    That may be the problem in device manager it says 3.4.0.0 dated 10/17/2005. I'm not sure where to obtain the 4.21 modem driver but I will look and see if I can find it with a search.

    Version 4.21 can be found on the thread. You are doing the correct thing by searching.

    Also, once you have installed it and MS installs it stuff, reboot your system. You should not have much trouble then.

    YES SUCCESS!
    I want to point out that this post solved my problem:

I used the driver provided by Wickdaddy (just pointed to the "USBMOT2000.INF" file during the found new hardware routine.) I don't have a memory card yet, but now I can sync to Windows Media Player and load up a couple of songs (after converting to wma format.) Here's the info:

    ================================================== =
    I spoke to Motorola at great lengths yesterday. They are aware of the V3M problem. They have a fix / patch posted here.

    http://promo.motorola.com/exe/mtpfix.exe

    I had to get my phone (V3m) recognized as a modem first. That meant turning off the phone and plugging it into my PC and then installing the USB driver that came on a CD from Verizon. (Use the Wickdaddy driver here.)

    Open up the the Windows device manager and make sure it says Motorola Modem.

    Leave the phone turned off.

    The next step was to run the fix I downloaded from them. Then when I turned on my phone it was recognized as new hardware as an MTP Media Player.

    The main thing was to make sure the PC sees the phone as a modem. Make sure it is still turned off otherwise windows will try to install the V3c drivers before the patch is applied. After you apply the patch turn the phone on and then you should be able to install the drivers needed to let windows see it as a Media Player

    ================================================== ======

    Hope this info helps.

    You'll still need the headphones from Verizon to listen to music (or play them on the little speaker I'm more interested in moving photos and playing with ring tones, so I guess I have to get a card to play with that.

    ---------------------

    I want to thank all who posted to help me out. I now have pictures and music coming over correctly.
    Thanks again everyone. :)

    Ref. the tabs, I may have reversed them in the tutorial. As far as the first Yoda skin I posted, it was a test and I did not vary the image for the tab. The new Yoda skin and the Vader skin do vary.

    Thanks for all the info!

    Thanks for the feedback on the tutorial. I don't want to confuse anyone. Making skins for your own phone should be fun to do, but a confusing tutorial or one with errors could just frustrate people. I'll fix it as quickly as I can.

    I made my images using Paint Shop Pro 8. Any decent image editing software will work. I like PSP8 because it is simple and powerful (has lots of easy to use options).

    I can't wait to see all of the skins that will eventually pop up.

    Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Did you upgrade MPT to version 4.21? And did you get the latest driver tools for 4.21?
    When MPT asks you to choose your modem tell it you want to choose from a list then you will see the modem options choose the Motorola Modem and then choose the v3mm option from the list.
    And if you have edited the seem in your phone to transfer bluetooth and usb, then it should work.
    If you need to seem edit then look back in this thread to secton 40 thru present the instructions are there. Ohyeah real important find the seem that allows file transfering to qspt and check that to unlock it.
    Rewboot the PC so the new drivers can be used.

    While you are posting, click on the arrow next to paperclip. This will take you to a screen called 'Manage Attachments'.

    While you are here, look below in the 'Attachment Key' area. This covers the file types and the size of the files you can upload.

    In one of the 'Upload File from your Computer' spaces, click on Browse. This will take you to your computer, where you can click on the pic/file you want to upload.

    After you 'picked' the pic/file, click on the 'Upload' button. This will upload the pic/file to your personal area on this forum.

    To put the pic/file in a post, click on the 'Insert Image' button. It is the one that 4th icon from the right (yellow looking and looks like a mountain with a postage stamp on it). Then just click on the pic and it will display it.

    Hope this helps and is not tooo confusing.

    Has anybody else noticed deleted pics still reside on the file system....???

    My new question is does anybody know what codecs we need installed on our PC to play the audio from recorded video created via our phones - I can transfer the video over, but the audio will not play(not supported)

    Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Just got a notice from Susteen, for DataPilot. They have 'finally' upgraded their product.

    For the V3M:

    Phonebooks and Calendar - it will read and write to/from the phone;
    Movies - it will ONLY read; and
    Images - it will ONLY read
    That is it. Won't do anything else.

    So they have a LONG way to go to get their product working for the V3M.

    ------------------------------------

    For the V3C:
    Phonebook - will read/write to/from the phone;
    Data Connect - will read/write;
    Movies and Image - will ONLY read from phone.
    Will NOT work with anything else, no even the calendar.

    So they have more work to do for the V3C, also.

    They are really going to have to get with it before I shell out an initial $50+ and then $35-40 every 6 months to keep it updated.

    Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    I have synced my phone to Windows Media Player 10 and have transfer 30 second song clips. Is there any way I can set them as ringtones?

    I also have Motorola Phone Tools 4.0, I have a V3m, but there is no option for a V3m, only a V3c and a V3cm. I have tried the V3cm and it did not work. Does anyone know how I can get ring tones to my phone from my computer. And I already converted all the songs to WMA and WAV format and neiter of those work. When I hit transfer it says "connecting" and then a window pops up that says can't communicate with phone. Please help.

    Check out the V3M Wiki. There is enough info here to allow you to pilot the Space Shuttle with a Razr:)

    Songs sent thru WMP10 are in WMA format and cannot be applied as ringtones. The format for ringtones is mp3 and midi, and must be saved on the phones memory, not a transflash card.

    To get MPT to correctly connect with ur phone, have you done the seem edit to change your phones description from v3m to v3mM, as well as the seem edit to enable OBEX transfer? Once you do that, coupled with making sure u have the most up to date version of MPT (4.21a), it should giv u the option for v3mM and automatically allow Multimedia funtion. In there u can transfer mp3s to the correect place for use as ringtones.

    Alright cool, thanks for clarifying that. I have not done the seem edit to change my phone description from v3m to v3mM or to enable OBEX transfer. How do you do that? And I don't know where to find the MPT 4.21a, do I need to buy it or can I download it online? When you go to live update in the MPT 4.0, it says the latest version you can download there is 4.03. Thanks.

    This link has everything u need to do the seem edits
    http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=SEEM&PHPSESSID=7bc12ce8a7bf6d2e441de0789754dd6e

    MPT will update 1 version at a time. So go ahead and update to 4.03. Then once that is done, check again, and u can keep doing updates 1 at a time til u get to 4.21a. No purchase necessary ;)

    Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Five weeks ago I purchased a RazrV3m, Motorola Phone Tools 4 and a 512MB SD card to replace my one and only Nokia, circa 1999, instrument. I did not recognize that Verizon had crippled the Multimedia Studio and other file transfer and storage features related to photos.

    With your help in the 1350 posts to this forum I finally got the proper seem edits made my V3m to transfer pix and flix to my computer this evening. The final hurdle was having Multimedia - File Transfer Studio freeze up during early stages of transfer.

    My trouble shoot solution was remembering that someone had posted a comment on maximum path length for the phone's transfer operation. As soon as I reduced the path length to well under 30 characters to my computer folder, the transfer proceeded without a hitch. Thankyou, whomever you are.

    The forum is great and the contributors are greater. In my 72 years, I look at tonight's accomplishment as one of the finest I've made, knowing, however, that it never would have been possible without all of you. I am not a computer nor a cellphone expert.

    My suggestion: Read, take notes, read, experiment, take notes, read more, think about what you've observed, more read, more experiment, more notes. The solution is there. We'll find it with a bit of effort.

    This is my first post and it is one of thanks to all of you.

    Ccongrats TW, I had the same scenario. Thanks to the wealth of information on this thread I was able to do what you have done. I love beating the Man.
    I had a long conversation with Verizon today, all they could do was lie to me about the reason for crippling the phones the way they did. After listening to this poor underpaid mule ramble on about how this phone would not be capable of transfering files with bluetooth or usb cable, and how Verizon was actually doing us a favor by allowing us to download from them. I had to tell him I was transfering Ringers, Pics, and was well on my way to finding a way to do movies for free. He had nothing to say except that I probably had voided my warrantee. I had to laugh because he did not realize that my contract ran out at midnight last night and I am now a free agent operating without bonds to the Man [Verizon].
    I am sure that soon a lot of rear end smooching will begin, I can hardly wait.
    ANyway good luck and keep the faith.:D

    Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    OK looking at the postings so far it looks like there have been a lot of problems and all of them solved so I am trying my luck. I recently bought an LG VX9800 and a miniSD memory card. I loaded my songs (all of whic are not protected and have no lisences) in wma format onto the memory card and got 9 songs to play out of 27. I tried to find help on the Verizon Wireless site but they had me reformat my memory card which made it so I could only play one song of the nine. I looked throughout the web and found page 3 of this thread which somewhat helped me. With the WMP10 Bonus pack thing and the Plus! Mp3 Audio Converter LE thing, I converted all of my songs, but when I put them back onto the phone, only 2 of them played:mad: (one new one:D and one old one:) . ANYTHING that would help me figure out what I'm doing wrong would help me.

    Some of you might know what I am talking about when I saw VLC - Even playing recorded video (which btw is 3gp format) I still could not hear the audio .....

    .... Until I install the free divx codecs/player .. then I could hear the sound. I noticed when I took it to work I could hear the audio .. only difference on that pc is that I had divx player installed ... came home, install divx player ... and wham I could hear the audio from recorded video from the phone.

    ..so hope this helps someone else...

    How many characters, and what characters, make up the name of the songs that will not play? Can you give an EXACT song name as an example?

    Give an example of one that will NOT play an one that will play.

    Kanye West - Brand New Feat. Rhymefest (Full) -- Doesn't Work

    _________________________________________________________________
    Bloodhound Gang- Ballad of Chase -- DOES Work

    **All songs listed are spelled as they appear in the phone. I also realize that the working ones dont end in .wma so thats not the problem (i already tried that anyway)

    Ahhhhh. Files cannot be longer than 37 characters long including the extension.

    The extension would be

    .WMA

    .MP3

    .GP3

    etc....

    or 4 characters.

    I would make it a habit of not exceeding 30 characters and you will be covered.
