I tried what this site suggested, and it did not work. I am going crazy! If i cant figure out something that works, I will be in trouble. Is there a master reset or something i can do to get it back to normal, or anything else?

    torch,

The wiki is for the benefit of all of the oppressed Verizon RAZR owners:) , and since it is a wiki, all of us can make it better. If you see things that are wrong, missing, or hard to understand, feel free to make changes. Nobody will get offended.

Re: Motorola RAZR v3m-seems don't match up?

well, I didn't want to leave anyone hanging as to whether or not I figured this out...

Thank you soooo much, the screen shots were the key (as well as more instruction from mark venture's forum page on seem edits.

I was MISSING the fact that you have to move the cursor through the window of numbers to find the correct line (up or down--intuitively got that one on my own:biggrin: ) and then offset (right and left--missed that completely and was only looking at line 60/offset 0060-represented by "cb" NOT offset 006a represented by "e3" in the big window :O )

now I understand that scrolling through all that "junk" (as mark puts it) is how you find the right bits to turn on and off:rolleyes: !

as a side note: the PC calls my phone v3c (which I strongly object to!) in the install new hardware popup at the bottom of the screen. this TOTALLY freaked me, as I had read A LOT about flashing to the Alltell v3c and the resulting loss of the card slot, etc. (I bought the v3m BECAUSE it has the card slot!!). However, that does not seem to be an issue...yet:rolleyes: .

    :D :D :D rwsrichard, THANK YOU for all your help!!!!:D :D :D

    -torch

    Editorial follows:
I found the motov3m wiki guides to be lacking in a lot of details (like scrolling throught the window in p2k, when to plug in the phone, how "install new hardware" should be handled, etc.)

The following directions were more complete even though they were not v3m specific (I went with the first set BECAUSE they were specific to the v3m!:O ):
    go to ---> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/index.htm
click on "Seem Edits" in navigation on the left, then scroll down to "Required..." on the page and start from there.
I know that following this instead of the motov3m guides would have made a lot more sense for me... ;)

    stevman,
don't know what the exact problem is but check out my previous post (#1143 on this page) maybe it will help? I deleted all the software from my initial try and downloaded and ran everything from mark's directions.

I have not worked with the TEST mode on my phone. It seems, no pun intended, like everyone is having problems when they get into the TEST mode.

I would try to PM rosenjon since he has played around with it and see if he can help you out.

For the SEEM list we have, these are the only ringtones we have.

    Ringtone: Moonlit Haze
    Ringtone: Siren
    Ringtone: Vib-Dash-Dot
    Ringtone: Vib-Dot
    Ringtone: Vib-Dot-Dash
    Ringtone: Vib-Dot-Dash
    Ringtone: Vib-Pulse
    Ringtones: Attention
    Ringtones: Classic
    Ringtones: Continental

The HelloMoto ringtone is a new one. Where did you get the info on this one?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

So has anyone else had a problem syncing with wmp10? I've done all the fixes in this thread, read countless forums, and can do everything else but sync with wmp10. WMP10 will recognize my phone for about two seconds while it is in the sync mode, and then loses it. Then the phone says

    Connect Failure.

Please check your blah blah blah press end or blah to blah

I've tried it all and even talked to Verizon and Motorola. Verizon said I need the music essentials kit due to the "Licence Agreement". Motorola said it is a known issue and a fix will be coming out soon.

    Any ideas?

Will make ringtones or whatever for whoever can help me solve this problem.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    try this:

I found how to get it to work. Here you go, taken from Festus440 over at wirelessadvisor forums.

    Hi,
I got my V3m Friday and had the same problems as everyone else with the USB drivers. I found the following info along with a link to a patch file from Motorola on the HowardForums (thanks Tutontow). Worked for me. I used the driver provided by Wickdaddy (just pointed to the "USBMOT2000.INF" file during the found new hardware routine.) I don't have a memory card yet, but now I can sync to Windows Media Player and load up a couple of songs (after converting to wma format.) Here's the info:

    ================================================== =
I spoke to Motorola at great lengths yesterday. They are aware of the V3M problem. They have a fix / patch posted here.

    http://promo.motorola.com/exe/mtpfix.exe

I had to get my phone (V3m) recognized as a modem first. That meant turning off the phone and plugging it into my PC and then installing the USB driver that came on a CD from Verizon. (Use the Wickdaddy driver here.)

Open up the the Windows device manager and make sure it says Motorola Modem.

    Leave the phone turned off.

The next step was to run the fix I downloaded from them. Then when I turned on my phone it was recognized as new hardware as an MTP Media Player.

The main thing was to make sure the PC sees the phone as a modem. Make sure it is still turned off otherwise windows will try to install the V3c drivers before the patch is applied. After you apply the patch turn the phone on and then you should be able to install the drivers needed to let windows see it as a Media Player

Subject: How to correct syncing issues with Motorola V3m and Music Essentials Kit

If a customer is having difficulties syncing music after installing the Music Essentials Kit (ex. Sync Failure, Device not recognized, etc.), the following steps explain how to correct this issue.

1.) Have the customer install the drivers that come with the disk.
2.) Have the customer turn off the phone off and then plug it in to their USB port.
3.) Go to Device Manager (on the customer's computer) and make sure under Modems it says Motorola USB Modem (it may have a number after it).
    4.) Leave the phone off.
    5.) Go to <http://promo.motorola.com/exe/mtpfix.exe>
6.) When the Window pops you will get the options: Open, Save, Cancel, or More Info. Choose Open.
7.) Once the file completes, Power the phone back up.
8.) Open Windows Media Player and Select Sync Music option on the phone under Get It Now>Get Tunes and Tones.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I can get my computer to recoginize my phone as an MTP device, but WMP10 does not recognize the MTP device. Depending on how I install the phone, the MTP device will have drivers installed or no drivers installed under device manager. These fixes do make the phone become recognized as an MTP device, WMP10 just can't find it.

In the control panel under Portable Media Devices, nothing shows up. Strange. Even the Safely Remove Hardware tab comes up in the bottom right of my screen, but nothing is shown under it. Either my drivers are completely screwed up, or this is a much more indepth problem than a simple fix program.

One thing i would suggest for this ringtone is find it online somewhere as a mp3 or something, then just load it on there using Moto Phone Tools.

Thats all I can think of about this one.

Find out what brand of phone your friend has. If it is Motorola, MPT should allow you to take it off your friends phone and you can use MPT to put it on yours.

BitPim might even do the same thing.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    asd990

I had the same exact promblem i think. from wut i understood you got evry thing else to work (msu, mpt, bitpim etc) but when it comes o wmp 10 no good.

well wut i did was i took my phone to a verizon store n all they said was we will gladly swapp phones with you. but i did not want to take the chance on getting refurbished so i decided to hold off.

my suspcion was me trying to get every thing else to work i downloaded n installed to many drivers n registry things. each time i plug in windows automatically look up drivers etc.

so i went to my friends computer who does not have a motorola phone. so that was a clean slate for me to work on. before i plug the phone in i pop in the cd for music essentials kit n just install the drivers thats it.

then i follow these instructions exactly http://support.vzw.com/how_to_use/v3m_sync_music_fix.html the fix is there as well. but this time when you plug in phone make sure when windows asks to find n update drivers them selves click no evry time. even after the fix it will still ask you to update when ever you plug in phone i ignore it evry time n my phone still connects to wmp10.

if all this works you know its not your phone but you have too many drivers n unncessary things loaded on your own computer. since i already did all the seem edits i want i just reinstalled windows made sure i could connect to wmp10. n i insatalled mpt after i intalled wmp10. after seeming those 2 r the only programs you reali need. ( I had no use for my desktop so i completely errased both my harddrives so it was a fresh computer. however i dont think you need to go to those extremes for it to work)
    hope this helps

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Hi all--

Thanks for the information! I have been looking att the site for a whille and I can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I have the V3m phone and got the motorola tools cd. I installed it, but the little onscreen phone always says "initializing" and I that it cannot get a phone image?

I would like to set it up to do seem edits and use the media option. However, I cant seem to access the right 'setup' file to change the modem.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks-

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

This is how I did it.

    Installing MPT via cable.

    System, software and hardware:
    Windows Xp w/SP2
    Available Internet access
    Motorola Phone Tools ver 4.0
    mini-usb to full usb cable

1.) Install the MPT 4.0 software, read/follow the instructions on the screen as it installs. In the process of installing the MPT software, it goes out on the internet and checks for updates. You will be prompted to download, then install the update(s). At this point that is ALL you are going to do and that is to keep updatinguntil there are no more updates.

If you are prompted to 'enter/select a Phone Profile'. Do NOT do it, ignore it, let it set there, do not touch it. :) All you do for this step is install MPT software, download and install the updates. That's it, nothing else.

2.) Reboot your system when you are prompted to. When the system finishes rebooting, click on the MPT icon to activate the software.

3.) NOW 'enter/select a new phone-profile'. Do not use 'Default', give your setup a name, example: 'Dad's V3m, cable' or whatever turns you on. Click on OK twice.

4.) the 'phone wizard' screen will display. Choose CABLE option and click on Next button.

5.) you will be prompted to 'turn on phone', 'connect phone to cable', then 'connect cable to USB port on PC'. Do it.

6.) 'Phone Setup' then starts installing needed drivers. It will then try to detect your phone. If it does not detect it, allow it to launch 'live update' to try to get your drivers and then redect your phone.

Step 6 is IMPORTANT. It will 'try' to detect your phone TWICE. Allow it to go through it's process.

7.) when it cannot detect it for the second time, you will be prompted to select your phone and drivers. Choose CDMA from the list on the left and then choose V3cm from the list on the right. then click Next.

It will go through it's detect process again, but should find it this time. If it did, you will get a 'Congratulation!' screen displayed. Do not click on anything as the next screen will display automatically - at least mine did.

8.) The 'Phone Setup' screen will display. this puts the MPT Phone icon on the desktop. Watch the 'phone screen' as it will show 'initializing phone, please standby ...' This may take a minute or two.

Once it connects or finishes initializing; in the upper left corner of the MPT phone screen it will show a strength meter when it connects. The upper right hand corner, will show the strength of your battery. Using your mouse you can you the full function of the MPT phone keys to make calls, end calls, check your mail, etc...

Also note that the options: phonebook, calendar, multimedia studio, synchronizing and txt messaging icons will be grayed out until you move your mouse over them.

I would first like to say thank you to all of those who have posted in this site, for without your help my phone would still be behind the iron curtain that is the Verizon wireless company. That being said, has anyone tried uploading a distro of linux on to the phone to play around with that?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Thank you all for your tips & tricks here. I've been bashing my head into a wall over my new razr 3vm. Seriously considering flushing it- or bringing it back to verizon & strategically inserting it into a sales rep. I tried MPT, which doesn’t recognize my phone- the calendar portion seems to see it, but then doesn’t actually put the entries onto my phone. The software doesn’t actually see my phone- it keeps bringing up a similar model- but with no multimedia tools. I’ve been emailing back & forth w/ Motorola- they try to be helpful, but I don’t think they fully understand just how much verizon hosed up this phone. I’ve been with verizon for 10 years, and have never felt such angst towards them. I really can’t believe how verizon took this phone & made it totally use-less (except for the people who are inclined to pay verizon for every dot of info they put on their phone).

That said, I’m going to try to seem my phone this weekend, using the info here http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=SEEM . I know it’s similar if not the same as what’s posted here- which is good- that it’s not just one person recommending this. My question- if I brick my phone- is there any way back? Or am I stuck with a slightly less useful phone that what I currently have?

    Thanks~

I'd like to get MPT to recognize my phone.

I'll start by uninstalling the software. The last time I did this I don't think I uninstalled all the files as during the install it already knew my profile info.

Anyone have a list of files to delete using regedit?

If your phone doesnt have the 'sync music' option, you will have to have if flashed to the most recent version at a store.

You can get a complete list of SEEM's on pg 38 post 1130.

    Just right-click, save-as.

BEFORE you do any SEEM'ing, and AFTER you do the following:
    1.) Set the following fields:
    Bytes (h) = 0000
    Seem = 2742
    Record = 0001
2.) Click on 'load from phone' button
3.) Click on 'save to file' button - it is always a good idea to 'backup' before you make changes. Give name of file if/when prompted.

step 3 allows you make a saving BEFORE you make changes, so you can go back to the original settings.
