    ^^^What carrier are you with?

If it's VZW what firmware ( ie flash) version is on your phone? If you don't know pull the battery and look at the sticker. It will be listed next to where you see ' S/W".

Hate to say this but, with that firmware on the phone MPT will never work getting ring tones over to it. Which is exactly why you received that error msg. With that firmware MPT should work with everything else EXCEPT ring tones. your only option at this point is going to be using MSU along with p2kcommander to get ring tones on the phone. Whatever VZW did in the new firmware WILL NOT all use with MPT not matter what hacks you try to do to the phone.

In the 1st seem edit it says to check the box beside USB file transfer in MPT and E815 BT OBEX.
Mine was already check and also checked is boxes 1,5,6 and 7. My question is, should the boxes 1,5,6 and 7 be checked or not ????? Thanks

First off the reason bit box 1 is checked is because you have the newer firmware. VZW did not disable the USB transfer function on this firrmware.

Secondly as for doing seem edits, always leave everything else in the bit boxes exactly as they are. Only check or uncheck what is tells you to, and leave everything else the way you see it. So like in this case if bit 1 was not checked but the other were, you'd still only want to check bit 1 and not change anything else.

Our new Razr has the 24.1_01.19.07 f/w. I used P2kCommander v3.2.2 to add the ringtones (and deleted mytonesdb). I didn't do any seem edits to the phone, so I don't think you need to do any at all. Also, I put the tones in the motorola/shared/ringtones folder on the phone itself (the guide says to use the shared/audio folder, but I'm not sure that works on this f/w).

^^^FYI, they guide states /shared/audio folder becsaue that is what was used on the older firmwares. On the newest one they switched which folder ring tones go into.

I have a verizon razr with the new fw. 24.1_01.19.07. I have tried to transfer ringtones using P2K commander 3.2.2. I have done it with and without the seem edits to make my phone a v3mm. I can get the ringtones on my phone and play them on the ringtone menu. I can't set and use them as an actual ringtone though. I can just see and play from the ringtone menu only.

    Anybody, please help.

    Thanks.

After transferring the ringtone via p2kcommander did you go back in to the root directy of the phone and delete the mytone.db file? If not do that, then unplug the phone and cycyle the power and you should be god to go. Peace

    Hey man, follow these steps:

    ERROR:
    "Telephony Interface cannot successfully
    start"

It sounds like the windows telephony service isn't running. While logged in as an administrator right click my computer and click manage. In the left side of the windows management console click services and then find telephony in the list on the right. Right click it, select properties and set it to start automatically and click apply then start. Click ok and exit the console.

    This should fix the problem.

I just wanted to say thanks for the external screen-flip shut seem edit. I love being able to see something other than the ugly Verizon background!

Okay - first off, thanks to Cincyball for writing clear, easy-to-follow directions on getting the Verizon phone unlocked. I hope that at some point you come back to the forums (I read through all 28 pages on this thread before posting, and saw that you had left due to someone's rude behavior).

I've successfully unlocked my Verizon V3m to V3mM status, and can use MPT Multimedia Studio to transfer pictures to/from my phone. However, when I try to transfer an MP3 file, I get an error "Unsupported media type (0x4f)" error. This happens whether I try to move an MP3 file that I created (guaranteed no DRM), one that I ripped from one of my CDs, or one that I crop inside of Multimedia Studio and save to phone. Anyone run into this situation and found a way around this error code? I'd really like to be able to put my custom MP3s in, both to listen to, and to use as ringtones.

    Thanks much.

What version firmware is on your VZW v3m. If it is the newest release .01.19.07 no can do getting mp3 ring tones on it using MPT. Whatever VZW did with the new firmware has completely blocked access to the transferring of ring tones. Only option to get them on the phone is by using p2kcommander along wiht MSU.

    Thanks, Izzyd.

That's the FW version I've got. *sigh* I'll see if I can get the latest P2KCommander running then -- the version I was trying to work with this weekend crashed out every time I tried to access the phone. (Windows XP SP2 platform, MSU vC01.11.15, P2KC v4.9.D)

try using an older version of p2kcommander. A buddy of mine had nothing but trouble using the newer version you had also. If memory serves me he got it to work fine when he used either 3.2.2 or 3.2.6 of p2kcommander I can't recall exactly.

FYI on the new firmware if you didn't know the ring tones need to go in the /motorola/shared/ringtone folder, and not the /motorola/shared audio folder like in the old firmware. Only other thing would be it's still the same as normal, once you transfer the tones using p2kcommander you will still need to go back to the root directory of the phone and delete the "mytone.db" file. Then unplug the phone cycle the power and your new tones should show up fine. As an added FYI if you didn't know everytime you delete the mytone.db file you will in fact have to go back and reset all the ring tones you had set. reason being is by deleting that file and cycling the power it reindexes all the audio files on the phone which is why all he tones get reset. If you don't delte that file the new tones will not work correctly.

I found a lot of great info on this thread. I was disappointed that MPT doesnt work on VZW for ringers, but it is nice to have for backing up my contacts and calendar. I recently learned how to make ringtones with Audacity and transfer them to my phone with p2k commander. I too had to find an older version to work on my Vista but once I did it works great. I got a crash course in flashing my phone cause I got a little over zellous pulling ringers off my phone that I thought I didnt need :O oh well. I reflahed it and got it working again.

^^^^Curious, being you had to flash your phone which flash file is on it currently? I'm assuming you went with the actual VZW firmware and not one of the other carriers.

Reason I ask is depending on which firmware you have on it, MPT may work. I still use MPT with both of my Razr's ( v3c & v3m), my vv9m, and Maxx Ve.

Got my .mp3 file transferred successfully using p2kcommander 3.2.2. Deleted the mytone.db file, and power cycled the phone. Now the audio file shows up in the ringtone list, but doesn't play. I think I saw this in one of the other threads, so am going to go see if I can find that again, but wanted to let people know what version of p2kcommander I got things working with. :) (And I'm still using the MSU referenced in my earlier post behind p2kcommander.)

    {edit} Turns out that when the phone is set to "vibrate", it won't play ringtones. *wry look at own user error* Once I set the volume, I was able to play my ringtone just fine. Also, thought I'd put a link to p2kcommander's download page, in case that would be useful to people: Index of /commander {/edit}

^^^ If that is the firmware you have on your phone then you are in luck. With that firmware MPT will in fact work with your phone. To do so there are a few options one it to manually set the phone type from the settings list as a v3mm, and do the USB transfer seem edit.

Or do the USB transfer seem edit, along with the ID string seem edit and MPT will auto detect your phone correctly and display the MMS icon so you can in fact use MPT to transfer media.
