Hey Brokkanic, welcome to WA. You made a common mistake among newbies ;) P2Kseem needs to be run with MSU open, not MPT. MSU is Motorola Software Updater. MPT is Motorola Phone Tools. MSU will put the phone into the correct programming mode that will allow P2Kseem to have access to the phones seem files. I assume you are trying to do some seem edits so you can use MPT? Re-read the beginning of this thread and you will see more about how to get MSU running so u can use p2kseem. Good luck!

UPDATE - I finally realized that i am stuck on MPT 4.21a and cannot upgrade to 4.36. Live update does not indicate any newer versions and the software will not actually install unless i can connect the phone which is not working.

I've sent BVRP support email asking for help with the upgrade.
. Sorry if i confused anyone with my question. It is really hard to figure out what version of MPT you are on when the software will not actually start

    Another question regarding MPT...

I was able to seem edit my phone to all the specs listed here. I even went a bit overboard and did some of the other ones listed on that hack the razor site. So all that stuff is good.

The issue i'm having now is that I still can't connect to MPT V4.21. It connects to everything else. I can even sync it to WMP but it won't connect to MPT.

I did notice that 'Motorola USB Modem' is not listed in the choices of modems when I try to format the connections on MPT.

    Any fix for this?

    Thanks.

When u connect your phone, you need it to show as Motorola USB Modem in the device manager. If it does, then u should be able to connect via MPT. If it doesnt, u need to unplug the phone, plug it back in, and see if it shows up. When u use the phone in one program such as syncing with WMP10, or if u just used MSU and p2kseem to do seem edits, u need to unplug/plug back in ur phone so that it will release from the program u were just in. If that still doesnt work, u need to re-run DriverTool4.21 that was discussed in the sticky at the top of this forum labled, Getting your V3C/V3M Connected. Then once it is charging, and u can see it listed in device manager as Motorola USB Modem, you should be able to open MPT and have it detected.

Thanks. No idea what happened but I tried it again today and it works fine now.

I got this tip from another board. No idea if it works but it looks like another alternative for loading ring tones through p2k commander...
    Hope this helps someone.

Glad it is working again. Just as a heads up, please dont post the same question/info in two different threads. It will help keep these overloaded forums a little cleaner ;)

For anyone wondering about it, here is info regarding the p2kcommander info:

    Hi Cincyball,

I've been following your threads regarding unblocking file transfers for Verizon V3m phones. When I have some time during the Christmas holidays I'm planning to "have at it" with my phone. Will the same procedure enable bluetooth file transfers too, or is there another edit to accomplish that? I can link to my bluetooth headset, but Verizon blocks BT file transfers.

    Thanks!

Good luck! You will find it surprisingly easy if you take your time and follow the steps ;)

As for Verizon blocking Bluetooth file transfer...they flat out didnt even write the code into the firmware, so there isnt anything we can do to enable it. One of the seem edits that enables usb data transfer unlocks bluetooth file transfer, BUT IN MPT ONLY. You cant transfer files outside of bluetooth :(

Thats why you see my sig saying I flashed to Alltel v3c firmare. Yes I lost my transflash, but I gained FULL bluetooth file transfer (phone <-> phone and phone <-> computer). As well as many other things, such as the Moto UI (no red bars), custom skins, etc. But thats for another discussion!

Good luck, and feel free to ask if u have any questions.

    Happy holidays!

    Update:

    1st off - I have Sprint V3m (grey) running .37 software.

Today BVRP software support provided me a download link for MPT 4.36 which i downloaded and installed on my IBM Thinkpad (XP SP2).

I plugged my phone in and it installed the drivers and launched the program no problems. I can see the Multi-Media Studio and have been able to transfer mp3 to the audio folder and update contacts, etc.

So the key for Sprint users is to get your phone on version .37 and get MPT 4.36 and you should be good to go out of the box.

    Good luck everyone!

Phil, its not bothersome, thats what these forums are for. Just a couple things:

    1) Did you get the correct drivers downloaded to charge your phone via usb port?

    2) Make sure your Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) is the newest version (4.36)

Once we figure it out, yes, MPT will let u send/receive pics to/from the phone. It will also allow you to send mp3 (to be used as ringtones). Let me know if you have any other questions.

You have a LOOOONG night in front of you. The program only updates one version at a time. SO you need to go from 4.04 to 4.21. Install it, then update again to get from 4.21 to 4.36. I hope you have some things to keep you busy.

Quick question! I was looking on the bvrp site for the d/l and the only choice for a razr was the V3. Would I still order this for the V3m?

    Thanks,
    Steve

Steve, yea, u can order for the v3m if u see it, or the v3c, or even the v3. Its all the same program regardless. I think they just put the options there so they can see which phones are being used the most with the program. So, just enter whichever, id say just do the v3c. You will probably be downloading version 4, so u will need to live update it to the newest, which is 4.36.

Note: remember to use the discount code ;) saves u some money, especially this time of year :D

Seems I have a little problem. Been using the MPT and downloaded some ringtones and they were huge but played fine. So I cut the bit rate down and now if I load a ringtone to my phone it will not play it. I see a green and black striped bar under it. Did changing the bit rate make it do that?

    Thanks,
    Steve

Steve, I just usually crop the ringtone in Melody Studio, and hit transfer to phone. That always makes them sound good enough for me, and they always work.

  Cincy:cool: and all that use the forum. My thanks! I just watched Donald Duck get married on my phone! I'm in the process of seem editing 2 pink v3m s now. Santa really came through and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the user typing as Cincy might be the real big deal: Santa himself!

Thanks again for the great forum, thread and links. I'm really glad you decided to post the step by step in this format instead of im'ing or email. Great guide.

with the one gig card and Cincy's kickin .3gp converter, not to mention the step by step guide to converting the cell phone into a very portable video playback thingamagjig, I'll be able to store at least five 2 hour movies. 10 hours of video on the razr.... crazy.:D

hey, what are you guys doing to view how much room is left on your phones? Cincy, with you flashing to alltell, no microsd, right? so you are not using it for storage like I'm describing really are you? What cool things does your razr do?
