    Re: RAZR V3m

Hi everyone! BZ to this forum! I have learned so much in just 24 hours. I agree dick_onion53. There is so much info being put out here that it would be great to have one file with the whole how to process from start to finish. I want to seem edit but have not idea where to start. I did follow the instructions to get my music on my phone. That worked wonderfully! Just not sure what programs/instructions to follow next. Thanks for all the help from all here. BZ!

    WiLLy2900 :

My cd from cellcables.com with how to unblock everything was shipped out today hopefully it will arrive on sat... they are using DHL to ship it, never herd of em.

WiLLy2900, did you ever get your cd from cellcables.com? Has anyone else ordered from this company? I'm thinking of returning my accessories to verizon and purchasing the same ones at this site. Any comments on their service?

    Re: RAZR V3m

I also agree about everyones help and research. I have downloaded bitpim, P2K Comndr. and seem edit but have not used them. Ihave MPT installed and can see the multi media screens but cannot transfer anything. Editing MP3s and cropping them to 15 to 20 seconds and emailing them works, but the sound quality sucks. Also tried mobile 17 but that was worse than doing the editing your self. Iordered the CellCable "kit" and will wait for it before trying anything else (hate to lose what I have so far). Any way, good job to all of you and if I figure anything signifigant out Iwill post it.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Have you guys been to http://www.motov3m.com ?

This was created so that when the inevitable wave of people came, as is happening now, and tried to dissect the 28 page long forum, they wouldn't have to. I would suggest reading through the site first, following those directions, and then asking questions if those directions don't work. If they don't work, then post which step you weren't able to complete, and we can go from there.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Hello everyone:

Newbie here. I've looked up a lot of information about the V3m (just got it a week ago) and have done the following:

    • Loaded all the correct drives
    • Installed MPT (latest version)
    • Downloaded and ran the P2KSeem program
    • etc

While I initially had some problems seeing the phone (I was connected to a hub instead of directly to USB port on the PC) I managed to resolve the issues and was able to download the phone book and calendar from the phone using MPT. But, I can't get access to the other features (Bluetooth connections, tunes, pictures, etc).

So, I ran the SEEM program and was able to use the 2742 with the 0000 byte to "load from phone", exactly once. Before that, I saved the original SEEM with those parameters. While it's possible that I F'd up the first change, the phone is working OK. After I could not get MPT to run because of the USB connection, I installed all the software on another system. Now, when I "load from phone" right after starting the SEEM program, I get a blank in the data window. The thing is, I don't know if the SEEM program is really reading the phone or not. I was able to download a modified SEEM file and do an "upload to phone", but nothing is really enabled (Bluetooth still doesn't work), so I assume that the upload to phone isn't working either.

Again, the problem seems to be the way the SEEM program (P2KSeem4V710) doesn't seem to be talking to the phone. It does show whether the phone is connected or not. Also, I can't have the MPT running if I want P2kSeem to see the V3m. I've tried BitPim, but it's useless, since it can't open the port. And yes, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Actually, I ran the Software Update program and it made a difference. This time, it only installed the "Test" device, which is one out of four. That made the difference and I was able to "load from phone", make the necessary changes and then "save to phone". Now, the Bluetooth is enabled and I can see the "vibrate then ring" option. Still, I can't connect to my Bluetooth Radio (Silicon Wave) connected to one of my USBs. I was able to connect to it using my Motorola V600 and I was able to transfer files (mp3 and jpg) using MPT. I don't know what happened and why I had to rerun the Software Update. However, I still can't get pictures and sound downloaded to the phone using cable or Bluetooth. Is there another setting I have to mess with? Thanks.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

First off, you never mentioned which seems you edited. I am assuming that you enabled 0006a, bit 0 (instructions can be found here), thereby enabling file transfer to and from the phone.

If this is the case, then you need to enable multimedia studio in MPT, which is the easiest way to tranfer ringtones, etc to your phone. Instructions for doing this can be found here

Let me know if you have problems.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Thanks Rosenjon:

I had made the changes that were published for the 2742 seem as found here and in several other sites. They turned out to be pretty much the same.

After I re-run the Software Update and was able to modify the SEEM, I got a yang to try BitPim again. Lo and behold! It was able to find the phone (after I set the port manually) and I was able to read all the pictures and rings from it. After a bit, it was reporting that it could no longer communicate with the phone. Re-entering the software did nothing until I ran MPT, quit and re-ran BitPim. Still, I could not send any new files as ringers or any pictures to the V3m. It appeared to do nothing and checking the phone yielded no new entries.

Since I read your reply and rescanned for the phone using MPT, I was able to send ring tones to the V3m. It was the same case with pictures. However, it was weird. I had to exit MPT and run it again in order to see the new pictures and the ring tones listed. Also, I could not see the preset ring tones that came with the phone as I was able to do with BitPim, which I transfered to my PC.

Your suggestion to re-detect worked for MPT. Thanks. Now, all I need is for it to talk to the Bluetooth radio I have. I tried to re-detect the phone using your method and another similar procedure, but it didn't work. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Oh, one last question: What's the difference between the V3c, the V3m and the V3cm as they appear on the list in MPT? I had tried re-detecting the V3m using your method, but it didn't work. Obviously, you can't go strictly by model.

Alright, I looked everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE, and I did everything I was instructed to do to make my V3M work with BitPim, but no matter how much I try I cannot get the "Motorola USB Modem" to show up under "Available Ports" in the settings. I re-installed BitPim, reinstalled the V3M Drivers, but no matter what it remains under "Ports Not Available".

    What is the damn problem?

OK I've done everything on motov3m.com and was wondering if anybody had managed to get any free java apps on their phone. Also I was looking at deleting the initial verison wireless screen before my custom startup animation starts. Oh yeah and is there a way to enable pac man to a full non trial version without having to pay for it? Maybe just a ini file fix? Any other seem edits to customize skins and menus?

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Don't rescan with Motorola Phone Tools. This will reset the settings to the V3m and remove Multimedia Studio.

    1) Allow MPT to detect your phone as a V3m
    2) Follow these instructions: http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=MPTSETUP

Do this under the profile that you originally setup when it auto-detects as V3m. Then it will always load with Multimedia Studio.

To your question about the difference, the only difference is the V3m/V3c profile doesn't have Multimedia Studio, V3cm and V3mm profiles do have multimedia studio. In order to autodetect as V3mm, you have to do a seem edit, which isn't worth it, because the instructions I just layed out will allow you to always connect and see Multimedia studio.

Hey Addison, The software package from cellcables.com includes ALL you need to download music to your phone and to unlock your phone so you can use Motorolla Phone Tools (also included) to make and download mp3 ringtones and movies to your phone.
Using the software I also changed the picture on the outside lcd when the flip is open, I changed the outside lcd show whatever is on the inside lcd when flip is closed, I also extended the video recording time and added the vibe and ring option, and some other changes.. all of that without knowing any thing about seem editing. ALL the software and detailed instructions were included. I had to call Rick at cellcables.com once for help installing MPT and he was very kind and helpful. Good luck.

You can not listen to music using the bluetooth headset. I bought the motorola stereo headset $20, I use it to listen to music and watch movies. the sound quality is perfect and it is STEREO. The cool thing about it is it has a microphone and small button to make calls without getting the phone out. if you get a call while you are listening, the music will pause and once the call is finished the music resumes.

    yellowcard: Try these instructions: http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=Movies

I have never tried using quicktime to do this, but I know that the program referenced in those instructions works, and will give you sound. Then just copy the output file to the root of the transflash. I converted "Saw 2" to 3gp format and was able to watch the entire thing on my phone. It even played at normal speed.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Hi guys. Had been reading the thread since 9 am this morning. I got my V3m today and i was jumping up and down. I like it however i wanted to customize it like everyone else does here. I got the directions on how to do it. downloaded the motorola software update, p2kseem4V710 from http://mark.cdmaforums.com, also downloaded the mtpfix.exe, and the driver tool and even the bitpim. I do not have the motorola phone tool software though. Where do i get it from? Is it free? I have put a couple songs on my new phone from my PC using windows media player. It is great but i still want to be able to make it as my ringtone. I am very new to this and i apologize if most of this has been answered. i simply couldn't understand the full instruction and i want to make sure i am not f***** up my phone. Thank you so much in advance. More power...

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

PLEASE READ THIS POST COMPLETELY, then go back for links and suggestions afterwards. I will make suggestions and tell about some problems that I have experience with the software, and some remedies for these problems. I may not be back to check on this forum anymore, but I may still answer PM questions.

Ok, I understand most of everyone's frustrations. There is a lot of info in this forum to comprehend. What I recommend is using the links posted here for quick and easy instructions.

    Here it is again:
    http://www.motov3m.com

If you have not gotten all the tools yet, go here to get MSU, P2KSeem editor, and DriverTool, and follow the directions on the page carefully:
    http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=947130&highlight=V3m

Be sure to install Drivertool.exe first before you do anything with the phone. If something doesn't work right, don't be afraid to run Drivertool.exe again. I've had to run it about 5 times myself, as working with all these programs in conjunction has caused some conflicts. Think of as just starting over. This file installs the Motorola USB Modem driver, which is essential for all of these programs. To install 1) Make sure phone is UNPLUGGED from computer. 2)Run Drivertool.exe and allow unsigned drivers to be installed. 3) Turn phone OFF and plug into computer. Allow windows to automatically install new hardware when it asks.

To seem edit, you will need Motorola Software Update and P2Kseem. Install MSU first. When you plug in the phone it will ask to install 4 different drivers. Allow windows to automatically install each one. With MSU detects your phone, you can then run P2Kseem. If P2Kseem ever messes up, delete the program and the system files that come along with the program, BUT DO NOT DELETE YOUR BACKUP SEEMS!

If you do not have Motorola Phone Tools V.4 yet, here is a link to a torrent. (note: if you don't know how to use torrents and mount or burn .iso files, then you probably shouldn't be attempting to hack your cell phone) This one worked great for me:
    http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/hashtorrent/3421830.torrent/motorolaphonetoolsv4.0.iso.rar.3421830.TPB.torrent

YOU DO NOT NEED MPTFIX! This may even cause problems, I don't know for sure.

You will probably have to go through the phone setup with MPT every time you use it. It's not a major problem, just set it up manually as a V3cm every time, meaning when it asks tell it you will choose the driver.

BitPim is mostly usefull for changing pictures on the External LCD and changing startup animations and sounds. Instructions on how to do those changes can be found on the motov3m.com site listed above.
Important: BitPim is not setup to run with the V3m yet, so everything you see in the program is not fully functional. Use the instructions on the HowardsForum link above to set up BitPim for your phone. note: BitPim probably will not detect your phone when you click the "detect phone" button, but you can still get to the file system. You can access the file system by clicking the view menu, then show file system. Then click file system in the menu on the left. Click the + beside the blue folder to get a tree menu for the filesystem. All the pictures will be in there under motorola/shared/picture. Similarly, audio will be under motorola/shared/audio. The external LCD picture will be in the "mobile" folder; it is called verizon.gif. Accessing and changing the file system is about the only thing

One Last Recommendation: Please backup everything before you begin making changes... this means seems, files from within BitPim, and even music that crop before you transfer it to your phone (I actually lost ringtone functionality of some of my music and had to resend them to the phone.) Do not seem more than you really need. I did on my first run, and I had a few small problems. For seeming, I recommend you use the Excell Spread Sheet made by rwsrichard for reference; found here:
    http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/54510-motorola-razr-cdma-versions-post-your-post390218.html#post390218

Oh, and don't give up reading on this forum and start asking questions first. Read first, Try, then ask if you still can't get it.

    Hi All,

Thought I will share my fix for BITPIM and my V3M problem. I could not get BITPIM to recongize my V3M. Finally after some playing and reading the trouble shooting guide of BITPIM I finally got it to work. Here is what I did:

    1. Boot up BITPIM
    2. Click on Edit the settings
    3. In the BITPIM settings screen click on Phone Wizard
    4. In the Phone setting Wizard pick Verizon Wireless under Carrier, then Motorola under Manufacture, then V710M under models.
    5. Make sure you pick the proper comm port for your phone.

I did this after hours of playing around and it works great with the V3M. Try it at your own risk and remember to back everything up.
