    Re: RAZR V3m

Found a few sites that talk about the work around for the V3i, V3x and the V3, but nothing for the V3c/V3m, so far.

And the write ups about this sound great!!

    Re: RAZR V3m

If you go back to the page listing all the threads for Verizon Wireless users where this one is located, look up at the first thread, it will be this one and it will say "sticky" to the left of the title. When it gets "stickied", it stays right there on the top, any new threads that get started or replies to other threads always stay underneath this one. A mod is a site moderator.

Basically this thread won't get bumped down the page and we won't have to worry about fishing around for it as it gets older. :D

I had to go way back in this thread to find the seem edit to change the external LCD to match the internal one... Page 9, Post #247:

BTW, I've been lurking for about a week since I got my new V3m. This site is great, and thanks to all who have posted the how-to's that helped me learn how to seem edit.

Just to clarify -- this edit makes the inside background show up on the outside? Does the time still show up on the outside as well?

    Re: RAZR V3m

Yup, I still have the time and the words "verizon wireless" along with the red bar at the top with battery power, reception etc. The wall paper only shows when the phone is closed. Open it turns to the verizon pic as normal. I've read that you can change that with bitpim, there is a post earlier in the thread with those instructions. Sorry I cant go back to get specific page #'s and such, I'm @ work right now.

Remember, the screens are different sizes so the outside one will get a little squishy.

    Re: RAZR V3m

First of all, all this info is great!! I have sat here and read through alot of information in the past 2 hours! Thank you all.
I just bought my V3m from Verizon on FRiday, and did NOT buy the Data Kit that came with it. When I plug the phone into my computer (Windows XP sp2 MCE ) it recognizes it as a Motorola v3c, but cannot find the drivers. . .

What/Where are the drivers to make the phone talk to my USB? Thanks for help, sorry if it was already posted!

    THANKS

See Page 6, Post #171... there is a zip file with very well written instructions and the drivers you need.

This thread needs a TOC or an index or something ;)

    Re: RAZR V3m

I have a tiny tiny bit of lag on startup, that's it.
You gotta figure that I have turned a bunch of stuff on after seeming so that lag makes sense.

EDIT: I have no idea about the card

    Red,

there was nothing next to the bit for the external screen. I remember that from when I did it. Most other seems have something next to them about what they do, that one was blank.

    and socom 3 ROCKS!!

What he has there is all you need.

I use MPT to transfer tones and stuff. You will need to change what phone MPT sees it as if you want to use that for tone transfers though.

    Re: RAZR V3m

OK, when I get home I will walk through the setup. now has anyone figured out how to play true mp3 files, make ringtones from those, etc?

Do these files HAVE to be licensed/protected in order for them to work correclty on the verizon v3m? what programs do I need to do this, where can I get them?

Again sorry if this is already answered.

    THANKS

    Re: RAZR V3m

Yes you can use any mp3 file on your putr as a ringtone. Here is a link for a free program that will search your putr for mp3's, choose which ones you want for tones and decide how long you want 10-30 sec, and it converts them to tones in mp3 format. You will need to register it and get an activation code, pretty simple. I use this and it works great + it's all free

    Re: RAZR V3m

That's the one I was talking about. They are referring to the V3i, V3x and V3.

They reference SEEMs 0032, this is for the above mention phones. The V3c/V3m reference SEEMs 2742. I do not know if this makes a difference or not.

In one of the forums, someone asked if the V3m would work with the listed seem edits and the modorator said NO!! Did he test them on the V3m? I do not know and it was not mentioned anywhere that he did.

    Still looking, though.

Excellent idea, BUT please, please stay away from PDF. Can't stand !@%$ PDf files. Sorry 'bout that.

I kinda like the TOC idea. To bad we could not have a TOC inserted on page 01 and then have somebody keep it up to date.

I have noticed that we are getting more and more of the same information posted more than once, sometimes more than twice.

    GET 'ER DONE !

That would be cool if that worked. It could really open up some possibilities.

If you try, give us the results.

i dont get it when i run driver tool it does all that crap but when i plug in my phone using the usb it says the drivers are not installed and msu does not recognize my phone

    Re: RAZR V3m

We can assume that after you installed the driver, you rebooted your system? You have to reboot so that the systm can recognize the newly installed drivers.

AND some of the programs that use the drivers, will not 'release' the drivers after you exit their program, so a reboot is required.

    Re: RAZR V3m

I actually didn't have to reboot. Here are the steps that worked for me. lenzor, bear in mind that not everyone's putr is the same.
Plug phone into putr and phone turned on first

    1) run driver tools - YOU choose the driver to install, last option on pop up window - you get a second pop up window, choose last option again - install - finish. Repeat 3 more times(next driver install should pop up on it's own). You'll notice it is installing a diff driver ea time.

2)Run MSU - will ask for driver again, do exactly as you did with drivertools. you will only install one - motorola usb modem - MSU will then find your phone and update it - once that finishes, exit MSU

3)open p2kseem(this should already be installed by you) - look in the lower left corner of the p2kseem window for "connected" - then follow the steps outlined earlier in this post by willy (pg. 14) for the seem # and byte #'s as well as seeming instructions - now you should be into the "seems" to edit

    EDIT:put in these boxes>>> "Seem" = 2742, "Record" = 1, "Bytes (h)" 0
