I just built a new pc, biostar mobo, and athlon 64 4000+ processor, and installed windows vista. Well phonetools 4.0 installed, and it downloaded updates but phonetools says it can't find my modem(phone). I've never had this problem before, is it because vista won't work with phonetools? I have vista home premium and its not worth the plastic its burnt to.
SMURFBOY.. Welcome to WA.. i deleted your duplicate post as well as your post with your e-mail address, please do not post your address in the furture if you don't want it to become a spam house. I've heard of Vista not getting along with some softwares.... did you reboot your PC after installing MPT??
Of course I re-booted, most installs require a reboot, windows vista must not be compatable with motorola phonetools 4.0 being mpt can't find the modem, even after plugging the phone into 6 usb ports
Yes of course you did, but you'd be surprised how many questions have been posted just like yours and a simple re-boot is what was overlooked. http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/motorola/61464-help.html
So, does anyone know how to fix phonetools so that it will find the phone? Would it be a waste of time to call motorola, or can someone here tell me what to do? As I said i'm using vista home premium 32 bit...
ok i need to know if when useing my cell fone through moto tools internet conection if it uses my mins or my internet useage on my for ex... if i have unlimited interent on my fone
Ok, I re-installed windows vista on a freshly formatted hard drive, re-installed my programs and installed phone tools 4.0. When it updated, it changed my 4.0 to 4.21 and it works now. My phone is recognised. So this may work for those of you deciding to buy vista home premium if you are using mpt 4.0, I have the motorola v323 cellphone. Everything works now.
your software should allow multiple phones to be used. It should upgrade to the latest version when you do an automatic update.
Re: HELP! i just recently purchased a MOTOROLA SLVR L7C, that's right L7C, not L7. I also purchased the motorola tools 4.0 version and it can't detect my phone. it only has the L7 under GSM but my phone is CDMA. this is really upsetting me because i can't download music to my phone which is also an MP3 player, which is the main reason why i bought it. i tried to detect it online.. but nothing seems to be working... someone please help. its really frustrating. :browani:
Re: HELP! I have an older version of MPT and one of my favorite features of it was being able to edit MP3s into ringtones. I don't have a Motorola phone anymore and was curious if there was another way to use the Multimedia Studio of MPT without having a Motorola phone connected?
I have a question... I have been trying to figure out this program by myself and it aint working I got the latest updates. When I hit save to computer nothing happends, the window just flashes. I also tryed to transfer it right to the phone but when i click that nothing happends either.
I have a moto slvr L7c, and mpt. My problem is when I connect the phone it's recognized and everything but the ability to transfer files to and from my phone/computer is not available. I have seen seem edits for the razr (because verizon locks out the function) and I assume I would have to do something similar. As far as seem editing goes I am a complete noob, but if someone could point me in the right direction or show me a link to a tutorial I would be very grateful.
I have a question about MPT. I've seen MPT on ebay, but some of the sellers do not include cables. Do I need a special cable for the V3xx or the v3r or can I use a regular USB cable? And about the cable - do I need a cable at all or can I use bluetooth to connect to the computer? I've seen that some people say that they have problems with the bluetooth connection, but I didn't see anything specific for these phones. I've used bitpim for most of this in the past, but I didn't see these phones supported. Thanks
AFAIK, you can use any USB cable that has the correct connector for the phone end. They do vary. And, I have a question of my own. I bought and downloaded a chess game for my V3 a month ago, and I would now like to port it to my new V3xx (yeah, yeah, copyright, blah, blah. I'm not stealing it, I'm moving what I already bought.) Cingular tech support suggested I bluetooth it between phones, but they couldn't find each other. Is there any way MPT will help with this?
Thanks for the answer. The cable is a USB mini I found out. Its the same cable my camera uses; so no problem there. They also sell them at Chinamart as PSP cables. The answer to your question is no - MPT doesn't do games on my V3xx. It's possible that an unlocked V3xx would be different, but I've read other answers on other forums that say the same thing - it won't work because it doesn't let you access the folders the games are in. I've read that there is software that will upload games. I tried LeaderGL Flex Editor, which is supposed to allow games to be uploaded, but it doesn't recognize the phone. Also PK2 Tools does games, but doesn't recognize the phone. I'll keep looking. The D-Link USB device - DBT-120 - is supposed to be the most reliable, but I'm not sure why bluetooth would work for games any more than a USB connection would. Does a bluetoooth connection give you direct access to the phone folder that has the games? I doubt it, but I could be wrong. It seems like you still need a software solution once you make the connection. Maybe others will weigh in.
Just an update. I bought a 1 GB memory card online for $13 I connceted with MPT, created a folder on the card called "games' uploaded a .jar file, exited MPT, unhooked the phone, went to games, installed the game, and ran it. I think you have to reinstall it each time before you play it since it doesn't appear in the list. It takes about 1 second to install. OK - you don't have to install. I just had a bad game. They appear in the list.
I have a V557 with 'Cingular'. I purchased MPT 4.0 off of ebay on 3-19-07. I then immediately upgraded to MPT 4.36 with updates. Serveral times over the past week I've successfully started my computer and connected to the V557 via bluetooth. MPT seems to be working okay with my pictures, But I'm having the same problem as ta206 who wrote : "I have no problems loading wallpapers but when I crop and send mp3 to my phone as Cincy walked us through - it reads as a corrupt file on my phone and does not play when chosen. " I didn't see a reply to his post ? Thanks !
I use this free program for converting video. It works from youtube, and if you select all files, it works for files on your hard drive. It stopped the errors I was getting. Just choose mobile phone instead of "ipod" when you convert. http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/guides/dvd/upload-video-to-YouTube.htm
Have a v3m and mpt with a motorola bluetooth USB adapter. mpt will find my phone but not stay connected. it will say "com port not installed". Using the bluetooth icon i can send to the phone from my pc but I can't send from the phone to the pc. It will start then loose conection. Any tips would be great.
I just recently bought the motorola SLVR L7C and am running Windows Vista Ultimate on my Dell Inspiron E1705. I have been trying for days now to get my phone to work with Motorola Phone Tools' software and have never gotten it to detect my phone in order to put ringtones on it. All I want is to be able to transfer files to and from my phone. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to get MPT 4 to work for me? I have been reading the thread but I have not found the info I need yet. Is there another way I can transfer files using the USB data cable without using Motorola Phone Tools? If anyone has suggestions, instructions on how to use an alternative software, without buying more equipment let me know. Also, does bluetooth wireless dongles require MPT?
I guess u could try Bearshare which is a file-sharing program. I recommend Bearshare Pro though. I hope u have better luck installing it for your phone.
I fixed my problem by obtaining version 4.36c and updating to 4.5--which was recommended to me. My software works now.
I've installed the phone tools and synchronized my contacts. Is there any way to export the synchronized contacts in a standard format that I can upload to a new phone in the future? Even if that phone isn't a Motorola? Can I get my contacts into a spreadsheet or csv format?
While using my MPT 4.0, it would open, but when I would go to open and use it, it didn't all the way. I would go to MMS and try to crop music to make some tones, but the phone part stopped opening up. I reinstalled MPT first. Didn't work. Secondly, I uninstalled MPT. Then, reinstalled MPT. Still does not work!! I get a message that MPT is "unavailable" and do I want to wait for it to be "available"?? I've waited hours now and its still not working. What did I do wrong?? When first installed, it worked for maybe a couple weeks before the problem started.
Once u have backed up your phonebook with MPT, it gets saved to the: C:\Documents and Settings\'your user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\BVRP Software\Motorola Phone Tools\Backup\'name u saved it as' If you dont see any of those particular folders, it means you have "hidden folders" set to invisible. Go into Tools>Folder Options>View Tab>View Hidden Files & Folders (radio button). Then u will see the greyed out folders that WERE hidden.
