Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Got this info from another board.

    Software: WinAmp

Note: Sounds and Graphics stored on the Transflash card cannot be used as a Ring Tone or Picture ID. Pictures/Sounds to be used as Ringer/Caller/Picture ID's must reside in the phone's internal memory!

Ring tones.... The V710/E815/V3C/V3M supports.. General Midi (polyphonic), iMelody (monophonic), MP3 files and Yamaha SMAF format .MMF files as ringers. Note: When making ringers, keep in mind that for Verizon phones, the ringer only plays for about 25 to 30 seconds before the call is sent to voice mail. If you phone is set to Vibrate then Ring, the play time will be even less. So, save phone space, and trim your files down to be 30 seconds or less.

For ring tones from MP3 files... While any MP3 file should work, I have found it is best if the ringer is a Constant Bit Rate (CBR), Mpeg 1.0 Layer 3 (as reported by File Info in WinAMP), 20 to 25 seconds as a maximum Length, no ID3 tag and use 48kbits/44kHz/Mono.

Note: If MP3 will NOT REPEAT on the phone, "stutters" or "skips" or simply do NOT play, convert to Mpeg 1.0 Layer 3 and removal of all ID3 tags, they should work fine.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Another note on audio quality, I recommend NOT using the wma conversion in windows media player. When I first got the phone I let wmp convert and transfer and the sound quality was noticeably very poor. I took the same files and converted them to wma first using soundforge (any decent audio editing program should work), then transferred to the phone and the sound quality is far superior. plus you can select the bit rates and types and experiment with quality vs file size etc.

here's a good program for people to try if you don't already have something:

    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Also, go to microsoft and download the wmp 9 codec pack, it could be helpful for wma converting.

Oh, fyi I dragged all of my converted files into winamp and played them last night, they sound fine - no digital chops or skips. So that tells you right there that the vcast wma player is the problem, I thought it could have been a problem with the mp3 to wma conversions. I know I won't get any satisfaction but I'll probably complain heavily to verizon about this (again) as it falls more under the category of "you sold me something that doesn't work correctly"

I've not done much with BitPim myself but I did notice in the settings there is an option to not allow updates to the phone. Have you checked that?

    V3m as Audio Player

    Hi folks,

No one responded to my earlier post so I'll try to ask again in a different way.

Besides headphones, how do those of you using your phone as an Mp3 player output your audio files?

    Re: V3m as Audio Player

I got a 1/8" stereo adapter for the motorola dongle thing (is it 1.5mm? can't remember the exact size) and just plug it into a stereo from there. The wiring isn't quite right, I have to jiggle the cord but good enough, it works when I plug it in the right way. There's a company that makes usb adapters for the motorola phones but I don't have the link saved, I'll post it back here when I find it again. No idea what price they want for their adapters...

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Make sure that when you send to the phone that the "ADD" boxes are checked. If the "ADD" boxes are grayed out and all you can do is replace, then you might have to select a different carrier/phone. My carrier is Verizon, but to get the add buttons to work, I had to select the V3M that is located under Sprint.

here's one that lets you use standard 3.5mm headphones instead of the 2.5mm size that fits the standard motorola dongle thing -

    http://www.eliteelectronics.co.uk/Motorola_Audio_Lead.html

I know there's more like this out there, same idea, you just have to convert it to whatever inputs you want to plug the phone into. it's been nice to plug the phone into my car stereo and listen to tunes...it's my ipod now...less gadgets to have to carry around, no camera or mp3 player in my bag now, just the phone which I carry all the time anyway...

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Hey guys I'm having a strange issue with my flash card. I installed it, formatted it, I copied over some video to it in the right format, even played it once or twice. After some unspecified time, the phone stops recongnizing the card alltogether. I take it off and put it in the computer, but it works fine and I can see all the files. So I reset THE WHOLE phone back to stock (which was a pain in the but) so I could take it to Verizon and yell at them a little, and suddenly it recognized the card again!! So I played the videos and no problems. I did the usual seem edits I had before and, again, after some 20-30 mins, it won't recognize the card again!! I DID notice the my phone is running hotter than usual however. Has anybody had any similar problems??

Plus most do not care what you do to the phone.

Besides, if you get the MPT with BONUS CD, it will allow you to change the phone up anyway.

After hours of surfing multiple sites and forums, this place is awesome! I can now customize and transfer my ringtones as well as images to my Razor v3m with ease. :) Just curious if anyone has any information on how to transfer java games from PC to phone and work successfully?

There is a SEEM that has to be turned on to activate JAVA.

There is also some free sites that have JAVA games you can download.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I'm in trouble. I put my phone into Test mode to try something with the GPS posted on another forum, and cannot seem to get it out. I tried the holding in clear then holding in the left soft key then releasing them , releasing the clear first, and it didnt work. Is there any other possible way to get it out of Test Mode other than this? I yhink my problem is my clear key, which has not been working properly to begin with, but is there an alternate way out?

    Phone w/card as thumb drive?

    Hi folks,

I just tried to load my 1Gig card with some files from work and it said the transfer was denied by the phone because of an unsupported file type. I guess the V3M only lets one load the card with files it can read? Is there a work-around? I'd like to use my phone to carry files of any type.

Re: Phone w/card as thumb drive?

    Try this.

Rename them to a file it can understand and then when you get them home, rename them back.

Ie... file_name1.txt rename it to file_name1.txt.mp3

When you get home and download it to your computer, take off the ".mp3".

Motorola RAZR v3m-seems don't match up?

wow, this thread has been really informative. I only wish that my v3m would cooperate!

here's what's happening. first, the disclaimer: I am a Mac user <gasp>, so I have to "borrow" time on a PC in the late evenings to do the actual work on my phone (and struggle to figure out how to do everything!). Last night I managed to (in this order) connect and sync to WindowsMediaPlayer10; download and install Drivee rool, MSU, and P2Kseem; installed the drivers from DriverTools; ran MSU (could not find the place to update on the motorola site--page said SU coming soon?), and connected to the phone (interspersed with messages from the phone about "unauthorized chargers" being connected, and new hardware setup calling my phone a v3C, not v3M); ran P2K with the 2747/0000 offsets and loaded them from the phone. Then got stuck. The seems that came from my phone did not match any of the seems that have been listed here---particularly looking for the USB/Bluetooth enable---006a/0 checked---none of the seems had the a suffix (0060 instead of 006a) and the 0 WAS enabled but the description said nothing about usb or bluetooth enabling. I should have written down what it did say, however...
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Is this because the PC thinks my phone is a V3C and not a V3M?
Any help or redirection would be greatly appreciated.
    and yes, I am a total noob!!!:O
Thanks for any help you can give!:)

Re: Motorola RAZR v3m-seems don't match up?

Sounds like something did not click correctly. The MSU should also display your correct ESN number. Also there is 3 buttons about midway down and to the right on the MSU. button #1 says 'connect'; #2 says 'check' and #3 says 'update'. Just below that it will tell you IF MSU is up-to-date.

Also MSU has NEVER show the model # (V3c or V3m) for my phone. So it maybe that because it recognizes your phone as a V3c, that-that is the problem.

Also make sure MSU is running in the background while you are using P2k.

So here what I would do.

First, here is a complete list of the SEEM's that we know about. (right-click, save-as)

    http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/a...-razr-cdma-versions-v3c-v3m-seems-for-v3m.xls

Take a look at this wiki for some help.

If you still have problems, then let us know in detail, what you did and what the problem is.

Re: Motorola RAZR v3m-seems don't match up?

I was following the instructions from that wiki...they did leave a lot out, like a step-by-step how to install the drivers with DriverTool <my Mac is showing>:D , and specifics for where to go in MSU to look for updates.

I did jump right over setting up BitPim (because I was hoping to enable usb/bluetooth and then get back to my native environment to make aesthetic changes not requiring seems). Should I have competed that step before trying to seem?

    -torch

also, i used the DriverTool421a from mark.cdmaforusm as he said that THAT was the latest version? the version from the wiki link is 1.0.0.1?

Here is the 'complete' snap-shot list of what your P2k should look like after you do the following:

    Bytes (h) = 0000
    Seem = 2742
    Record = 0001
Click on 'load from phone' button

    (right-click, save-as)
