Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Is there any way to customize the Front LCD screen of a v3m?

I hate seeing "Verizon" when the phone is open, and i hate seeing "Verizon Wireless" when its closed...

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

You will have to SEEM the phone to get rid of "Verizon Wireless".

    To Change the VZW Banner
    bytes (h) = 0024
    Seem = 296a
    record = 0005

Change "Verizon Wireless" to what you want, but do NOT change anything before the "V" or after the "S".

To change the logo/shutdown/opening startup of th V3m. Try this site.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Well, after about 3 days of reading, I have my phone exactly where I WANT it...I mean, exactly how it SHOULD have been... thanks Verizon. That being said, I still have a few questions.

    1) What are the .ran files you see in Bitpim in the /motorola/shared/picture file where the rest of the pictures are? Does anyone know what they are associated with? I would like to delete them if they aren't required. I have plenty of room with my 1 gb flash card, but I like to get rid of things I dont need.

    2) Can I delete the dumb stock ringers that came on the phone? I have added the ones thru the seem process as well as being able to create my own thru MPT. I have no use for the stock ones.

    3) I have seen this asked, but havent seen an answer...can we change/remove the static "Verizon Wireless" logo that displays for 15 seconds BEFORE the startup animation/sound (which I have changed successfully)? That would be the last Verizon symbol associated with this phone.

Thanks in advance, AND in retrospect for any and all help.

1.) do not know what the .ran files are. I have not heard of anyone removing/deleting them.

3.) See post 1084 to get rid of "Verizon Wireless" and a wiki site to help with the rest of the items.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Thanks, but I dont mean the "Verizon Wireless" banner, I have changed that. I mean, the split second you turn on your phone, there is a verizon wireless intro for 15 seconds, BEFORE the startup animation/sound comes on. Does anyone knopw if that is removeable/changeable? It is just a jpeg image apparently.

No takers on #2? I dont care so much about the .ran files. I can save one, delete it, and se if ti does anything. More inetrested in answers to #2 and #3.

    Thanks again

With all do respect, you are still missing it. The one you are referring to is in Bitpim under /motorola/shared/picture/customer_opening.gif. I have changed that one. I am still talking about the verizon wireless image that is static for 15 seconds. It is set on a black screen. Once it is done, THEN the animated one starts in conjunction with the sound. Anybody else get it?

What driver are you talking about?

I looked at the forum at motomodders and the only driver I saw was mptfix.exe. The same file we have been talking about on this forum for some time now.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I got bitpim to work and recognize my phone. On a different forum somebody posted instruction on how to change saved tunes form your playlist as ringtones. He mentions that using bitpim, you have to go to the phones root directory and chnage some settings, only probelem is that I have no idea how to access the root directory from bitpim. Its is on none of the menu items. Any idea??

The drivers i was talking about is motorola usb drivers. Something that you need download in order for your pc to recognize your phone as an external device. Maybe one of these guys can give more insight.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Anybody want to clarify how to use MP3 not MID files as ringtones for my verizon V3M RAZR? I have all the programs, BITPIM, MPT, MSU, of course WMP10 and a "song cutter". I have looked and looked, everyone refers to this 37 page thread and I think I have looked all over it for the anwser to no avail. I want to know how to take my mp3 music and make it a ringtone using MPT or BITPIM. MPT is saying incorrect format when I try to use both MP3 and MID files..what the hell???

Re: RAZR V3m: RINGER ID's not Remembered

Thanks!! This seems to work perfectly, although I have one question, if anyone has done this, do you have to delete BOTH TmpTneDB.db and MyToneDB.db ??
It seems that after I load up ring tones and do this, all of the ringer ID;s I set seem to not be remembered. Would it still work if I only deleted teh Tmp and not the My Tone?? Any insight into this problem would be appreciated

Re: RAZR V3m: RINGER ID's not Remembered

    Quoted from Festus440 "-------------------------------
First prepare the flash card. Format it on PC using FAT32. Shut off the phone. Insert the card. Start the phone. Probably you can format the card by the phone, but I just trying to share how I did it. So, it is up to you to check different way.
    -------------------------------"

Do NOT format the card on the PC first. Do it by the phone. It only takes a second or two and the phone puts a special 'TREE' structure called 'File System' on the card.

If this worked for you two, you were lucky, because a half dozen people said that they formatted with the PC using FAT32 and it BRICKED the card.

Even the manufacture put it in BOLD to format the card by the phone.

Re: RAZR V3m: RINGER ID's not Remembered

well I actually formatted the card using the phone...
But anyway. any thoughts on my original questions about the TmpTneDB.db and the My toneDB.db files. I know that when deleted they both come back, but which one do I delete so I can still keep my assigned ringer ID's when I load new ringtones??

    Root Directory file questions

So maybe I shoud rephrase my questions....
Does anyone know what the TmpTneDB.db and the My toneDB.db files are for on the root direcotory. All i know is that after I load up ringtones on my phone to my flashcard and move them to my phone they won't work until I delete these files (they come back when I reboot the phone), but inevitable my ringer id's all get messed up, so maybe I need to delete only one of these. Why do I need to mess with these files anyway?? Any insight would be really cool

Sorry 'bout that, but mine does not have that. I have the Verizon logo on the outside (the one that says Verizon on top of the check) and when you close it, the outside shows a orange Verizon wireless logo with the time and date stamp.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I used mpt mms studio to transfer an mp3 to the phone, the Melody Studio lets you browse the phone. I transferred two mp3 files to the audio folder under the root directory and they show up in tunes and tones along with all the other horrible verizon ringtones. Personally I couldn't find one single ringtone on this phone that I could stand listening to when I got it, I want a soft and subtle ringer and that's about it 90% of the time. Now I can blast out the Ramones the other 10!

This brings up my biggest complaint with verizon that really :censored: me off - this phone is a native mp3 player. I can play an entire song as an mp3 ringer but when I go into the verizon music player mp3 is an invalid file. Not only that but I hear a lot of digital chops while it's playing, I think it's the player not the files but I will have to verify that. Who cares about wma audio? Who here has a big collection mp3's and doesn't want to waste time converting everything before it goes on the phone? I don't think I'm the only one...

If anyone comes up with a way to play plain old mp3's on this phone that will be priceless. I see stuff about flashing the phone to the Alltel version of the OS, has anyone been through that process who can share some info? I'm certainly wary of torching the phone in the process, but I would love to do away with the vcast player limitations.

Seeming the phone to enable the motorola ringers and various other stuff was great, once again thanks to everyone who's helped out on this thread.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Tech,
All I've been doing is going into Multimedia Studio and selecting File Transfer Studio. I then open the ringtone folder and drag my files to it. The file doesn't appear there it appears in the audio folder. Not sure if I need to even have ringtone open but it is working ;).

Anyway, as far as the incorrect format, are the mp3's you're using from a download service that protects their content with DRM? (Itunes and some other download services use DRM to protect their music)

    Just a thought

btw, here is one I did, try it on your phone and see if you get the same problem.
