    Re: RAZR V3m

I've been reading this forum before buying my v3m but I bought the music essentials kit anyway. It works fine for me. Sync's the music and converts it automatically. Real simple. The VZ store just got in a new batch of kits the day I bought it. Has a sticker on it that specifies its for the V3m. Looks like they may have finally updated it to make it work. Even has a segement explaining how to get pics and videos off the phone using a card reader (self explanatory really). The weird part is that the system menu they show on part of the instructions is different than mine.

Still want to do some edits so i can get pics and videos without a card reader. Plus wanna get rid of the verizon banners etc... so thanks for all the info everyone has provided to do that!

    Keep up the good work.

First off.....this thread has been incredibly useful....mad props to all who have gone before me to discover the hidden secrets of the V3M.

Now...I do the above steps and can get the phone info ok, but the filesystem option never displays. All I want to do is change that ugly Verizon logo on the outside of the flip. I tried P2Kcommander and that would not work, and I am trying this method using BitPim and still no luck. Settings for BitPim are below along with driver info. Can anyone find what is going wrong?

    Re: RAZR V3m

I guys, thanks for all your posts :D, I am new to this forum, but your posts have keep me entertained for a while...I did the seem edits and they work marbles, it even feels like a brand new phone.

I just have one questions, has anyone been able to scroll their missed calls with the outside screen? if so, what do I have to do it to get it working?

    Thanks

    Re: RAZR V3m

Well, I was able to use MSU and p2seem, saved my back up of the seem and stopped there. I can find the edit points - very easy. Kind of reminds me of my days in machine and assembly code (way back). Anyway. I think I will wait till my MPT gets here and do the process form scratch just as another confirmation that all this is working.

To rwsrichard and WlLLy2900, thanks for all your Lewis and Clarking.

Speaking for myself, everyone is more than welcome.

You might want to grab the newest version of 'Seems for V3m.xls', as it has been modified. See pg 15 post #447 and read post for the updates.

    Re: RAZR V3m

    FYI on bluetooth.

My system shows two Internet Connections
    1.) Internet Gateway
    2.) LAN or High-Speed Internet

    Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Network Connections

When I plug the dongle into the usb port, I get a message saying "Bluetooth Network. A Network cable is unplugged" and on the system tray and two monitors setting side-by-side, with a red X across them, pops up.

What is happening here, is that the dongle takes priority over the LAN Network and temporarily disconnects you from other computers that is on your Network. You still have access to the Internet. Whew!! :lmao:

When this first happened it kind of scared/bothered me. But after you un-plug the dongle, the 'two monitors with X across them', disappears and you are reconnected to the LAN again.

For those who have not installed BitPim yet and a little leary about it. I have have created a file that has step-by-step instructions with screen shots.

It is a Word document and real easy to follow.

    View attachment Installing BitPim.doc

Tomorrow I will post the procedures for 'Backing Up V3m Phone Using BitPim' with screen shots. This will include installing the necessary drivers, if needed.

    Enjoy folks!

    Oh, forgot to mention.

So far I have all the following programs installed and tested with no problems or conflicts with each other. Of course, they are not all running at the same time.

MPT with both Bluetooth and Cable setup, MSU, P2K and BitPim.

Any others we need to work on?

Did not know that was possible. I'll have to look into that. Seems like that would be real hard to read, if it was possible to do it.

    Anyone else done this?

    Re: RAZR V3m

I have been here only a few days and I gotta give it up to Willy and richard, you guys RAWK!!!!
I just got the phone and followed ya'lls instructions for seeming it, I had no idea you could hack a phone like that f*&% verizon!!!!

One problem maybe you guys could help with. I have done the seem edit willy posted. MPT recognizes the phone and I can transfer music via WMP10, however, I cannot set any of my 20 sec. mp3's as ringtone, the option is not there when i am in My Music. Also, in MPT, there is no multimedia option, I have phonebook, calender, sync and something else(can't remember what) but no multimedia.
Do I need to reinstall MPT??? How do I get my cropped songs into a ringtone??
    Thanks for any help,

    Re: RAZR V3m

u have to manually set up the phone with mpt, create new profile, when it ask what connection type ( i use the usb cable) enter what connection type you have, then plug in the phone to the pc, and quickly unplug it and it would ask you if u want install it automatically or something click no then it would ask you again if you want to search for it manually, click yes then all you need to do is set it up as v3cm. and u got it

well at least thats the way i did mines lol

    yea thanks =)

well do u have the mutlimedia studio on your right side menu list? if not then mpt must have recognize your phone as v3m which is ok but if you want full function of mpt, its best to set it up as v3cm

    Re: RAZR V3m

I'm sort of noticing a trend here and from what I have been reading here and on other forums they are having the same problems, too. And the solution seems to be 'rebooting' your system when going from one process/program to another.

It looks like some of the programs are not 'releasing' the phone and is still keeping the phone 'attached' via memory or processes and locking out some of the options from other programs.

Besides, when you are doing something like 'hacking' your phone, you would want all your resources to be 'refreshed' so that you eliminate anything that could/might interfere with the process.

And this is also assuming that the programs have been installed and are working correctly. :)

    REDDAWN:
You can pretty easily change the configuration to V3cm, which will give you Multimedia Studio, without having to go through the setup process again. If you click the center button of the phone representation, you will get a menu.

In the menu, Go to "Setup"....."General Setup".

    1) Choose the "Communication" tab, and the "Device Configuration Wizard" will launch. It will ask you to select device.
    2) Choose "Motorola USB Modem" (or something like that). Click next.
    3) You will be on the Detect driver screen. Check the "Do not automatically detect the driver. Select from list" box. Click Next.
    4) On the next screen, Choose Motorola CDMA on the left. Then on the right, choose v3cm for Device model. Click next, and click Finish.
5)You should now see multimedia studio as an option.

I do not, so then I need to do a manual config and tell MPT that it is a v3cm.

    Re: RAZR V3m

So here's a question. With bluetooth, is is possible to "browse" the file sturcture so as to upload/download files without using MPT?

    Re: RAZR V3m

I just hooked up my phone and dongle. There no way to look at the phone from the PC side by using My Computer or anything else.

So some kind of software that works with bluetooth and the phone must be used in order to browse the file structure and ul/dl files.

According to BitPim's help files, it will more than likely NOT connect via bluetooth.

I do not know about MUS and P2K

    Hope that helps.

Thanks dude. I just did your steps and poof! there it was, very simple. I now have the multimedia icon on the right side. Now, just gotta learn how to do the tones ... lol

EDIT: Alright man!!! I got everything firing good, all functions seem (no pun intended) to be working as the phone was designed to allow. I can make any of my mp3's into tones!!! Thanks for the help guys.

    Re: RAZR V3m

    Feedback needed.

Yesterday I finshed the Install BitPim instructions with screen shots, which is about 7 pages long.

I just finished the 'Backing Up V3m Phone Using BitPim' instructions with screen shots, which is about 13/14 pages long. These instructions include a process for connecting BitPim to the V3m and installing drivers, if needed and then backing up your phones info.

Then I got to thinking that maybe both sets of instructions should be combined, because, you would probably want to install, connect BitPim to V3m, install drivers and backup your phone info in one process instead of two or three.

Also you only need to do those steps 'once'.

How would everyone prefer to have it, or not at all?

    Re: RAZR V3m

I just went and searched throught this thread again before asking this question and getting clarification.

After making the seem edits (specifically the USB and Bluetooth one) will I be able to upload mp3's and play them as music files? If so, where should the files be uploaded? (ie - what folder - My_Music?). I don't have a desire to use WMP to sync music, I'd rather just upload them when I want to, via MPT.

Second, regarding ringtones, (again, after the seem edits) should the phone be able to use ringtones in mp3 (.mp3) and/or midi (.mid) format? And it looks like they should be no longer then 20 or 30 seconds. Does that sound right?

Thanks for the confirmation and help.
