VZW (Verizon), has 'crippled' or turned-off certain options on their phones, so that the only way you can get ringtones, music, etc... is to pay for them through their features.

You can turn these options back on by SEEM'ing the phone. To do this you will need some program's, files and instructions.

This is the driver that is needed.
    http://www.bvrp.com/Customers/Motorola/DriverTool.zip

The first program is Motorola Software Update or MSU.
    https://rsd.motorola.com/download/Motorola_Software_Update.exe

The second program is P2K Seem editor.
    http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Files/P2KSeem4V710.zip

here are the instructions for SEEM'ing the V3m phone. The SEEM that you want is row #129.
"Bluetooth OR USB file transfering MPT and E815 BT QBEX"

    Offset: 006a
    Bit: 0
    Setting: 1
    note: 1 means checked/turned on; 0 means unchecked/turned off

    http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/a...e-into-ringtone-razr-seeming-instructions.txt

Here is a SNAPSHOT list of SEEM's.
    http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/a...-v3m-seem-snapshots-for-motorola-razr-v3m.doc

Install the driver, then MSU then P2k. The follow the SEEM'ing instructions.

If you have any questions or problems, holler back. If you even have a DOUBT about something, please ask. IF you do anything wrong, you could BRICK your phone plus it also void's any warranty on the phone and you do not want that to happen.

Yes, I'm afraid so and yes alot of us felt the same way. That is another eason that the RAZR thread was started.

To transfer files, ie. ringtones, music, etc..., yes you have to SEEM it. Otherwise you can still work with the calendar, phonebook and I think txt messaging.

That is the update driver to match the MPT software ver 4.21

Every program requires a driver to work with. MSU need the one with the MSU post.

MPT software version 4.04 needs the 4.04 driver's and MPT version ver 4.21 needs the 4.21 driver to work correctly.

You have to make sure that MSU is running in the background and that MSU connected CORRECTLY to your phone.

    Start P2k and set the "Bytes (h) = 0000"
    set the "Seem = 2742"
    set the "Record = 0001"

then click on 'load from phone' butoon.

Then use the up, down, left, right arrow keys to move around until in the middle left of the screen OFFSET displays 006a.

Then click on BIT 0 so that there is a check-mark in it.

Then click on the 'save to phone button'

    Then exit p2K.

    Then close and exit MSU.

Then unplug the cable from the PC, then unplug the phone from the cable.

Turn off the phone for about 10 sec and then turnit back on.

    You are finished.

Yes, this is correct. Richard, have u ever tried to just use the "restart phone" button on p2kseem? I used to unplug it each time after exiting MSU and p2k seem. But I found it works just as well by hitting refresh phone. That way there, u can leave all the programs runniong, and leave the phone connected. It is much quicker and does the same thing ;)

006a bit 0 changes the file transfer.

Cincyball is helping someone at this post with the LCD display. You might want to check on it there.

No, I have not. Will this allow you to check the changes you just made while still plugged in or do you still have to exit?

Yea, u will still be able to check to make sure it worked. For example, I did that process after changing the Verizon Wireless banner. I edited it, hit refresh phone, it did its little thing, it powered back on, i flipped o pen the phone, and sure enough, it was changed succesfully. Now Im in the process odf modding my fiancee's E815, and i use that process all the time. It makes it a little quicker. But in the end, its personal preference

Will have to give that a shot, especially when multiple changes are being made.

    Thanks.

No prob. A second hint, if u are changing multiple seems. Say u chnage something in 2742, then u wanna change something in say, 296a, u can make all the changes u need in one seem. Save to phone. Load up the next seem. Make those changes and save to phone. Then restart phone. And its all the same. The phone doesnt care if u do 1 and restart, or do 10 and restart ;)

^^ yea i was about to point that out lol actually i did what u always do cincy the very first time and found out that worked.

i dont think there is any possibility of harming your phone as long as you know how to follow instructions and only change what you need to.

Okay. :) I've read this entire thread, looking for a solution to my issue. I'm not seeing it.

    I have MPT v. 3.11h.

I have a Cingular Branded Razr V3 (no letter suffix).

When I attempt to load my ringtones to the phone, it goes for the modem in my computer, INSTEAD of the USB port. *scratching head*

Can anyone tell me HOW to GET to the configure part of the program that will let me tell it to used the correct transfer port?? I can't find anything anywhere in the program that will let me switch this.

Thanks in advance for the assist!

If I were Motorola, I'd be ashamed to have my name associated with MPT. It's the worst software package I've seen.

Sorry, I was just frustrated trying to get it installed and working. It probably is great, if you can get it to work.
