    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

I installed WMP11, couldn't get it to work, then reverted to WMP 10, and now that doesnt work. I think WMP 11 might have installed a different synch program, which seems to take too long to synch, so the V3m times out. Either that, or the software just isn't compatible yet. I know the phone is ok, cause it synchs with my other computer fine. It is just the computer where I installed WMP11 that is having problems. WMP11 can see the phone ok, but it can't sustain a connection with it. Haven't found a solution to the problem yet. WMP still seems pretty buggy -- if conditions aren't right, it stops working correctly.

i've tried mp3's and wma's and uploaded to various places but none of them show up in the music player. the only place i havent uploaded them to is the flash card as i dont have one yet. I tryed doing the wmp sync, but I'm using wmp 11 and that doesnt seem to work. I seem to remember other people having the same problem of uploading music but it not showing up in the music player. I've tried going back and reading all the posts, but i just cant find it anymore... ill try again

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

I hope it isn't much of a hassle me asking for this help. It seems to me that it may be basic stuff to you guys but I am lost. I have read alot on the boards and just find myself confused with the mix of info and even the terms or ling used is confusing to someone who is totally new at this.

first of all...I simply want to be able to download music and/or video to my V3m without purchasing the Vcast music etc. Will a regular USB cable not work?? Isn't there a way to make a USB cable work or to drop music files into my phone?

if I could drop files in like I do with windows explorer on my computer that would be awesome but if not...how??

I see mentions of "seem" and then about "BitPim". I know one is a program etc. but I think I must need this info summed up in idiot proof simplicity. *laughing*

mainly, I want the music files on the phone (Mp3) and then I want to use them as ringers. then the other stuff of changing the outside screen display and all that would also be nice and added fun.

    can you guys help me??

also...I read a post here giving step by step instructions on how to display multimedia functions. I couldn't find the menu options you mentioned in my menus.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

Ok, the forum is confusing because of everything being repeated so many times and cut and pasted so many times.

    A nutshell:

You can use WMP10 to ul songs to your phone.

You can use Mototorla Phone Tools to do the sames thing, BUT it also allows you to work with your phonebook, calendar, ringtones, wallpaper, etc... This cost around $40.

There is also the The Motorola Essentials Kit to do almost, but not quite the same thing as the Motorola Phone Tools for around $30.

You can also use BitPim to do the same thing and it is FREE.

The KICKER is this. VZW (Verizon Wirelss) has 'crippled' the phone so that some of the software will NOT work, as well as some of the features of the phone. Hence the SEEMING that some are doing so that they can turn the features back ON.

So to answer your question, because of what VZW has done, you cannot simply use a cable to dl 'items' to your phone. UNLESS you want to 'buy' it from them - which was their point for 'crippling' the phone.

Also it 'might' require you to have to dl and install updated drivers to get things to work properly.

I hope that answers your questions, which will probably cause you to have more question(s).

So do not be afraid to ask.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

    Wow...thanks so much.
Now, if I use BitPim...is this something I download to my phone or will it be on my computer allowing it to recognize my phone??
will I then be able to use a regular USB cable to ul songs etc?
or is there still gonna have to be a purchase?

I did try WMP10 but it wouldn't recognize my device. will BitPim solve that?

money is a deciding factor here. however, i will spend the money if I am risking messing up my phone with the programs.

    again, Thanks!!

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

Yes, you 'can' mess up your phone. Just be careful and you should not have any problems.

BitPim will have to be dl'd to you PC.

The cable required is a mini-usb to usb cable. It comes with some cameras, external hard drives, etc...

You may have to buy one. They range from a couple of bucks on ebay and other sites like ebay, or you can go to your favorite electronics store, Radio Shack, Wal Mart, Best Buy, CompUSA, Fry's, etc... and get the cable. Prices vary per store, but I have heard of $20 - $45.

After you have done all this, you need to start looking over and use the 'Search this thread' to search for BitPim and get the link to the site to dl it. Then get the insturctions on how to install it.

Next do the same thing for the Motorola USB Modem drivers and instructions on how to use them.

No BitPim will not solve WMP10's problem, but the Motorola USB Modem and the extra stuff Windows XP installs should take care of it.

That should get you pointed in the right direction.

Don't be afraid to keep asking. There is a lot of GOOD people who can provide help on this forum.

Hey I just got my Razor v3m a few days ago, I wanted to know what would be the best way to make custom ringtones. I mean best way as in what would get me the best quality for making a ringtone out of a song on my computer.

Motorola Phone Tools -- by far the easiest way to go, unless you want to buy professional audio editing software.

Someone else will have to help you with this one.

I have Mototorla Phone Tools. The MultiMedia section is ok as far as I am concerned.

Sounds good, where can I get that? If you can direct me to where I can get it for free, that would be best. I wouldn't mind spending a few bucks, though.

Unless you know someone who sill 'share', it runs around $40 with cables. Of course, you can get it on places like ebay and other for a lot less.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

And whenever you have an option to save to file...always do it first. I did it before every series of seem edits, so I could always roll back if I screwed something up.

That's where I bought my second USB-MiniUSB cable for my digital camera. Lo and behold, my new V3M has a miniUSB port. And the cable actually works! Bonus!

And a LOT of work has already been done. I spent most of yesterday reading this thread starting at page one, making notes as I went, especially of potential Seem edits I would want to make. I've noted every one that I've applied and had work.

And, I just now replaced the stupid Verizon animated startup ads-logo with a static picture using BitPM.

Now the only thing left, for me for now, is to change the red bars on the top/bottom of the internal screen to a different color, or remove them...one or the other. Hopefully someone will figure that out.

Thanks to all that contributed to this thread!

I just stole someone else's from elsewhere in this thread for now.

I mainly just wanted to see if it would work, and it did.

Maybe I'll get creative and put one of my cats there instead.

Any GIF at 177x220 should work fine. It only shows up for a second or two, and I was surprised that the VZ sound didn't play as well...which is good.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

ok, now I am completely blown away with this one. I have been converting little blurbs of songs with an online service for 2 days now and sending them to my phone (V3m). once I got them i would then send some of them (sounds) to my son's phone. suddenly, the last few I sent to my phone, then went to send as a pic message will not show up in the sound list of sounds I can send. If I go to my tunes and tones the sound is there but it is not showing in the sounds I can send (from within building the message). this was not happening just a few hours ago. what happened?? once before i saw a girl's phone that showed all these sounds but she couldn't send them or set them as tones as I could. both VZ.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

My dear friends. I am new here and must pay much respect to the people on this thread who have done the grunt work on these edits for our phones. All of you deserve a big pat on the back. Thanks for all you do. If I may suggest to the newbies the following as I have followed step by step what these guys have posted and it works great. I have done the seem edits with no problems and even now have my phone working with MPT.

    1. Print out the pages for the seem editing you will be doing. Read and label each step how you are going to do them in order.

    2. Follow the directions to word for word.

    3. back up your phone before you do any edits.

You guys are much nicer than people on other forms. Keep up the good work and I hope I can contribute soon!

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

I don't think anyone's had this problem yet, so I thought I'd put it out there: When I watch videos that I've uploaded to the memory card on the phone (I've tried with two episodes of a television show) they always seem to unexpectedly crash. The video plays for about five minutes (that's a rough estimate) and then everything stops and the Verizon screen pops up. Any reason that would happen? The videos run from beginning to end on my computer without error and my battery is full so I just have no clue what the problem is.

    Hi,
Been reading for 2 weeks now...great info. My question is when I'm trying to do a seem edit. I keep getting that dreaded MICROSOFT ERROR message.
    Close or Send info.
How the hell do I get rid of that NAG for good?

    Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply...ran all the files and steps from post 389 (link then to Howard forum) everything goes good until I get to "Run the PKSEEM applet. I get "connected" put in "2742" for SEEM and "0000" for bytes then click "load from phone" button, the SEEM pops up fine. Then the microsoft nag pops up.

p2kseem.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconveinience.

    send error report don't send

    I can't copy/paste any of the details.
This nag pops up on occasion for other software etc. Norton AV, HP printer.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

I have a v3m, I just downloaded MPT version4.2.1a, I lost a very important function to me: Multi Media sync. I had an older version and it had the ability to sync my mp3 and images to the phone but the contacts did not work. So I downloaded the 4.2.1 version. Now the options it has is "Synchronization" (for contacts/calendars), "Phonebook", "Calendar", "Text Message", "Internet Connection". The phonebook works now but no Multi Media sync!! I have enabled the file transfer with SEEM editing (x Offset 6A Bit 0)...that was how I was able to do the Multi Media sync with the old version. Can someone help? Thanks.

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3m

If anyone is interested, I have put this entire thread into a single PDF document. It is pages 1 - 25. When page 26 completes, then I'll append the PDF with page 26. I'll try and keep up with it.

This is not a final kind of presentation. I simply just turned the print job into a PDF, then combined all the PDF's into a single doc. It's a large file, too - 7 megs or so.

The benefit of this, for me, is searching. At least for me, I find it easier to use Acrobat Rader to search and find things versus the search tool here.

Maybe, if this is something folks would want, it would be best housed on the MotoV3m.com site, instead of hear, because of it's size. I'm not sure how that would work, but it's a thought.

Give me your feedback and we can go from there.
