First, welcome to WA. Did you read thru the whole thread? In here is the usb drivers. I will attach them again below. Connect your phone, run the DriverTool4.21a. When it looks for the driver, let windows choose automatically. It will install as a v3c, that is okay.
Quick update for the Sprint V3m razr. Hey! With more pain and issues than i care to go into (including registry edits, then manual file copies, and command line live update) I have finally installed MPT. hours... worst install ever! anyhow, the first seem edit (usb file transfer) already appeared enabled. So, I did nothing with that seem edit. I did perform the second seem edit (adding the M to the id string). I have not played around with it yet, but I DO at least see the Multi Media Studio icon....and it does bring up that tool. So, I assume that it will work. Try it out tomorrow. --zippy
I was able to follow the step by step procedures listed in this thread and get my new RAZR V3M to work w/ Motorola Phone Tools as it should. Although some of the offset numbers were different on my SEEM I was able to figure it out w/ help of the thorough descriptions. I was very worried about screwing up my brand new phone but this site helped me overcome my fears and fix my phone to do what it should have done out of the box in the first place. Thanks again.
I have a V3m with Alltel and was trying to see what software(s) I need to download in order for me to have access to music files.
All you need is Motorola Phone Tools and u can create and transfer all the pics/ringtones u want for free. It will also back up your contacts/calendar/text, etc. Alltel's phones are good to go out of the box
You must purchase the program. It is not freeware like some programs we use. You can buy it and download it instantly without waiting for the cd in the mail. Read this thread for where to download it and for discount code -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/58857-where-can-i-download-mpt-4-a.html If you dont have a usb cable, u might wanna just get the whole kit mailed to u. But either way, its not legally free.
I just got an Alltel phone V3m Razor and I can't get anything to work, all the icons are clickable but when I click a bar comes up acting like it is transfering, etc. then it goes away. I'll try it on another PC just to make sure it's not my PC. I guess it could be my cable, it's a cable for a Dell Laptop Floppy drive, maybe it doesn't support it correctly. Thanks for the information on your posts Cincy.
Uh oh, now all of a sudden I can't get it to sync up w/ Windows Media Player 10 again to upload music to the mp3 player on the phone. Now what? Every time I hook it up now it sees the phone as a v3c but can't find a driver. All I can do is get it to set up as a USB modem.
Ok, I'm an idiot. Somehow I must have reinstalled the old driver. I went back and found the 4.21A driver and ran that and everything works again. I should just quit messing w/ it while everything still works I guess.
Spence, what usb driver are u using? Is it the DriverTool4.21a? Even if u installed it to get ur phone running, once u install MPT, it will revert back to older drivers. This could be causing the problem. I suggest running DriverTool4.21a again, and see if that clears anything up. Noah, that could be what happened to you. Good catch on your part to get it working.
Cincy, I got it working on the work computer, so I'll try restarting everything on the home PC. Again thanks for the help.
That's probably what happened. I had just unhooked from MPT then decided at the last minute to sync up to Media Player to add a song to the mp3 player when the trouble started. So do I need to run the 4.21A driver tool each time I switch back and forth between MPT and Media player or was this an install issue?
Any time u leave a program that was using ur phone, u will need to unplug ur phone and plug it back in so the program u just had open will release your phone so the next program can use it. Just closing a progam isnt enough.
I have kind of the same problem now. I did all the instructions Cincyball said to do earlier. My V3c worked great and I even downloaded a song from my computer onto my phone. I was VERY excited! That was yesterday. Today I came in and now MPT won't even recognize my phone. I don't know what I did. I did open Realplayer and I can't remember what I did. I tried restoring my computer to earlier and re-installing and updating MPT, but it still won't work so I just restored it back to where it was today. I don't know how to fix it and am not as comp. savy as some on here. I don't know how to re-install the driver or even find it. I looked in the device manager and the USB Motorolla Modem isn't there. so I don't know what to do. I would like to download ringtones and songs, but can't even get it to work at all now. Please help.
Here is drivertool 4.21a. Run this, and get it to show as Motorola USB Modem is device manager, n u should be back again.
I tried that and it is still doing the same thing. Mine is a Verizon phone. But anyway, I looked in "Phone and Modem Options" It has "Motorola USB Modem", but under "Attached" it says "Not Present". How do I get it to recognize it? Sorry for my ignorance. Also, whenever I plug in my phone the "Add New Hardware Wizard" comes up, but it says it can't find the necessary software. It says it's a "Motorola Vc3" when I plug it in
So u have ur phone plugged into a rear usb port on ur comp. you run drivertool4.21a and nothing happens?
I have it plugged into the side USB port. There are 2 on the back and 2 on the side - are they different somehow?
That did the same thing. It searches for new hardware and installs updates, but everything is still the same
Is there something more I need to do for it to work? MPT doesn't recognize the phone. My comp reconizes it, but keeps wanting to treat it as new hardware and then says that it doesn't have the software to download. I don't get it. It worked great the other day.
PERFECT!! Thanks. It works now. Am I supposed to have my phone off whenever I plug it in? I didn't know that.
no, that should just be for initial set up to avoid driver conflict. try it with it on, should be good.
Okay, I just found this forum, read everything and did everything, know i'm stuck with what seems like what everybody's having trouble with, it doesnt sync with the pc...It worked at first but than, I jacked it up, I guess I mustve reinstalled the old driver, now when I try to reinstall the 4.21a driver, it sees it as a v3c...is there anyway we can get it back to the factory settings? or how do I fix this..HELP? SOS?, yea the phone seems to charge though...hehhe..help if any?
