Re: Adding Browser Options to V3M

I had the same problems with BitPim, neve did it work for me. I got MPT working fine though so I guess I dont need it. Still curious though. I like BitPim so simple to use.

Thanks for the reply. Too bad. I gave in and subscribed to Military Madness - great game.

Im wondering if we cant use those java games even though we can enable java only because it was not built into verizon's menu .... if this is true, I would assume if the menu item could be added via a theme update... but I wouldnt even know where to start with that type of hack.

    Side Note:

After I run p2kseem, and restart my phone - I noticed the only way I can get the phone to be recognized again is by running the motorla software update package I downloaded from a link in this thread ... by the time it gets the part where its telling me I already have the latest version - p2kseem edit can detect the phone again...

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I have not one idea about games, I dont play them as of yet on my V3m.
But yes you have to run MSU in the Background to make P2K work, MSU prepares the phone for P2K.
SO just startup the MSU, then open P2K, and edit to your hearts content. I only edited the USB Options, and the ringtones of course.
    Good luck.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I just recently started working with playlists in the vcast player and of course it's pretty tedious pushing buttons on the phone forever.

Does anyone have any info on how to create/modify playlists on the v3m without doing it manually? It would be so great to just edit a file and transfer it to the right place on the phone, although that seems unlikely the way it's setup.

I've had very little success browsing the phone filesystem using bitpim, but the times it did work I was able to see a lot more than I can via mpt. I'll have to review this thread and see if a specific version/driver is required to make that work better. Anyway, thanks in advance for any info -

This happens to me too. I found out that by rebooting clears up the problem.

I happens a lot when I use MPT and then try something else like BitPim.

Also if it happens while using BitPim, click on Edit -> Setting -> and then choose the Browse button across from the Com Port. IF Motorola USB Modem is in the Inoperable Ports section, rebooting will clear up the problem.

Another thing you can try with BitPim if it happens again, is click on Edit -> Detect Phone. This will sometimes also take care of the problem.

Please turn-off the upper-case posting. It is very irritating to read.

I wish I would have known you wanted to know about the Master Reset. It is in the owner's manual on page 74.

    :) Thank you rwsrichard,

I followed your suggestion on how to get Windows Media Player 10 configured for use with the V3m and after the 2 downloads and following
step by step I now have music on my razr from my own collection.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I just had to reformat my flash card because media player bombed out on transferring a song. At that point the vcast player went completely buggy trying to load the library and the whole phone crashed. had to pull the battery and power up and down repeatedly to get it going again.

at that point the only recourse was to reformat the flash card and load up the tunes again. what a pain. this is what I get for using the verizon method of music file transfer. they don't even give you a way to move pics and flix off the phone, what's up with that? grrrr  the phone still seems slower than before but maybe that's just my impatience. I wish verizon would come up with an improved interface that we could upgrade to, but it will probably be a long time before that happens.

one thing I noticed about mpt is that the transfer is very slow, whereas media player is fast for moving music onto the phone. but mpt is the only way to copy my pics and flix onto the computer that I know of.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Just got a new Razr phone V3m (verizon). I'm going through the process of trying to get it setup to pull over my custom pictures and windows media player songs.
I've had limited success with some of the different software you guys suggest here. I have a custom picture I was able to get on the phone overwriting the vcast picture on the phone. I would rather just load files on to the phone. I was trying to get more functionality when I ran into a problem. My computer keeps detecting the phone as a V3c instead of a V3m.
I am planning to use windows media player to sync music files onto the tFlash card I have. Also want the ability to put pictures on my phone. I'm just stuck right now because it keeps trying to load V3c drivers on the machine when I plug in my phone. I've made a mistake somewhere just not sure what I did.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

CPTBeaker, I have create my own skin per your tutorial. It works awesome, but I have noticed one small difference fro myour instructions. Unless I am using a different version of the brew resource editor, the bmp i use for my selected tab and the one for my unselected tab in the mainmenu, are flip flopped. According to ur directions, u upload the main image 1st, then the selected tab image, then lastly the unselected tab image, for each of the 5 menus. I have triple checked and the image i loadedu p for the "selecvted tab" is showing up on the "unselected tab" and vice versa. Not a huge deal, but just something I noticed. Again, could i have a different version?

PS - I thought i noticed in ur skin of yoda that ur selected and unselected tab images didnt vary, did u use the same one for both?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Windows recognized both the v3c and v3m as the "v3c" dont worry about that. lety it install for v3c andu will be fine. is that the only problem u are having?

good idea syncing ur msuic with wmp10 to ure transflash,. that is the cleanest, simplist way.

as for ur media transfers, if u are just doing pictures, are u using bitpim? or do u have access to Motorola Phone Tools (MPT)? Bitpim wont let u access ur audio files, MPT would be required for that. Bitpiom as u may know is free, vs MPT costing roughly $25

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

For some reason I can't find the driver on my machine when I have windows try to auto detect it. I already tried to install it but it just acts like its not on the system. I have a copy of MPT, already tried Bitpim with limited (rewrite existing picture file) success. I think you are right about the wmp10 sync. I guess my real problem is the driver is missing or just not being seen.

Thanks for the info though I was starting to get worried. I am still wondering if I will need to do seem edits to get everything working correctly. Just want my own pictures and music on the transflash/phone.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

The 1st step is to get your phone recognized as a modem. When u connect it, does your phone start charging? If so, have the proper driver installed. If not, have you downloaded the "Driver Tool"? Windows doesnt have the proper driver in its system, you have to download it, have you done that yet?
If you have, and it supposedly installed the correct usb drivers, try connecting the phone when it is off for it to automatically install correctly. But again, if u havent downloaded the correct drivers yet, you need to do that 1st. I will attach the drivertool fiole u need to get the proper driver/. By the sounds of it tho, if u have conected to BitPim ,seems like u have the driver already.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I hate to keep asking, but has anyone found a way to get rid of the Verizon logo (not the animation, just the logo) that is displayed immediately upon start up?

Also, I changed my phone to military time, but the alarm clock remains in a.m. or p.m. (12 hour) mode, so I can't set it for any p.m. alarm times. Is there a way to change the alarm clock to 24 hour mode as well?

And my last question (which I know has been asked) is has anyone found a way to reprogram the 3 locked softkeys? I hate how they all go to Verizon's pay-per use services.

    1) No one has found a way to get rid of the initial Verizon splash yet that I know of

    2) I have not seen any seem edits for military time alarm clock yet

    3) No. Only the down key can be set. How do the other 3 go to their pay per use service. Right key goes to menu, down is whatevert u want, left goes to your picture and movie folders, and up is the internet, but that can be modded to be "free", just takes up air time unless its on the night and weekends ;)

how do you make mobile web free? I was reading the tiki, but I don't know what WAP is.

And as far as using the phone to get a laptop online, is it really free except for airtime?

    Thanks

I dont know if anyone has noticed this, but deleted images/pictures on your phone can still be found via bitpim browsing the file structure .... I noticed pics I had deleted via the phone menu options still were showing up via bitpim even though the phone doesnt show those pictures anylonger....

    Whats up with that?!

www.motov3m.com then go to Free WAP Method #2 for the easiest. That is free WAP on ur phone except for airtime during peak time

To get a laptop online, u can visit www.hacktherazr.com for the best guide for DUN (dial up networking) . It requires u to disable EVDO, as u can only connect at 1x speeds.

good luck, not too hard if u can follow directions ;)

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I've set up dial-up networking and that works great, but I'm still a bit confused about WAP. According to hacktherazr.com,
"it is possible and likely that you need to sign up for the WAP service first... this will just help you avoid any extra charges if you use WAP alot or you may even be able to use AIM for free." So do I need to sign up? If so, how much does it cost? And how do I get AIM on my phone? Right now I pay 10 cents for each text message. I would love to be able to IM for free, but I want to be sure I'm not going to get a huge bill before I start trying to set up WAP.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I did that and was able to get military time, but if you check the alarm, it's still in 12 hour format. The only option on the alarm is am or pm. So if you set the alarm for 1 pm, it'll never ring because in military time, there is no 1 pm. It works for the a.m. times because for the first 12 hours of the day, military time and civilian time are the same. Ultimately, I had to switch back to 12 hour format so the alarm would work.

First, thanks for creating this thread/sticky!! I've spent a good portion of yesterday reading through many of these pages.

The tips, advice, seems, walkthroughs, links, spreadsheets are allll Excellent!!

    I just have 1 question:
The wallpaper I have on the inside of my phone, is the same photo that is on the outside window. Is it possible to have a different photo appear on the outside window? (If not, not a big deal, just was curious.)

I did have 2 questions, but I just figured it out why p2kseem wasn't working even though it said 'connected'. I didn't realize it was necessary to keep MSU running Everytime you want to use p2kseem, maybe that should be part of the FAQ? Thanks again!

    1) So i assume u did the seem edit to the graphic on the outside instead of the orange background? If so, there is no way to get a different image for your background and lcd while closed. Whatever ur background is, thats what is displayed on the lcd screen when closed. You can change the lcd image while the flip is open to not use the Verizon image that is there by default. Let me know if u havent done that and would like to.

    2) I guess it depends where u learn ur processes. The site I learned from mentioned to keep MSU running in the background as it keeps ur phone in the proper programming mode in orderto perform the seem edits in p2kseem

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

This is good information in that I was able to get the motorola usb driver/modem showing again with the phone turned off.
I have loaded BitPim/driver tool/also motorola phone tools and it does detect my phone correctly when its off. If I turn on my phone I get a request for loading a new driver V3c and it removes it as a modem every time I try this same process with the phone on.

So my big question is what am I doing wrong that makes it try to get a new driver the moment the phone is on? You are definitely leading me in the right direction. I'm not sure what step I am missing here.
    Thankyou for your help.

Which version of the modem driver are you installing?

There is two versions of the modem driver. Version 4.21 modem driver must match MPT version 4.21.
