    Re: RAZR V3m

I can confirm that you don't need to add the letter to the end of the name -- all you need to seem is the offset that controls file transfer. However, in Motorola Phone Tools, you need to manually set the phone to V3cm, instead of V3m, or Multimedia Studio won't be available. However, once that is done, it will load with Multimedia Studio every time, so it seems kind of pointless to add the m to the end of the name with a seem edit. I would just suggest turning on the file transfer bit and leaving it alone.

MPT can be kind of confusing to configure manually -- I will post info on this with my FAQ.

I know have a full length movie loaded onto my phone and playing!!
For really large files (the full length movie is 120 MB) you need to load onto the Transflash card directly. However, just put the file into the root directory of the transflash and it will be available to play.

Use this program to convert movies to the right format:
    http://www.topdrawerdownloads.com/download/104143

    It goes pretty fast!

Here is a link in Howard Forums for the V3m. I'm not sure if this was posted before, but it's about seeming the V3m.

    http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=947130&highlight=V3m

It looks like it's the same as what we've been talking about. Can you folks look at it and confirm this? I won't be seeming till my MPT arrives sometime next week.

    Re: RAZR V3m

Ok, I went an installed to 'seem' stuff. BUT since I already have installed MPT, I did not install the DriverTool.zip nor the E815-V710-DriverPack1.

I used ONLY the MSU and the P2KSeem4V710.

It worked like a charm. I changed the ringtones and saved then to the phone!

I also went bit-by-bit and took screen shots of EVERY available 'seem' that had a description, that could be made for the V3m.

I then took this and compiled a list into an Excel spreedsheet. There are 130 'seems' with descriptions.

Anyone want a copy or the screen shots, let me know. The Excel spreedshet is around 30k and the Word screen shots is around 2m. I think that I will work on the Word one and see if I can reduce the size.

I have not now tested the MPT program. But I will here in a little and let you know if everything is still working ok.

    Re: RAZR V3m

I am tryin to catch up with you guys.
Has anyone had this problem, know a fix
I turn my phone off and plug it into the USB port
It recognizes the phone as a USB motorola modem (I'm thinkin I'm on the right step)
    I have ran the patch
I turn on the phone and go over to sync
I then get a message that says "Connect Failure" Please check your cable connection to the PC. Shortly thereafter the phone switches in the device manager from the modem and then shows up under the Other devices with a yellow exclamation on a Motorola V3c.

Should it switch to the V3c during syncing?
Does it need the drivers for the V3c?
I thought it was suppose to stay a modem

    Re: RAZR V3m

After installing the 'seem' programs and using it on my phone, I tried out the MPT software.

Everything is still working fine with MPT, too. I still have FULL functionality of the MPT.

    Re: RAZR V3m

Pharmboy: As far as I can tell, the patch does....well.....nothing. I still don't know what's up with the patch. I put that step in my original instructions when I thought it did something, but I'm still puzzled as to the point of the patch.

I have noticed that after running MPT, sometimes I have to restart the phone in order to connect to the computer for mp3 syncing.

I should note that the ONLY time that you want to go into the sync menu in the phone is when you are syncing songs with Windows Media Player. None of the other things we are discussing here, from MPT usage to seem editing, should be done with the phone in this mode.

However, if you are interested in getting the phone to work with WMP10 for mp3 syncing, I would do the following.

    1) Power off the phone
    2) Plug the phone in to the computer
    3) Wait for windows to recognize the phone as a modem
    4) Turn the phone on
    5) Go to the Sync option in the phone and start the sync

Make sure the driver you are using is either the one downloaded by MPT 4, or one from these forums. I have heard that the Driver Tools driver can cause problems with WMP10, so maybe stay away from that one.

    **Addditional Note***
I noticed you said that the device switches in Windows. This is Windows recognizing the device as a Media device, as opposed to a modem. That is why you need to activate sync on the phone. Windows should be able to auto-recognize the device as a Media device. I checked, and the correct driver for the device is in C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\wpdusb.sys

It shouldn't show up as a ? mark -- however I can send you this driver and you can manually install it for the Media player as a last resort. Just note that sometimes it takes a little while for Windows to recognize the device and install the driver. If it prompts you, have it auto-search for the driver.... let me know how it goes

    Re: RAZR V3m

Here is something I think we need to figure out how to do:

How can we sync playlists between WMP10 and the phone?

It would be nice to be able to create playlists on the computer and sync them with the phone. Usually, the problem with mp3 players is lack of functionality on the device to create playlists. With this phone, it is lack of functionality from the computer to create playlists.

im having problem. when i plug the phone to the pc it says unauthorize charger. it didnt say that before, i think it started when i try to use mpt 4 and try to set it up manually to v3cm, after that my phone wont charge thru pc. OH one more thing, i cant connect thru mpt with v3cm as one of my settings, but i could connect thru mpt with v3m setting but now it wont let me anymore, and i did the seem editing for file transfer too.

Ok folks, I noticed awhile ago that a person can upload attachments, as long as they meet certain critera.

So attached is the Excel spreadsheet with ALL the 'descriptive seems' that I could find, for the V3M Razr.

If someone gets the spreadsheet and finds more 'seems', add it to the list and then attach it for the rest of us.

    * This attachment is no longer available *

    Re: RAZR V3m

Well, shoot, if I am going to attach the Excel spreadsheet, I guess I can share the snapshots I made of ALL the descriptive 'seems' I could find.

So here it is in a Word document - 2.11mg file.

View attachment Seem Snapshots for Motorola Razr V3m.doc

Once you get the file just use the 'zoom' feature. I changed mine from 100% to 125% and it was much easier to read.

sweet! thanks for the seem list - that is awesome!

Of particular interest to me: the KJava option, which could allow uploading of games to the phone perhaps?

Another cool one would be URL line in browser -- i get annoyed to no end that this doesnt exist in Verizon browser

Keep in mind those options don't come from the phone, they come from the "Functions.csv" file that's included with p2kseem. You can open the file with Excel to see all of them. No telling how many of them will do what's indicated on the V3M.

Sorry, that should be Java and not kjava. I actually typed in each line in the Excel spreadsheet instead of cut/paste (see how dumb you can get when you get excited about something, get in hurry and do not stop the think  )

Well, I found one that does not work or it could be the user, again. :)

    Description offset bit 0/1 status
My phone number at display 0048 1 1 on

    I changed mine to bit=1, 0/1=0, status=off

Turned off the phone, waited one minute and turned phone back on. The "My phone number nnn-nnnn" still displayed on the screen.

    I cannot find 'seems' 0207 and 0209

    Any ideas?

    Re: RAZR V3m

If you want to change or get rid of the Internal Verizon Wireless Banner, Mark's forum has a real nice writeup and examples on how to do it.

    http://mark.cdmaforums.com/InternalBanner.htm

Follow the instructions very carefully IF you want to change the banner.

For us lazy and not-to-sure-of-ourselves, :) down at the bottom of the above link is, a link to a file called: 296a_0005-20byte-BLANK.seem .. It has already 'blanked out' the Verizon Wireless banner for you.

Just unzip it; set your phone up using MSU and PskSeem routine; then load the 20byte-BLANK seem file (click the 'load from file' button; click on the file) and then save to your phone. It's done.

Remember to turn off your phone for 20-60 seconds for it to take effect.

    More to come, hopefully.

    Re: RAZR V3m

could anyone get p2kman or p2kcommander to connect? i want to change the verizon logo from the external lcd when the flip is open.

I got the MPT to work, when transfering photos with the Multimedia Studio / Image Studio, it decrease the quality of the pictures. Like my pix is about say, 100 kbs, and it decrease it to like 6 kbs, its a really bad quality, but when i use the FILE TRANSFER STUDIO, it gave me the original quality that i wanted. Also using the FILE TRANSFER STUDIO when i upload an MP3 to my transflash card, it didnt show up on my phone. Is there a way to solve this problem?

I hope that I do not get in trouble for this, BUT ....

If you are looking for some FREE, that's right FREE rigntones, again, Mark's forum has some that you can download for free - pick one, right-click save as, then use MPT and whatever you have to ul to your phone.

    http://mark.cdmaforums.com/index.htm

on the right side of the page, click on 'ring tones'. You will be taken to a page that will keep you busy downloading for an hour or two, maybe three. :)

I have updated the Excel spreadsheet with some new modifications for those who are interested.

    View attachment 1265

Thanks to WiLLy2900, I took the 'seems' that he tested - I hope he does not mind - and made a new column in spreadsheet called 'tested' and marked them so.

I also marked those that others have emailed me about as tested and marked those.

I also added a few more from Mark's forum. Be aware that a couple of the offset's conflict with each other and I marked them as so. Also Mark said that NONE of them have been verified, again marked as so.

    GET 'ER DONE!

thats awesome i just got done changing mines too, i wonder if u can make the logo animate, since its using .GIF.

i notice that the v3m external lcd screen is bigger as in the height or length, compare wit the v3c. it seems like u can probably fit a bigger picture on the external lcd like 96 x 80+ instead of just 96 x 80.

    Re: RAZR V3m

    Attention please!

Read this whole post before doing anything else, please.

Pretty please with sugar on it?

I would pay you to read it, but payday is not until the 1st of the month, again. :browani:

I have have had a couple of private emails asking me how to restore the phone after it gets screwed up by making changes using the MSU and P2K programs.

The way I see it, you have/had 4 options:
1.) if you took meticulous notes on what you changed and you can get back into the phone, just undo the changes.

    If not:
2.) restore from the backed up file you made from P2K - I hope you backed it up first. See below for instructions on how to do this.

If you did not backup first, then:
3.) use the following file from Mark's forum and follow the 'To restore' steps below. If it works, thank Mark.

    http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Files/V3M-2742_0001-CD-Byte-ORG.seem

If you did NONE of the above, then:
4.) take your phone back to Verizon and ask to have it reflashed and the sw reinstalled.

I checked on this BEFORE I started making the 'seem' changes on my phone. When I talked to the local Verizon guy, I asked what it would cost to have my phone reflashed and the most current sw put on it. He said $25 with no questions asked (hmmm, 'no questions asked?' did he know or guess what I was up to?? ).

Bear in mind the following - which I did verify as correct. So is it worth backing up? I leave that up to you, I did back mine up even if it was for piece of mind and a 'restore' starting point.

BEFORE you start making changes to your phone using the 'seeming' process, use the 'save to file' button in P2k BEFORE you do anything. Here is how:

    To backup:
1.) once you have the MSU and P2k running,
    2.) enter bytes= 0000, seem= 2742, record= 0001,
3.) press the 'load from phone' button,
4.) after it loads, press the 'save to file' button,
5.) give the file a name or use the one given.
That's it. you are backed up. now go make changes, carefully, that is

    To restore:
    1.) same as #1 above
    2.) same as #2 above
    3.) same as #3 above
4.) press the 'load from file' button,
    5.) choose your saved file, then click on 'load to phone' button;
    That's it, you are restored.

    Finished. thanks for reading.
