The one and only time I dl'd a song from WallyWorld, I got two files.

One was the song itself and the second was a hidden file that is the 'rights to play file'. When I moved the song file over to a new hard drive, I forgot the hidden file and it 'never' played again.

    So I never dl'd again.

Sorry for the song and dance. To answer your question, I have not heard of away to do it.

Another way is to burn the songs on a CD with iTunes and rip them with a CD ripper.

    NEWS FLASH!! NEWS FLASH!!

For those who have 'upgraded' MPT to version 4.21a, you will need the new driver in order to make MPT work correctly.

    View attachment Driver Tool-421a.zip

    Instructions:

1.) disconnect your phone from the computer.
2.) Unzip and run the enclosed Drivertool.exe
3.) Reconnect your phone to a USB port Built into your pc (DO NOT USE A PORT ON A USB HUB).
4.) Window's Add New Hardware Wizard will run, search for, find, install the driver, and your phone will then be listed as a Motorola USB Modem in device manager.
5.) From there you can use BitPim or MPT.

    Hope this helps.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I haven't looked at all 36 pages of this post recently but am wondering if anyone has gotten the verizon razr v3m to play mp3 files as opposed to wma only. I have lots of mp3's of course, and very few wma files.

having to re-encode every song I want to move to the phone is more than slightly lame, especially since it is a case of verizon wrecking the native capabilities of the phone by making it play wma only. Figures they would force everything to go all microsofty....couldn't they have made it play .ogg only or something cool?

I do like this phone in spite of all the complaining, it's a fun toy and the combination of features really make sense for me. I like the fact that it looks and works like a star trek communicator!

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Some helpful hints about song/ring tones.

    The V3M supports:
General Midi (polyphonic), iMelody (monophonic), MP3 files and Yamaha SMAF format .MMF files as ringers. Files to be used as ringers must exist in the phone's memory. VZW phones, the ringer only plays for about 25 to 30 seconds before the call is sent to voice mail. If the phone is set to Vibrate then Ring, the play time will be even less. So, save phone space, and trim your files down to be 30 seconds or less.

For ring tones from MP3 files:
While any MP3 file should work, it is best if the ringer is a Constant Bit Rate (CBR), Mpeg 1.0 Layer 3, 20 to 25 seconds as a maximum Length and no ID3 tag. The best balance for file size, quality and compatibility use 48kbits/44kHz/Mono.

    Renaming .MP3 to .MID:
Go into Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab. Find the box for "hide extensions for known file types" and remove the the check mark prior to trying to rename the file. Failure to do so will result in Mytone.MP3 being renamed as Mytone.mid.mp3 and the phone will receive it as a .QCP file which can NOT be used as a ring tone. Removing that check, mytone.mp3 will be properly renamed to mytone.mid. Be sure to set the check back after you are finished.

Renaming is not the same as "Converting" or "making the MP3 into .MID" and you may be disappointed in the sound quality.

Do not know. I looked in the SEEM list we have and cannot find any remotely for that feature.

    If you have a V3m.

I took snapshots of 'every' possible SEEM on the phone. You are welcome to dl that file and look at each page at the bit/setting's and compare them to your phones settings.

    http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/a...-v3m-seem-snapshots-for-motorola-razr-v3m.doc

There is also a 'original settings' file I obtained from another board, that has the settings BEFORE any SEEM'ing was done. You are wlecome to that. WARNING: As far as I know, no one on this board has tested it yet. I should be ok, it came from a reliable source.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

You have to have MSU running in the background, with your phone connected. Then run P2K.

After entering the bytes/seem/record, click on 'load from phone' button. Once it is loaded click on 'save to file' button. You will be prompted for a name. Give it a name and not a type.

It will be saved as a SEEM file on the computer and the computer will NOT recognize it if you try to open it. P2K is the only program that will recognize it.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

First off, THANK YOU ALL. I went on this forum about a week ago to find out how to put games I downloaded on the net on my phone. And although this issue has not been resolved yet, I have learned pretty much everything else I didn't know I wanted to learn about my phone ;) Now about the java game thing. Zhoule211, I actually bought NFS Underground 2 from Verizon just to see where it installs the game on the phone. If you are using BitPim, it saves the game under brew/mods/ directory and it just makes a five digit directory name where it saves all the files in the game. There are other 5-digit directories in there but I don't know what they're for. I tried to write anything to this directory but it's locked by the provider. Now, I don't know how to unlock it, how it comes up with the five digit name for the directory, or if it plays java games. Unfortunately I know next to nothing about Java or Brew or programming in general for that matter, but at least I thought I'd share what I found out.

P.S. rwsrichard: Somebody should build you a monument for the unbelievable amount of time you spend helping out everybody in this forum and for the patience that you display while doing so. My hat's off to you sir.

Wow! Thanks for the kind words. I am honored and kind of embarrassed. :O
    Thanks again.

Also, thanks for the info on the Java/Brew. We know that there is a SEEM for turning java on and off. But no one has really done anything with it, that I know of, so far.

You bring up some more ponts to ponder though.

Again, thanks. Wow! A monument. What to wear, what to wear for posing.

A patient of mine is an operations executive for verizon and I asked her if they could flash our phone via the "network" and she said no. The phone must ne flashed at a flashing station at the stores. In fact, she told that there is no way for them to know if the phone has been hacked :browani: unless they go into the phone itself, which you would have to take the phone into them.

You save it as what pkseem wants to save it as, which is a .seem file. Pkseem will allow you to open the .seem file if you ever need to restore your phone to the original seem.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

First of all thanks to all. The seem edits have made my phone worth having.

I am having a problem with BitPim though, when it comes to the comm port. It shows Motorola USB Modem, driverdate 2006-3-22, driverdescription Motorola USB Modem, driverprovider Motorola, driverversion 3.4.0.0, name
COM5, but it shows available False It was not possible to open this port. I have restarted the phone and my computer to no avail. Any suggestions?

MPT, PK2seem, and transfering music to my phone via WMP all work fine.

Has anybody found any free brew apps anywhere and if so have you tried creating a new brew folder for it and playing it?
