    Re: RAZR V3m

rwsrichard: I am making progress -- I have figured out how to confiigure MPT settings using the v3cm profile, and now Multimedia Studio shows up as an option. However, when I try to "Transfer to Phone" in Multimedia Studio, nothing happens. It says it can't communicate with the phone. Do you have any suggestions on how to send info from Multimedia Studio to the phone succesfully? Have you gotten this part to work correctly yet?

Sorry, I have not got that far yet. I am working on getting the Phonebook and Calendar between the phone and Outlook setup.

Will give it a shot and let you know the results.

It looks like WiLLy2900 got his to work ok, which is GREAT!!! With the 'seeming', it seems that he can do more to his phone.

Guys are killing me with all this software to work on the phone. All the people that responded to this thread should be commended. Plus get together to make a list of software for new V3m owners to use. You guys are great! I really mean that. I've own cell phones for seven years. I didn't know there were different software to use. Now I know!;)

    Re: RAZR V3m

This is a streamlined how to specifically for V3M owners thanks to the links proved by Mark Venture’s Pages. All credit goes to Mark Venture for this stuff.

1: Get a USB to USB mini connector cable. If you’ve got a digital camera you may already have one hanging around. The large USB end goes to the PC and needs to be DIRECTLY connected to a PC USB port, not to a USB hub.

2: Download/expand and save these three software packages on your hard drive - Do NOT install them yet.

Motorola Software update called “MSU” – http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MSU.htm

    P2K SEEM editing applet - http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Files/P2KSeem4V710.zip

    Drivertool - http://www.bvrp.com/Customers/Motorola/DriverTool.zip

Step 1: Use drivertool to set up the Motorola USB modem driver

    Install steps detailed here

Step 2: Run the MSU package – This has multiple driver installs and may require reinstalling these drivers every time you run the package. Install procedure detailed here - http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_SeemEdit.htm

Step 3: Plug in your phone and the MSU package should detect it. Your phone ESN number will pop up on the left screen - The other two defaults for model # and carrier will be listed as "NA"

Step 4: Run the PKSEEM applet -Once it says connected in the bottom left hand corner Put “2742” for "SEEM", and above that to the right put “0000” for "bytes", then click “load from phone" button – the SEEM code will pop up for editing.

Step 5: Save a backup of your UNEDITED SEEM file now – Detailed here - http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_SeemEdit.htm

The two most popular changes are

1; Making the phones pics, music & data and SD micro trans flash card accessible with the Motorola Phone Tools interface package

    To do this go to
Offset 006a Bit 0 – Bluetooth or USB file transfer in MPT etc. – Check to enable

2; Making the vibrate then ring mode active

    To do this go to

Offset 7B Bit 3 - Vibrate THEN Ring part1 - Uncheck to enable
Offset 7B Bit 4 - Vibrate THEN Ring part2 - Check to enable
With Bit 3 & 4 set this way, you will have Vibrate THEN Ring available as a ring style
Offset 7B Bit 2 - Moto UI Style Ring Control Part 1 - Uncheck to enable
Offset 7B Bit 7 - Moto UI Style Ring Control Part 2 - Check to enable

Srep 6: Make your code changes as desired -then click "save to phone" Do not remove the phone while it is being flashed (it only takes a few seconds) – Remove and power cycle the phone to confirm the changes have taken.

You can possibly nuke your phone if you do this wrong, so proceed at your own risk. No warranties expressed or implied - Free advice is worth what it cost you - etc. etc.

*******Now for everyone i did not back up my seems at all, that was taking a risk but i sort had a clue with what i was doing*******

I will have to give this a try later on.

Right now I have MPT working GREAT via cable OR Bluetooth, without having to 'seem'. So I am concentrating on working with that.

    Re: RAZR V3m

rwsrichard: clearly the way to go here is to avoid seem editing if at all possible -- can you do me a favor and post the following:

    1) The version of the Motorola USB driver you are running
    2) Your version of Windows (2000, XP, XPSP2, etc)
    3) I already saw you posted your phone firmware, so that is not necessary
    4) Your version of Motorola Phone Tools

For whatever reason, I cannot get the phone to do anything using the Multimedia Tools. I can get into the software, but all attempts to transfer info to or from the phone fail.

    Re: RAZR V3m

im pretty sure you need to do at least one small seem edit to enable MPT 4 to work with the v3m because verizon has it locked. so it might be unavoidable. im having problems with MPT right now, but my version is older and i need to get version 4 (which im assuming includes the presets for the v3m?)

correction, you can use MPT with the v3m without the seem edit, but i dont think you can work with media and stuff like that.

    Re: RAZR V3m

MD that is correct the only way i could get the Multimedia Icon to show up on MPT 4.0 was to do the seem edit casue VZW did have it disabled...one u do that seem edit the icon WILL show up and u can put MP3's on the phone and use them as ringers...but you will need to crop them down a bit using the Multimedia tab

    Re: RAZR V3m

How and where do you get the information for #1 and #4? Normally when you click on HELP, you can choose ABOUT and it will give you the version of the product you are using. But I cannot find this with the MPT software. On the CD it says ver 4.0, but it gets upgraded while installing.

#2 is Windows XP Professional Ver 2002 w/SP2 and ALL updates from MSN.
    #3 is NEWC_01.05.0A

    Re: RAZR V3m

After lots of time spent trying to do this without the seem edit, I took the leap and edited the seem Willy2900 mentioned above that allows for file transfer, etc.

Once that was done, I deleted the drivertools driver, restarted my computer, then allowed MPT to find my phone profile I had setup using the V3cm settings.

And, WALA! I now have full functionality with Motorola Phone Tools, including Multimedia Studio functionality.

I will post a full FAQ soon for those still struggling with this, everything from Media Player setup to tranferring photos, etc.

Thanks for all the help with this guys.

    Hi,

I was able to install the phone as modem and than downloaded and run the software you mentioned from Motorolan website. Now I turned on the phone but nothing happened. It was not recognized as the media player device. Can you please let me know what other steps I need to do?

    Thanks

Okay I tried to seem edit and I don't think it worked. I don't get Vib + Ring as an option anywhere and now my ringers start out really loud then go back to normal level. And also when I open up the seem editor I can't load up 2742 byte 0000. What the fook went wrong?

    Re: RAZR V3m

I would not mind trying to 'seem' these:

1.) Ringtones - the ones you mentioned.
    2.) Vibrate THEN Ring 1 & 2
3.) Moto UI Style Ring Control Part 1 & 2
4.) Transflash Copy/Move Option - maybe this one IF I cannot get it to work in MPT

BUT, since I have MPT working without the 'seem' process, I am kind of leary going in and adding/changing more drivers to the cooking-pot.

    Temptation, temptation, temptation.

correct me if im wrong, but you only have to edit seem 2827 offset 0006 with the 0-2-3-6 to add the "m" to the end of v3m (to make v3mM) in order to access media features on MPT? i just want to be sure i did it right the first time so that when i get MPT working i can get down to business

    Re: RAZR V3m

do you know if the v3m works with any of the older version of MPT? or what you have to do to get older versions to work? i have an older version that my brother gave me when i first got my phone but i can just as easily go and get the new version 4.0 if i have to. i just cant get my phone to be recognized by MPT or get past the "initializing" screen... which totally makes sense bc the version is older than the v3m itself haha. any tips though on how to add the v3m to an older version??
