I edit the seems but mtp cant communicate with my phone...

also the motorola software update gives me this message...

Your device is not fully powered up.

Please try again by completing the following steps:
    1. Reconnect the usb data cable to the PC.
    2. Power off your Motorola device and turn it back on.
    3. Reconnect your Motorola device to the USB data cable.
When you have completed these steps successfully, the software update process will resume.

    can u please help me?

    :O

    From post #34
Did you do this seem edit as well? The one you quoted me above was the 2nd of TWO that need to be done.

I assume u have realized that MSU must be left open while using p2kseem.

Let me know if u did both seem edits:

    Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0, Offset 006a, Bit 0 - Check to ON
Seem 2827, Record 1, Bytes 22, Offset 0006, Bit 0,2,3,6 - Check to ON, Bite 1,4,5,7 Leave OFF

Once done, u also need to restart your phone.
Then open MPT without phone connected, it will tell u to connect the phone, etc. Just make sure u are using at least version 4.21a or 4.36

i think that its my version of mpt that is not 4.21a or 4.36...

i went to the update option but it was telling me to purchase it for around 30 bucks.... is there any way for me to check which version i'm running and how can i update it without paying the fee???

When u open MPT, and u get the phone model in the left corner (even if it doesnt connect), click on the Menu button on the fake phone, then click setup, then click update. It should check to see if u have the newest. It will prompt u with updates if available (should be, and it doesnt cost anything). It only does one version at a time. So u may have to do it a few times.

You are making me nervous by saying there are 2 offsets at 0006. Unless u have your lingo backwards, 0006 IS THE OFFSET (once in the offset, there are 8 boxes...bits 0-7)... Can u load that seem and take a screen shot of where u are working on the seems so i can make sure u are doing the right thing...

When and Where did u buy version 3.0 from? When u buy it nowadays for $25 +/-, the nice thing is u can update for free. Im not sure they have that option on their older versions. That is definitely why it doesnt recognize ur phone ;)

This is how it should look. Check to make sure all ur values are the same as mine. This goes for any seem...obviously the values are different, but if u can emulate this, u will be fine to do the rest

drop top, you need to do the software update on your phone...that is if it doesnt already have the newest. Have u tried that yet? There is some info around here about it. And about MPT, how are u trying to update? Are u opening the program and clicking on the menu button on the fake phone that shows on the screen, then going into setup -> update? Or are u trying to use the live update in the program folder? 4.36 is definitely the newest, so u will need that before u can get anywhere.

I got it to recognize the phone and did 3 mp3 ringtones. but I have the newest phone update, and on the mpt I used the menu, setup, update. where is the live update? do you have to register to get it because I hit reg later. also how do you change the outside lcd on the Sprint version is it going to be the same as the verizon version? this is the v3m. definitely not familiar with seem edits at all. I get it and I don't I guess? some of them looked right and some didn't. thanks in advance for the help.

Well, if u got it to recognize, then you are on the newest version, so it wont prompt u to update. But no, u dont need to be registered.

As for the outside lcd image (while the phone is flipped open), go into BitPim and see if u can locate the file. (for verizon, it is called verizon.gif located in a/mobile)

Feel free to ask if u have any questions. A hint is to when u get to files u think might be it, right click and save it to the computer. View it and see if u recognize it anywhere on the phone.

After spending most of the day on the phone with the folks at Motorola, I am my wits end ... I have seen all of the help you have offered to others. I only hope I am so lucky.

I have a V3 with service from Cingular (and an AT&T Wireless card inside) and I cannot for the life of me get MPT to work. The Motorola USB modem shows up in device manager and it will charge when plugged in to the back of the comp. However, it always stops after "Your phone is being installed ..." and goes to the "Can not detect your phone" error message. The people at Motorola had me going in circles and I have for case IDs than I know what to do with.

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

you might want to direct ur question into the gsm thread. this info is for cdma razr's. the only thing i would recommend is to make sure u have the newest MPT , which is version 4.36.

    Aloha from Hawaii...

First off, thank you for the great information provided in this thread. It's been an immense help.

One issue though... I've managed to get my V3m to connect to MPT. However, I can't seem to get P2k Seem Edit to connect to my phone while MPT is running.

I've tried to run P2K alone, it connects, but it never pulls up any data.

Any advice on getting P2K to work would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I am another newbie who has read through the thread and is having difficulty getting my Sprint V3m RAZR to work with MPT. I'm hoping Cincy or someone as famliar with these issues can help.

1st - My Sprint software version is 24.2_00.37.00R

2nd - Today i purchased MPT using the link and discount found in another thread on this site and i went through all the updates to what i believe is the latest. When i use the "Live Update" it indicates there is no newer version.

3rd - I downloaded and executed the DriverTool-421a.exe from my desktop with the phone turned off and the data cable plugged in.

4th - Device manager when i plug the phone in, it shows under Other Devices > Motorola L7c/K1m/V3m

I was under the impression from the various threads that if i was running Sprint software version .37 i would not need to perform the seem edits or anything beyond updating the drivers and the MPT software.

Is it likely i'll need to perform these edits?

    I have a silver Razr v3m.

Also, is it possible that my USB port (it's an older laptop with USB 1.0 only) is the issue? It works with other devices (albeit at slower speeds), so i was hoping this phone will work with USB 1.0.

Thanks for your help, i know some of this is repeat from previous threads or earlier in this same thread.

    Best,
    TS
