    It's not under the battery.

Remove the Battery Cover, then remove the battery.

Look to the left of the battery pins on the phone itself and you will see a slot. The SD card goes there. There is a little notch on the side of the SD card. It will 'seat' into a pin on the right-side of the slot.

Watch wich way the pins on the card are pointed.

    Adding Browser Options to V3M

I'm trying to follow the instructions on this mod as described in the wiki: http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=Browser.

I have gotten as far as the "QPST Configuration" step, and there things get weird. When I go to "add a port" the only ietm in the list on the left is Com3 which says its some sort of USB data device...so far so good. But when I click OK to add it, it shows up in the list as "SurfXXXXX" (the word surf followed by a long string of letters and numbers). The baud rate does not show as "USB" as in the instruction sheet screenshot and the phone number is not mine. I tried ignoring this and going to the next step but QPST's EFS Browser only shows an unnamed folder with no contents on the left.

Can someone steer me in the right direction?

    Thanks,

    Evan

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Hi,

I've done all the seem edits on my V3m described here and elsewhere to enable MPT bluetooth transfer, EVDO tethering, Vib+Ring, etc. and at first it all worked fine, but at some point I started having strange trouble with Bluetooth - the computer can only connect to the phone once after the phone has been powered on. After that, it can't "find" it. Then I have to turn BT off on the phone, restart it, turn BT back on, restart it, and then computer will "see" it, but again - ONCE.
And MPT stopped seeing it completely - just says "communication port unavailable". (USB connection works fine). Has anyone encountered this problem before?

And by the way, does anyone have a complete set of "seem" files (that are supposed to go into "nvm/seem" folder when you use QPST)? I think maybe I messed up another seem accidentally by possibly writing wrong number of bytes when I uploaded edited seems, and would like to try to reload all seems at once. So if anyone can get the complete folder with original (or edited, but working) seems, I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Ok, Don't know if I am in the right spot (new to this particular forum) but I am at my wits end. I have spent a lot of time in the sales and repair of GSM phones, therefore, my knowledge of CDMA isn't very vast. I am repairing a Mro V3c for a friend and for the life of me can not find the problem. The phone will not power on at all. Yes I have tried the simple replace battery etc etc. Looking inside I expected to see some internal damage, but to my surprise... nothing... all connections clean and in good order, no broken, bent, or corroded wires, it looks PERFECT.... and yet... no power.... the 4 battery contacts are connecting properly when depressed as well.... does anyone out there have any ideas on what may be the problem?????

My suggestion is to take it to a service center and let them look at it. It should not cost you anything.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Is the phone a Verizon Razr V3C/V3M?

If so, there are several things you need to do. You will need to do a 'seem' edit to enable USB transfers between your phone and computer. Additionally, you will need to aquire a program that will allow you access to your phone's file system. Your phone will not show up as a removable drive in Windows. I recommend you get 'Bitpim' or 'Mobile Phone Tools V4'. Either of these two programs will allow access to your phone's file system.

In order to do a 'seem' edit on your phone so 'Bitpim' or 'Mobile Phone Tools' will work, you will need to get the following two programs: MSU - Motorola Software Update and PK2seem. In addition to these two, you will need to get the appropriate drivers for the Razr.

    See the RAZR Wiki at:

    http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php

The wiki will help you figure it out.

But the thing is, I have the music pack that i bought form verizon, which comes with a driver disc and a cable... If they sell the pack, then i shouldn't have to seem edit my phone to get at my files.

The music pack will not allow access to your pictures - even if you get it working. Verzon wants it that way so you have to use GIN to get pictures and you have to use picture messaging to send them out. (BTW - Windows Media Player 10 and a USB cable will sync music with the V3M for free)

In order to transfer pictures like you want to, you have to gain access to the file system, which will require a seem edit.

    Re: RAZR V3m

I just want to say Thank You to everyone here! I have been reading this forum for a few days now - I was so pissed off when I bought my razrs (2) and bought the mpt software for $50 ! I sent the software back since verizon blocked everything I got the software and chose the phone for

..then I found this forum ... I have read up to pg 23 or 24 ... I just also wanted to point out I did have to change mine to V3MM - even when I would try to set it (mpt) to recognize v3cm, it would not detect my phone... so setting it to v3mm, unlocking file transfer - did the trick! Whoooo Hoooooo!

Now, I gotta finish reading since I am interested in adding games :)

    Thanks again!

Re: Adding Browser Options to V3M

The 'surfXXXXX' is not uncommon, however you should see USB under baud and your phone's ESN should also be displayed on the Port Properties window that pops up.

    The obvious questions...

    - Did you seem edit to enable QPST file access?
    - Is Verizon your carrier?
    - Is your cable plugged directly into the USB fort of your computer or is it plugged into a hub? -f it is plugged into a hub, plug directly into your computer's USB port.
    - Are you running MSU while running QPST? - if so, you should not be.

    - Did you piss off your phone by any chance? :)

Hey cousin, I tried the Music Essentials also, but never got it to work correctly, so I took it back.

Your best bet is to use Motorola Phone Tools or MPT. I am going to be in class tonight and will be out all day Thursday. Give me an e-mail on Friday or this weekend when you have time.

There is also a free product called BitPim that will allow you to access all the features of the phone, but I think you will still have to SEEM the phone to turn on the OBEX for transferring files.

Even with MPT, some people had to SEEM their phones to turn on the OBEX switch.

Just got a v3m and had a couple of questions. When i open the flip on mine, the main display will be bright and then go dimmer. Is this normal or some kind of anomaly? Second, what do the display themes do? From blue to business to tropical, i can't find a difference.

The dimming is a battery saving feature. The backlight is simply shutting off. The length of time can be set in the 'Settings & Tools' menu under 'Initial Setup ---> Backlight'. The display themes don't do much. They basically change some colors on the various menus.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Hi, I got my V3m a few days ago have been reading here and other places on the net. I didn't want to take a dive off the deep end and decided on just a few seem edits instead of flashing the phone. I did all the ringtones, file transfer, and time/date menu.

I noticed the time/date menu (008d bit6) didn't have a description next to it. I was able to transfer a mp3 ringtone using BitPim. :) It seems to lose connection sometimes.

I can't seem to find the "new" ringtones the seem edits are supposed to turn on. When I connect the phone, run MSU, run P2K, and load from phone I see all the edits that I did. I can't find the time/date menu either. What am I doing wrong?

My friend just gave me MPT 4.0 and Motorola branded USB cable today so I'm going to try it out using MPT. :D I love free stuff.

Ah ha! I think we're onto something. The instructions said to use msu to put the phone into standby mode (or something) before using QPST. I figured that meant I had to leave it running.

Ok, I found the ringtones. I saw them while I was changing some ringers for different things like VM and stuff. It's strange that they don't show up with all the other ringtones.

I'm still trying to figure out the time/date seem edit.

The V3m is a music player, it plays windows media audio (WMA) it will not play MP3. I just copy the WMA's to the Media Card from my pc. Then place the media card back to the V3M and voiala, I have music.
But I cant seem to get any ringtones to work this way. Butstill trying.:D
