones.
Move mp3 ringtones renamed to mid from the root directory of the TF to the phone:
Get It Now -> Get Tunes & Tones (All of the available files appear on the bottom).
All preloaded ringtones have 2 Options:
    1. Set as ringtone.
    2. Set As Ringer ID.
There are no options to move or delete.
All added files will be marked by C (CARD).
For them you have only 2 following options:
    1. Rename.
    2. Move.
Select needed file -> Options -> Move. It will ask you to move audio to the phone. Select YES.
You can move as many files as you want.
When you are done, using BitPim go to the root directory of the phone and deletes 2 files: TmpTneDB.db and MyToneDB.db.
Reboot the phone (by BitPim if you want to). Now all of your ringtones are ready.
All audio file phone keeps in Motorola/Shared/Audio folder. Only the phone has access to that folder. By BitPim you can only read/save the files. When you try to add or overwrite existing files, BitPim shows the message similar to “This folder is locked by manufacture”.

In Media Player, click on the "Sync" tab.
    On the phone:
    1) Get Tunes & Tones (item 1)
    2) Sync Music (item 5)

It takes a few seconds to connect.
You should then be able to add the wma file to the phone.

    I'm new to BitPim.
It wouldn't autodetect the V3m, but if I set it for V3C and manually selected the port (Com 4 in my case) I was able to see the pictures and my phonebook. Haven't tried uploading anything yet. (Busy getting some yardwork done  )
