Lately, there have been quite a few threads regarding Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) and I thought it might be helpful if they were all in one place, so I decided to create an MPT thread. It is my hope that this will be a one-stop knowledge base for information on MPT. I don't know if the mods want to combine all the MPT threads into this one or if all MPT questions should be posted in this thread going forward. Either way, it is my hope that this thread will help reduce clutter in the Motorola forum.
Re: Motorola Phone Tools Questions I agree. An MPT thread is long overdue. I don't know why someone hasn't thought of it before now. -Jay
Re: Motorola Phone Tools Questions Motohooligan, thanks for the idea of posting a MPT thread, i will make this a sticky per your request: Here's a tutorial i usually link new users of MPT to: MPT TUTORIAL
Motorola Phone Tools with V3M ok! I really need help! i just got my V3m a week ago and i have mpt downloaded, it recognizes the phone and i'm to the point where i'm editing songs for ringtons. When i finish editing the song into a ringtone i click save to my pc and it says "failed to create file". Also, i tried just sending it to my phone and it says "unsupported format". I've downloaded the recent update to windows media player and i made sure it was an mp3..help me please!!
I tried to create a ringtone from a mp3 and could not save it to my phone. How do you save it in using MPT? I could save to my PC as a .wav or .mp3 but neither will go to the phone.
I've done it exactly like CincyBell says to HERE twice and when I click save to phone, nothing happens.
OK the Save to Phone function does not work for me. I have found that when you create the ringtone you want you can do a Save to Computer, just change the file type to the .adp then in the file name box add .mp3 to the end of your file name(i.e. ringtone.mp3). Then it will save to the pc where ever you want it. The transfer in the Transfer Studio function. You can save to pc the same way using the .wav in the file type box also and naming it .mp3 but it is a larger file. Doing it as the .adp it is a small file.
I just installed MPT yesterday on my computer and everything went fine. And then my brother was trying to put his phone on my computer, and then this morning I found I had to reinstall it for some reason. And now everytime I go into MPT, my sound card screws up. I was trying to make the music files I have into ringtones (it was working yesterday) and then it wouldn't play so I could crop it. And then I open up Musicmatch and it says something is wrong with my soundcard. So I reinstall my drivers for it. It works again, I open MPT again, and then my soundcard screws up again. Anyone know how to make it stop doing this?
Help me out here........ I got MPT, connected my phone (Verizon Razr v3m) and it can't recognize it. So, I tried to update it, but it tells me a file is missing! Thanks! CLH2991
This seems like a logical place to ask this so here goes. I've been trying to get my new Razr V3m to sync with my computer. My goal is to create my own ring tones. I've read through a couple of threads on this subject and it seemed like the answer is MPT. So okay, I downloaded it and it won't install. It stops during the install and wants a file named MotoMdm.inf which I don't have. I also read through the install instructions and see that it instructs not to connect the device until after installation of the software. Too late for that. I already had it connected and to the point of charging from the computer before I ever downloaded MPT. I removed the driver for the Razr but it still is asking for the file above. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks Phil
Not sure if this is the best place to ask for help on my problem. But will give it a shot... Downloaded Motorola Phone Tools 4.01 yesterday from Motorola web site. Tried to install but it keeps failing about 2/3 of the way thru. Says it is looking for motomdm.inf or widcomm.cab. Motomdm.inf can be found on the web but not sure if they are the right one for me. Even downloaded MPT 2nd time but still same problem. I am running XP sp2. Phone is V3M with Alltel service. Need help before I bring out the big hammer.
clh2991 follow the link below to solve your problem. Verizon locks out the feature that you want on the V3m. Read the whole thread . This is a long one but Cincyball walks someone thru the steps that you will need to do to your phone. good luck hope this helps http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/56369-motorola-phone-tools-doesnt-work-razr.html
I'm new to these forums. I was trying to install MPT that I bought off of ebay, and it just won't do anything. It goes to 1 notch on the progress bar and stays there for hours if I let it, whether I click "continue anyway" or "STOP" on the windows logo testing thingy... it appears data1.cab and data2.cab from my boot folder might be corrupted. engine32.cab will open but the other two won't, so is there anybody who can send me replacements for these two files?
Ok, I've got the same problem with the media center not appearing in MPT, and I read the V3m thread, but I've got a SLVR L7c. Is there a similar fix for it?
I'm in the process of transitioning from Cingular to Verizon. On Cing got a Moto V551; on Verizon, a V325i. Running MPT 4.3.6c. I can tranfer the phonebook with no trouble, but I share the experience others have reported with MultiMedia Studio -- it's grayed out and unavailable. I have a bunch of pics and ringtones on the V551 (and backed up on the PC) that I'd like to transfer to the V325i but obviously cannot currently do so. Spoke with one Verizon rep who assured me that it can't be done, but then I'm not sure he ever heard of MPT or a USB cable... Is there any hope? I've seen some of the threads about SEEM edits and am reluctant to go quite that far -- anybody got any suggestions? Thanks.... :loony:
i have a moto SLVR L7c and the motorolla phone tools won't let me access the multimedia studio...can anyone help
Which version of MPT do you have? Have you downloaded all the updates available from Motorola? If not, try that first and it should correct the problem.
Hello, I have a new razor and have no idea how to use it. I'm having problems with charging and sending text messages. If you could tell me how to turn off the word completion, I thank you very much. ~duck~
Dmcduck, welcome to WA. this thread is specifically for Mobile Phone Tools questions, please be sure to post your question in the appropriate forum and we will gladly help you with your problem. as far as your question goes, you don't specify which version of the Razr you have but if it's for the v3: go to your message menu, select create message when in text mode, press your menu or options button, most likely it's defaulted to iTAP English, select TAP English..done. in newer models after selecting your options key scroll down to text setup > press select > scroll down to word completition > press change > select off done.
Does anyone know how to use MPT to put Mp3 songs into a Sprint V3m phone? I moved an mp3 into the microsd card, but I cannot see it anywhere. External memory card shows nothing? Thank for any help
I'm trying to transfer an mp3 music file with MPT. When I move the file (using MPT) into the External memory card it automatically moves it into the "audio" folder. The file does not show in the music player. It does however show and play under the sound files. How does one get the mp3 file into the music player? This is a Sprint V3m. I tried wma format and the phone will not accept file. Is it possible that I need to use another file format for the music player to recognize it? Thank you...
I don't think the v3m supports wma format. Have you checked Cincyball's thread? it covers your issue > http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/59362-how-cropping-mp3-saving-phone-indiana.html
I just wanted to send a huge thanks to Tony and to Cincy - you guys know your stuff. I have been playing with MPT for the first time (Disc says Version 4) I have a V262 through Alltel. I have no problems loading wallpapers but when I crop and send mp3 to my phone as Cincy walked us through - it reads as a corrupt file on my phone and does not play when chosen. (When I loaded MPT I downloaded the updates) I know the Razr is the phone of choice noted for this process. Am I trying to do something that isn't meant to be done on the V262? Thank you for all of your help. :O
I finally figured out what I was doing wrong, to be able to play mp3's through the V3m music player using MPT. I didn't realize that the MMC (removable) had other folders within. I was moving the mp3's directly into the MMC folder instead of moving them to the MMC/music folder. If you move the mp3 directly to the MMC folder it will put the mp3 into the "Audio" folder which will show under ringtone sounds in your V3m. The music player now shows all the songs.
I have MPT 3.17a which works fine for my V3c. My daughter has an V3m. Can my software be upgraded? Do I have to buy v4.0? I checked the Moto site but can't find where you upgrade software. Thanks for your help.
I have a Cingular Slvr L7 I made/crop the audio files with mutli-media studio saved as wave then open the new cropped file with multimedia studio and transfer to phone works fine i can see them in the sounds section of phone even play them but it doesnt let me apply them as ring tones. does anyone have any info on this
