I am going to ask a really stupid quesiton on my part, but is the phone a V3m?

Also you are using Windows XP with SP2, correct?

Does MSU give the correct ESN # for your phone when it connects?

Have you also tried the 'check' button to make sure MSU is up todate?

Ran the mptfix.exe and still the same issue. MPT4.2.1a does not get rid of the MultiMedia sync does it?

Where/how can we get a copy?

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

Background. The first thing I did was run out and turned the OBEX for file transfer ON. Then when I installed MPT, the MultiMedai (MM) would not work. I then went back turned the SEEM for OBEX off. Then MM started working in MPT.

Please also note that I did NOT install updates or mptfix.

So let's give that a try with yours. Turn off the OBEX. Then reboot your computer. After reboot, turn your phone ON; attach phone to miniusb; attach usb to computer; start MPT. As you also noted, the options, phonebbok, calendar, MM, etc.. is grayed out until the mouse hovers over them, right?

Let us know how it goes.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

I tried to upload the file (4+ megs) to the forum but it failed everytime I tried it, so I put it up on my site. Here's the link:

    Motorola RAZR V3m Thread.pdf

I'll just keep updating it as the pages come. The title will stay the same so when it is updated, you will get the new version.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

Just wanted to know if I can use .gif files as wallpapers. If so when I use MPT to send it to the phone would I still put it in mt pix file?

    Thanks in advance.

    Good question.

    I am not sure myself.

Try it and let everyone know your results. I am sure someone else is probably asking the same question.

(Obligitory Homage....) Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! To all those who have figured out the tricks and edits posted in this thread: you are the reason my phone hase 100+ wallpapers and animated gifs, and 50+ mp3 and mid ringtones, videos of my fav stand up specials, and a few full-length albums to boot. I cannot stress enough my thanks to those who have put in the time to make this phone a keeper. Thanks.

Anyways about the Gif files as Wallpapers....I have tried it and with every (animated)gif i have, ony 1 frame seems to show (like it's on "pause"). Normal Gifs show just fine. Anyone else not able to use animated gifs as wallpaper?

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

Thought I'd post this as a note: I had everything running copecetic on my laptop, and then after installing, and uninstalling, WMP11, I can no longer get WMP10 to sync with my phone on my computer.

It works fine with other computers, but not with the laptop.

I am going to work on finding the fix for this and see which nasty driver/program is borking out my WMP sync. Everything else still works (BitPim, MPT, etc), just the sync is now screwed up. It does the same thing it was doing with WMP11, where it will recognize the phone for a second on screen, but then the phone times out and cant connect.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

O.K. I am working on the animated .gif file as a wallpaper now and will post my findings. Was wondering as I searched this thread if there is a way through the seem editing to get rid of those blasted pictures Verizon put on our phones. Any help is apppreciated.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

I got one of mine off of ebay, shipped to my house in 2 days, for less $30.

Got the other 2 off of yahoo, I believe, for less than $60, shipped to my front door.

They wanted between $40 - 60 apiece here in Austin.

Just go on the internet and do a search for transFlash SD 1 gig and start browsing.

I just bought a SanDaisk 1Gig vard for 44 dollars at BestBuy yesterday. It comes with a 10 mail in rebate as well. 34 bucks seemed pretty cheap to me!! Most stores will match that price to if you can get a best buy flyer!

O.K. reinstalled all software. I still get shut down after I hit "load from phone" button. Instead of the microsoft problem message,it just shuts down pkseem. This is driving me nuts. Software is up to date.
    Any ideas???

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

Guys, I'm in need of some help. I've read everything and tried tons of things. I set up MPT and get all the way to the program saying "initializing, please wait" and nothing. It just sits there. I've also tried to get MSU installed, but everytime I get to where it asks to plug in the phone, it never reads it. I know I'm missing something. Maybe the driver. Anyhelp would be great.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

ok its very important that you have the correct version of MPT (version 4) and also that you have performed the seem edit to allow transfers to and from the phone (not required to get past the initializing stage but you cant do anything fun without the seem edit... which voids your warranty). if you have no idea what you are doing go back to page like 11 or 12 of this thread for more detailed instructions. also, unless you really really know what you are doing, this is very very difficult (i didnt know what i was doing and it robbed me of sleep for a few nights). make sure you read up on how to perform these mods!!

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

I would tend to disagree with this...there is so much information in this thread that doing my first phone mod ever was extremely easy compared to what I was expecting...

That would indeed make a difference. Plenty of info here now if one has a day to read through and digest the information. That's what I did at work Monday and Tuesday. Better get back to working the rest of the week. ;)

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

I finally got my issue resolved. I still had to leave OBEX turned on. For MPT version 4.2.1a, I had to manually find my device. Whenever it scans the device it chooses v3m (which is what I have). But the MMS options are gone. If I manually detect the phone and say it is a v3cm, then everything appears (MMS, calender, phonebok, etc). Thanks rwsrichard for all your help and commitment to this thread.

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

OK, now everytime I try to open MSU. . . I get this pop-up:

    *******************************
    Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library

    Dubug Error!
    Program: c:\Program Files\Motorola\Software Updates\msu.exe

    abnormal program termination
    *******************************

Of course the first time it gives me the abort, retry, ignore options, and of course nothing helps.

It has worked great the past two weeks, now this. . .any ideas?? I've uninstalled/reinstalled, rebooted. . . .
    THANKS

Re: Motorola RAZR ( CDMA versions v3c v3m ) post your questions here

Hey guys. I just got the Razr v3m. I've had no problems uploading my songs to the Vcast music with the SYNC MUSIC, however I had a couple of questions.

The first being ... is it possible to make the Vcast music a ringtone? If not can i upload any mp3s or wav files to make a ringtone?

Also, i recorded some music off my computer speakers to use as a ringtone for the time being, however it is not very loud and i can't seem to make it any louder. Is there another way to make a louder or better recording or does the mic on the phone just suck?
