I would be happy just to be able to sync my calendar and contacts. I still receive the fatal error which means I can't do anything until the phone is recognized

I don't have anything narrowed down, what do you think I delete every &*#_)@)()## reference to Motorola on my computer including the (&(&@)E_+ registry and start over? What do you think?

sounds like you have something loaded on that comp that is causing a conflict. Only option I see is to do what I mentioned in my previous post of uninstalling everything and running ccleaner to cleaner up the registry and try it again. Or setup a different login that only load the min windows drivers and use that login for just the phone hacking like the other member is going to try. They narrowed down it must be a comp issue due to the fact they tried it on a different comp and it worked fine. It's either ty those few things or wipe the comp and reinstall XP from scratch to clean up the system.

Not a problem. If ccleaner doesn't do it I'd try setting up a different login on the comp and see what that does for ya. It's got to be a conflict with drivers somewhere in the comp, the problem is trying to figure out what is the actual problem child file is to correct it.

Ok, so I have a Verizon V3m with 01.19.07. I tried seem editing it until i find out thats impossible on my firmware. So I decided I'd settle with only ringtones and syncing with my pc. However, my phone isnbt syncing with Windows Media Player. Initially, my phone is recognized by my computer as a modem, as it should, but when I try to sync music, it tries to install a different driver, an MPT driver as it says. It tries to find it, it doesnt, and then it just says "cant connect" on the phone. Do I have to have motorla phone tools on my computer to sync with windows media player? oh, and im using wmp 11.

No you don't need MPT to syns, unless they changed something in the new firmware. As for the driver thing head of to VZW's site and run a search. they should have the driver for download to sync with WMP.

"Hi, I am new to this thread and a little new to the world of multimedia and cell phones. I have a Razr v3m and have been trying endlessly with no luck so far to get drivers installed. Even the drivers that came with my Verizon Vcast kit don't work. I have all of the software, MPT, and all that, I have been scouring the web all day, looking for tips, tools, etc. I have installed numerous "drivers:. but the basic problem is still there: my computer does not recognize my phone. Once I can get over this hurdle I am confident that I can handle the rest ("unlocking" the phone, etc).

I read the lengthy thread on hear about problem related to this and noticed that they were from 2006. I was wondering if anyone had any new info on this driver issue with the Razr v3m. I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place. Anyone with advice, answers, aspirin, please, help!!"

Just a follow up to my last post; I read the beginning of this thread and followed the steps; I get stuck at #30 (post 30); when I plug my phone in, and windows tries to look for the drivers, it doesn't find anything. I have tried installing the Motorola EU Driver Installation package, both version 2.7.6 and Motorola USB Driver 32 v 3.4.0. Both of these have had zero luck. As I said, I have not even had any luck with the vCast CD that came with the Verizon music kit. Please help!

try uninstalling the Vcast garbage and then use a restore point to something prior to when you installed them. The drivers that came from VZW are more then likely what has messed everything up. I have yet to date ever get a comp to work right with the phone after those were tried. Heck I had one friend who had to go to the extreme and do a fresh install of Windows again. Once he did and install only the moto drivers it took on the first shot.

Hah, wouldn't you know it. I tried to restore yo an earlier date, and there are no restore points available on my laptop before yesterday, when I started this whole mess. When I tried to pick a point before I started with the VCast software, windows couldn't restore the computer.

Just my luck; I am going to have to wait and attempt this all with my desktop when the movers get it here. I will definitely be setting a restore point before I do anything though! :O

I've been reading the in depth directions on how to make Phone Tools work on Verizon RAZR phone so you can upload multimedia content. Does anyone know if these directions will work the same on the Motorola z6tv? I bought this yesterday, updated to the most recent Phone Tools, and am having the exact same issues as the rest of the group (circa 2006). I plug in my z6 via USB, it charges, but it not recognized by MPT and never recovers from "initializing" after i manually select the phone type. Help!

^^^If your phone is from VZW and it is new, odds are it has the newest firmware on it ( ie .01.19.07). That being the case you can not use MPT to transfer ring tones, and there is no way around it what so ever. There are no hacks or anything to get access to it for transferring ring tones via MPT. Plz don't take that out of context either. I'm not saying you can't get tones on it you just ca not use MPT to do it is all.

I have a new phone and I am also stuck on the "unsupported media type
' error when trying to transfer ringtones to phone. With the melody studio I get a "processing failed" error when i try to transfer any ringtones. I guess that means we are stuck buying them through verizon?

I have a new Moto Razr v3m phone and am trying to set it up to be able to access via my PC to sync and transfer files. I downloaded MPT, but now see that doesn't work with the newer phones. I followed the step-by-step instructions at the beginning of this thread for downloading MSU and P2kSeem. My computer recognizes the phone and charges via the USB cable. I installed MSU, it tells me there are no updates for my phone and gives me a MEID number (not ESN). In Device Manager I see the phone listed as a modem. But when I try to run P2K Seem, it says "not connected" down in the lower left corner, even though the phone is still connected to the computer. I'm stuck... these instructions are from 2006 so I am assuming something has changed due to more recent firmware (as eluded to in more recent posts), but what do I need to do on this new phone to be able to transfer between phone and PC? Thanks!

I think it ended up being a problem with the update site - it will no longer allow me to update 4.xx to 5.xx ...

So here is a strange one...

I have been using MPT with a Verizon Razr without problems for two years now, first with a V3c and then with a V3m. I recently exchanged my V3m for a replacement because I thought the ringer had malfunctioned. As it turns out, MPT 5.07a now converts every user's personal ring tone to 'no ring'. This requires me to manually remove each user's ring tone in order to hear their inbound call.

Has anyone seen this? Does anyone have any suggestions? :dunno: Thanks!

Edit: I found the following 'official' answer validating that the problem exists... of course I am still interested in if anyone has found a solution. BVRPforums.com/motorola :: View topic - ringer ID goes to silent when sync

MPT 5.x improperly sets all contact personal ringers to "no ring".

The only solution I found to avoid this problem is to use older versions of the software such as MPT 4.5.1. The version 4 software works like a champ.

    I hope this helps.
