Motorola Phone Tools doesn't work with RAZR V3m?

I PM Cincyball, but he hasn't been on recently. So I'll just ask you guys

I'm interested in doing some SEEMing myself, but I just have some questions to ask about it.

First things first I have a Verizon Razr V3m, running on Software version NEWC_01.09.02.

I've heard that its extremely easy, but one mistake and you can brick your phone. I'm a very techy person, but at the same time I always seem to get the bad luck when it comes to me doing modding and such. I saw that you said theres a way to like back up your phones current SEEM so that if bricking was to happen you could just upload or somehow unbrick your phone. Is this correct?

Next I know theres a SEEM to use MPT and put your own custom ringtones on your phone. But I was wonder what other SEEM edits there are. Is there one that lets you have a custom picture on the outer screen of the phone? Also what other SEEMs are there? I'm interested in restoring my RAZR to what it once was.

Another thing is, if I do some SEEMing will it take away some of the other features of the phone? Or is it more like restoring a lost feature?

Also are there any negatives to SEEMing?

I know these seem like a lot of questions, but I just want to make sure I know exactally what I'm doing before doing it.

Greetings. I've been reading thru this thread because my son's US Cellular Motorazr V3M phone will not allow itself to be setup on his PC using MPT. Can I assume that the SEEMs posted here will work on a US Cellular phone? Thanks.

 

I'm having a terrible time with the MPT and my alltel V3m. All updates are done. Downloaded the driver from this site. Still not recognizing my phone. Funny thing was that it did work once or twice today (with errors) but will not work anymore. Any ideas? I've even tried to reinstall. No luck.

Hi, I'm having a problem transferring ringtones to my phone...I did all the seem edits and have my multi media icon up, btw thanks Cincy..But when I try to transfer ringtone to my phone it says "unsupported format(Mp3 codec may be innapropriate or missing). It will let me transfer images from my pc to phone..So what am I doing wrong?

I have a Motorola Z3 mobile phone. I installed MPT and updated to 4.56a. I made a perfect sync of contacts and calendar one time. After that, the program hangs when i try to sync and is unable to read the phone contacts or calendar.

I'vebeen reading a lot of forums and it looks that a lot of people have the same problem even with different phone models.

Does anybody knows how this could be fixed. I will appreciate it a lot as well as all the other users that have the same problem. I heard (read) that it was a firmware problem in the phone and not a MPT problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

Not sure you will find an answer here considering this thread applies to only the V3M. You may want to check with Cincyball he is the all knowing master of disaster.

I just wanted to take a second and say I found posts #24 thru #44 in this thread to work wonderfully on my new Razr V3m(silver). Everything works as it should after the seem edit

i tried goin to Hack the Razr! and download the MSU and it was that it wasnt found. and well i need that to mess with the SEEMs someone lemme know what to do thanks

 

Hello I edited the seems on my v3m and phonetools work except for the melody studio, it gives me an error, i'm confused why maybe it's the program that's damaged. please help...

If I can be of any other help feel free to drop me a line or make a post. I've got both my VZW Razr's (ie v3c & v3m, plus k1m and a slvr ) totally hacked, actually all of my VZW Moto phones are flashed to the Moto user interface to be fully unlocked. Just waiting and hoping some other carrier starts to sell the Maxx Ve and a firmware gets leaked so I can hack that one more, and this weekend I'll be off to flashing my v9m over to the leaked USCC firmware and then get it back activated to VZW's network.

 

I noticed from reading through this forum that several make mention of "firmware flashing" Excuse my ignorance, but what/why pros/cons for doing this. Also, VZW tells customers to routinely do that 228 thing, will that undo the seem edits/hacks I just did? If there is a better thread to address this on, I apologize and will gladly move to appropriate thread. Thanks.

ok i can get the tools to recognize the phone and have all the recommened drivers. i have the v3m on the verizion network. when i click the menu button i dont get tools to access the multimedia studio to download music. what am i missing?

 

go back to page 1 on this thread, you have to do a seem edit and it will let you do file transfers and multimedia transfers. just follow the instructions all the info you need is there.

Ok I need help.

I have a Us Cellular Red razor v3m.

I installed phone tools and it asked me to update it, which I did.

I plug in my usb cable and it doesn't recognize, then I update and nothing.

I run it a second time and it lets me choose by default.

It pulls up a coextant momdem

then I choose v3c, (friend told me that would work) and it just says initlizing phone the whole time.

Help please.

I just want to cut songs for ring tones.

 

I have a v3m with Sprint I also have Motorola Phone Tools 4.21 and I used to be able to use this program with my PC. But now it doesn't work anymore. What can I do to fix this problem? Also, What are seems and what do they have to do with my phone? Please help save a phone and a brick wall

 

My Razor at one time connected to my computer and worked great! I allowed the automatic update and the phone was kicked out of the system and I have been without connectivity for about a month now.

If you could guide me through the process of reinstalling my Moto Razor v3m (verizon; I know) using the MPT 4.2.1a.

I tried the majorty of the things mentioned in this thread and could not get any of it to work for me, so I am ready to start from the begining. :dunno:

Any help that could and would be provided is greatly appreciated.

Is windows seeing the phone correctly? You need to check device manager while the phone is plugged in with no programs running. If it is listed as the Moto USB modem then you should be good to go.

If it is not listed as the moto usb modem then you need to reinstall the drivers and go from there. Reason being is just about every time you update MPT the drivers get messed up and they need to be reinstalled. Moto did just release a new set of driver back at the beginning of Nov so you may want to grab those and install them.

Also being you have VZW as your carrier have you done the seem edits that are needed or MPT to work right in the first place.

No my computer does not recognize the phone correctly. It identfies the phone as a v3c which I know is okay however, it does not have the correct driver. I will attempt to go the the moto site and download a fresh driver.

I have not done the seem edit as I cannot get the MSU nor the p2k to download and run. I am almost to the point of frustration.

If you own a Sprint razr v3m and your MPT worked but no longer does. This is what I finally did to fix the problem was uninstall MPT including going to my computer then double click on your C drive then open windows and remove any trace of motorola. Also goto add and remove programs and remove any motorola updates. Also from clicking on the c drive open program files and also remove any motorola files. then start from scratch and make sure you reinstall the updates when it asks you to. there should be 4 checked. If you have dial up plan to spend a lot of time online doing this. It should work again
