Hey Cincyball! I needed the drivers so googled your name, driver and razr and this was the first result. Thank you still! When are you upgrading to the Dare or something else? How are the speeds if using your v3m for a modem? Any links to this info? I'm moving out to the sticks and no more high speed cable connection... Happy Thanksgiving!
oh man i really messed something up! i started following the instructions in this thread - i downloaded the software update program - plugged the phone in and it got to the point where i was to unplug the phone - restart it and plug it back in........the program would not finish stating something like the phone was not on (which it was)......i finally just exited the program but now all my photos and mps3 are gone from my phone. is there anyway to "uninstall" the update program or something and do you have any ideas where my media went? my contacts are still there etc. i'm sorry - i should have left well enough alone i guess. thanks for any help that you might provide.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I never trusted that my data would still be intact after an update. (It usually was though). Always make a backup. Even if the update could be "uninstalled" your data is gone. Your only hope is that data that was on a removeable data card may still be intact if you take the data card out and read it with a computer. -Jay
Cincyball: I have successfully installed these 2 programs, amd the Multimedia Studio now shows up on my computer, but when I try to transfer ringtones to my phone in mp3 format, it says the phone won't recognize it. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Yes, I've downloaded the Motorola Software Update and the P2K seem editor and have successfully run/installed both of them. I can get to the point where I can crop and save a song, but when I tried to transfer it to my phone as a ringtone, it says my phone won't recognize the format...but it was in mp3 format. Do you know why it's doing this?
the format for a ring tone is mp3. and they are in the audiofile on your phone. im using vista 64bit and the 64bit driver file, after you install motorola phone tools then install the usb driver-then start your motorola phonetools it shouldcome up with a config file to start the connection for your phone "name" any name you want ex "myphone" then blu tooth or usb cable click cable"make sure you phone is hooked up and passwords if any are entered, then you should see a blu bar moving "its locating you phone" when its done and if all went well you shoule be able to access pictures-music and all kinds of stuff, adn you can transfer files both ways on your computer. if this doesnt work reinstall "only the usb drivers" i have had to do that before to get it to work
======================================== I am experiencing the same thing with the "Silent Ringer" on my Motorola V3m. I have been using MPT for a couple years and I have not had issues until now. I had a V3c and a V3m before this one and the last update to MPT really screwed me up. It seems every couple month I update my phone I have to completely update the software. I do not trust it anymore and I will only one way transfer from now on. The two way sync duplicated my contacts with the last, first and first last difference between the two databases. My computer is Last, First sorted and my phone is First Last. Thankfully I had a backup as I would have to manually find and delete 190 contacts that got duplicated from my overall 1000 contacts. I am less than pleased that 9 months after this post there is not a fix available. Since I just updated my software I am even less pleased that they allowed this to continue happening without a warning. Before I found this post I called Verizon to troubleshoot why it seemed to ring sometimes and not others. It was really when a number not in my contacts list called it would ring. I was told to delete all my contacts and manually enter them. I told Verizon that was not a solution. This is why I bought the damn cable and software. At that time I still didn't know why it would ring if I deleted the contact and manually entered it again. I finally opened my eyes and noticed the ringer in the contact profile was silent. I changed it to a ringer and it worked. So I actually stumbled upon this myself. I decided to try a few things before I committed to manually changing all my ringers for almost 200 contacts. I deleted all my contacts and master reset my phone. I transferred all the contacts again and it still listed them all as Silent. No luck still. It seems crazy that you can't configure all contacts to use the same ringer. I to this day don't individually change contacts ringer to be unique so the feature is useless to me and has only caused me a problem. Previous phones I owned had a master ringer for known IDs and a different one for unknown IDs. Before nationwide call anywhere anytime there was a roaming ringer too. GREAT UPGRADE. Feature is worthless if you can't configure from MPT.
my multimedia tab is missing HELP!!!!! the other stuff is there and i lost the MM tab when it asked me to update
I called Verizon again, because Motorola support never followed up on my escalated support call. Anyway, I described what was happening and told them all my ringers were changed to SILENT and not DEFAULT after a recent transfer from Outlook via Phone Tools. Evidently Motorola updated the Software and a new firmware is required on the Phone. I was told to go to my local Verizon store to get the latest update and then the transfer will work. I have not done it yet, so I am not sure it really works. I will say the support person I spoke too did make feel like this was the solution, ie it didn't sound like a line of BS to get me off the phone. I will post once I get my phone updated to let you know if it works.
I have been following your instructions and got to this point, but I don't see where to "enable USB file transfer" help!!
I'm having the same problem but i have the rokr E8?Anyhelp would be great please anything...i really want my own ringtones and stuff cause i can put any ringotnes of my own right now and people have said its cause i need MPT.so please someone help me out :S
I have read and re-read this whole thread. I can't do anything. when I restart my computer it will charge the phone. When I run the update it says the phone isn't connected. when I unplug and replug the usb in and now says "unauthorized charger" I can't figure this out and I have been trying for hours now. HELP
This is truly the thread that will not die!! I've got a few questions, can anybody help me out?! I skimmed through this thread, but didn't find what I was after. I'm gonna keep searching, but I'll post here first. I've been working on this for WEEKS!! I have a gray Sprint v3m. I've done the proper seem edits and MPT works... except for one thing. I can't select the Text Message icon. It's all grayed out and not able to be selected. I've been looking everywhere to figure out how to correct this, but no luck. Can anybody tell me how to fix this issue? I'm suspecting that something else is going on here. When I plug my phone in and open MPT, isn't it supposed to display the type of phone I have? There should be an interactive picture of my Razr, right? Well, there isn't. Instead, it's something else. Maybe some sort of generic phone or something. Either way, it looks nothing like what I actually own. Everything else seems to work on the program. Just not the text messaging option. I'm wondering if maybe I've got the wrong drivers. I used MSU to install them automatically. I would think that that would mean that they're right, but I have issues with some of the other freeware. One example: when I try to use P2KTools to access the file system, I'm unable to connect. There are other issues, but that's just one example. Any help you guys might give would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance. Jon
I got a firmware update from Verizon and it worked. The contacts all listed "Default not "Silent". One major setback after the firmware update. My graphics card evidentially went bad immediately following. I mean I flipped the phone closed and the next time I openned it up the screen was distored at 45 degrees. The screen wrapped around to the other side. I powered it off and it was fine for the first couple minutes after, but then it would get screwed up again. Verizon told me it wasout of warrenty and that there was no recorded issues about this happening after a firmware update and sent me on my way. I have a new phone now. fun.
I am brand new here... and computer literate... i have a razr v3m phone that has been flashed to cricket but I cannot access the internet or send MMS messages. I have found the programs that are supposed to work but cannot get them to install of if they do... they don't do anything. I know I am doing something wrong here... can anyone please help me. Thank you.... AJ
Hello To Everyone, I am a "Newbie" and I may be in the wrong place to post this, but I really need to ask this question to Cincyball. I wanted to know if the instructions you gave to WColton on how to make the Razr V3m work with Motorola phone tools Multimedia Studio to make your own ring-tones is still valid. Has anything changed since you walked him through the seeming process? I want to try and attempt to do this, but I have never done anything like this before and to a newbie Granny..its scary.. I have Motorola Phone Tools Version 4.5.6a I can only hope I can do it correctly and not ruin my phone. Thank-you for your Help and Patience and Thank-you to everyone in here for allowing me to post this question even if I am in the wrong place. I appreciate your understanding of a "Newbie" Sunnie Sunnie is in the house! Report Post Digg this Post!Add Post to del.icio.usFurl this Post! Reply With Quote
Hey Dear, I am not sure butRAZR V3 has been on the market for almost two years, so why bother with a review at this point? At least two reasons: It is still the #1 selling mobile phone, occupying 3 of the top 10 positions for the first half of 2006 according to business wire. Because it is way cool and still turning heads in personal and business circles. Motorola has some impressive new offerings, but it has yet to top the RAZR in terms of user draw and loyalty.
You do realize this thread is not a review, but a "how to" guide for hacking the CDMA V3 models, and this thread has been active for 3 years...
Hi all, I have a razr v3m verizon and used mpt as instructed in this thread, all is good with adding songs and pics but have no luck getting ringtones. They are set to mp3 less than 30's and no matter how I try it come's up denied as wrong format. Any idea's? Any other info you need just ask. Using xp pro SP2 Thank's
Hello all, brand new to the forum here. I recently got a v3m and it does work with mpt. But I got a memory card for it and when that is in the phone then mpt dosn't recognise it. What's up with that? Also I had planned to put a game or two on the card, any help with that will be greatly appreciated.
Ok so I get this message on my phone that says "connected as a usb device" when the card is in the phone. Any help at all would be greatly apprecieated.
IMO, the problem is Motorola Phone Tools. They aren't updating/revising it anymore, and when they have, it's been even less functional than the version before. Unfortunately for you and others still using MPT, it's a relic of the past. The lack of more specific responses to your question and the disgruntled member before you means there aren't any other members here still using it (or at least none with familiarity of your issue). The V3m being such old phone means the types of games you can put on it is quite limited. I wish I could give you a more specific answer to your question, but I can't. MPT was always marginal at best and problems like you're experiencing are typical of the myriad of issues with the software. Unless you're doing basic simple stuff, it fails by a mile. Unless you are a programmer who can get into the meat of the software to diagnose the conflict, I'm afraid you're out of luck on this one. The only other thing I can suggest is Googling the Motorola support forums. Hopefully someone there can give you a more technical answer.
