    Listening to Music

    Hello folks,

I have, actually, read this entire thread and though the answer may be in here, I haven't found it. What I want to know is: what options are available for listening to music stored on my phone besides the built-in speaker?

Let me clarify. I know there is a stereo headset available from Verizon, but what about connecting to a receiver or speakers? What sort of patchcord would I use. For that matter, if I have access to a coputer, is it best to play music through the V3M software or just read the data on the phone's chip with my desktop machine and play the songs that way?

As you can see, this is all a little confusing to me.

    Thanks,

    Evan

There is no "original SD card." It's up to you to add one if you want it. I put mine in yesterday. Amazing what can fit on something so small...

Where to put the SD card...

Don't you have a manual? If so, it has illustrations on page 28. That being said, the slot is under the battery cover. It's a tiny slot that sits at a slightly higher elevation than the battery itself. It's just to the right of the white dot.

I don't know if this question was already asked and answered in this thread, but how do I get my V3M to work with BitPim? I'd like to change my start and shut off animation, as well as other things. (I'm a master at photoshop, so I'm gonna milk my talent all over my phone.)

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Thanks for all the info on seem editing. I recently switched from nextel after 6 years to verizon and I was worried about being able to edit the phone features. You guys are awesome. Its alot easier to edit the v3m using the right tools and techniques than it was my nextels. It's pretty ____ty that vzw disables alot of the features, but you guys saved the day and my wife and I are happy again. The next thing will be to disable the carrier string on the outer lcd if it's possible. Maybe someone could link the post number? I read alot of the posts already and got the wallpaper to show up, didn't really see anything for the carrier string though? Thanks again for all the help. This is now saved in my favorite places as I believe I will be coming here alot in the future.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

    Yes, I've read the thread.

I have a Verizon Razr V3m. Got it two days ago.

I have tried out the custom driver from the member on this board, DriverTool.exe, mtpfix, and I've installed MTP. I can use BitPim perfectly fine (with the exception of getting sounds, of course, which is expected) but every time i try to use P2kCommander, Windows suddenly recognizes four new hardware devices for which i have no drivers for (I guess):

    Motorola Communication Interface
    Motorola Communication Interface (again)
    Motorola Test Command
    Motorola MCU Data Logger

It's really quite irritating.. all I want to do is have my own ringtones! PST is very confusing, P2kCommander won't work for me at all, and BitPim doesn't work with ringtones.

Bottom line: I'm willing to SEEM, I'm willing to mess around with different drivers, I just want to have some audio ringtones (and a few cosmetic SEEM changes would be nice as well).

    ANY help is appreciated.

    Yes.

Read the thread. 28 pages full of information.

I went from knowing nothing to learning how to edit my V3M in 2 days.

You know...it sure would be nice if people weren't lazy.

    READ, PEOPLE!

Quit replying to a 28 page thread saying that you're "sorry if this has been asked before"...which means you haven't even bothered to look. Or search.

Richard and Jon, as well as others, put a lot of work into this thread to get the information out there.

All you have to do is read. If you can't do that, then there's no way you should be trying to edit your phone.

    It's all right here. Still.

I get the same error and yes I have WMP10.
I think it has to do with the license on the song.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

I did read through all 28 pages, twice actually, but I still couldn't find out how to make BitPM compatible with my v3m, so stop being an ___. I might've passed them but I went through this thread very thoroughly, took me about an hour and a half.

EDIT: Ok, just went through my fourth time and i finally found it, Rosenjojn posted it on page 11, so thanks Rosenjon.

But Stikle you still gotta cool down.

    Playing music from V3M

    Folks,

Can anyone take a moment to read my post above and give me advice on listening to music that I've already successfully loaded onto my V3M. I want to connect to a pc, external speakers, receiver or whatever.

Does anybody now how to remove the Verizon Logo on starup before the animated gif starts? I enabled the motorola startup but the verizon logo shows before the animation starts. Any help would be appreciated.

    Re: RAZR V3m

Hi. Have you used Windows Media Player to sync files? My phone seems to lock after about 100 songs. The only way to correct is to reformat the transflash card. So it seems to have a limit (not close to the 1gig memory card). Also, any luck making playlists and loading them to the phone? Thanks for the info. Cheers! Larry

    Stereo headphones

I wanted to use my own headphones with the V3m, and had a bit of trouble finding an adapter cable, so I decided to make my own cable that would let me plug my 3.5mm headphone plug into the 2.5mm jack on the little Mini-USB adapter that came with the phone (see "Razr Adapter.jpg" in the attached zip file).

I succedded, but with mixed results. Here's what I did:

    1. Bought a 4-conductor, 2.5mm plug from Mouser, P/N 171-7425 ("2.5mm Plug.jpg"). This type of connector is necessary, since the Moto wiring scheme uses one of the standard 3-conductor stereo leads for the mic in channel (meaning, if you just use a "standard" 2.5mm-to-3.5mm stereo adapter, you only hear one channel!)
    2. Cut an old 3.5mm stereo extender cable I had in half (I needed the female end) ("3.5mm Stereo Extender.jpg")
    3. Trimmed and tinned the leads of the cable ("Tinned Leads.jpg") and soldered them to the 2.5mm jack ("Soldered Leads.jpg"). Note how short the tinned wires are--the new 2.5mm plug is pretty small! Also note how the leads attach to little metal squares on the inner shaft of the 2.5mm jack.

    Here's how things worked out:

I get sound in both ears, but not true stereo! It looks like Motorola doesn't actually push out separate left and right channel information through their adapter, but rather mono to both sides! I verified this by creating two small audio files, one containing only left channel info and the other only right. When I play either one on the V3m, the sound can be heard in both earpieces. (And yes, I checked my solder joints--the channels are not shorted together!)

Can anyone verify that it's possible to hear true stereo via headphones on the V3m? Maybe one of those "direct" Mini-USB-to-3.5mm cables works? Or Motorola's own headphones?

I'd like thank everyone who posted on here. I'd also like to encourage those who haven't figured it all out yet to keep trying. It tool me about 2 days of reading and trying new things to get to where I am now. And finally, I want to share with you what my new startup screen looks like instead of the old Verizon Vcast crap.

With a little modifying to an original 300 x 300 pixel GIF using Irfanview and UnFREEZ, I was able to to make the 176 x 220 pixel GIF needed for the phone's screen. Then I just used Bitpim to overwrite the original customer_opening.gif in the file system.

    I love this phone!

How to Unlock pics. why some pics I took dont give that option?

I took some pics that are locked and I did not lock them. I want to unlock them but I am not given that option for some reason. Yet some pics I took do have that option available. I have seem edited for use with phone tools. I have used pk2 and copied. I have it synching wma's to internal drive through Windows Media 10. No problems there. Any suggestions on how to unlock pics? Also I changed my opening and closing animated gifs but now they are available in My Pix section. I dont think I want to have them available in case of accidentally deleting them. Can anybody help me?

Use Bitpim. It's pretty easy to install. You can find the info on how to set it up on some earlier pages of this post. From there, you can access the file system by clicking the view menu, then show file system. Then click file system in the menu on the left. All the pictures will be in there under motorola/shared/picture. I think all the viewable ones on the V3m are the .jpg formatted ones. You should be able to delete them from there, although I haven't done this myself yet.
