Motorola Phone Tools doesn't work with RAZR V3m?

Im running through that again right now. I just finished re-installing MPT and MSU

 

/sigh. It figures that it would work now:loony: Sorry for the inconvenience. Better late then never I guess. I would always try install the phone and what-not before running MSU and letting it auto-detect my phone. It would always come up with the "Found New Hardware Wizard" and then tell me that the USB device wasn't working correctly. I guess all I have to do now is sync with windows media player so I can get music onto my phone.

Seems that I can't edit more then once so I have to re-post:/

Everything was working fine but now when I go into Multimedia Studio
and go to melodies and click the "My Phone" tab it is unable to communicate
with my phone. I can sync with my contacts but I can't see my pictures or ringers anymore.

My hard drive died on my computer and I had previously had no problems using my sprint v3m with MPT. I was using win 2k. Now I have XP and cannot get MPT or Bitpim to work with my Razr...so I resorted to my old standby software which i had for my old V180. I went to the company's site and sure enough they make a driver and software for the sprint v3m, so with my phone connected I downloaded the newest driver version, then dowloaded the handset manager that goes with it and voila my V3m now works. This program is great and free and has all the features of MPT I think, you just have to spend a bit of time learning it, but it's great. Makes mp3 ringtones, etc. It's 3AM now and I'm going to bed...just spent the last 5 hours trying to get MPT to work...now I can sleep peacefully. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place but it seems like there are so many people who are having trouble with MPT I just thought they might like to try this and elleviate some frustration.

BTW, thanks for all the suggestions as to how to get MPT working with the v3m. I just wish it had worked. The only capability I wish this MobileAction program had was charging the phone through USB...oh well just have to use the traditional charger. Maybe someone can figure out how to do it.

 

Actually I discovered that it DOES charge

 

When I run and install MSU I get a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error. How do I get this to work??

Hello, it seems that I'm having a problem getting to the point that everyone else is at. I have a V3c with Verizon and when I connect my phone to the computer it is found as motorola usb modem but when i open MSU it doesnt find the phone/says not connected so I cant run the other program. Any suggestions?

**EDIT** I can open up BitPim and it finds my phone and all the data from it but I cant figure out how to put the ringers on it. It goes through the process and says they are on the phone but i cant find them anywhere on it. MPT also will occasionally find my phone and let me open the multimedia studio, but then i can't transfer anything. Im very confused. I wish verizon would just let me email them like i used to without having them in crappy .qcp

 

hey all. seems same issue here. us cellular moto razr v3m. that the mpt wont find when connecting with a transflash card. the pc will see the phone as a removable drive. and i can actually add files that way. but this is rather annoying. seeing as there sw was 40 bucks and basically wont work as it ought to. also with the sd card the phone wont charge via the usb. remove sd and works like a charm. card was formated after placing in the phone.

Can someone point me to the right area. I'm getting this error ever since upgrading to MPT ver 4.5.1c. It won't let you backup your phonebook. Has anyone else seen this?"Your phone has reported that it cannot synchronize now. If you are performing an”over the air” sync or backup please complete this first and then try again".
I had to uninstalled this latest upgrade and re-install from my CD to the older verision.

 

Hello all - Cincyball (bestower of wondrous knowledge)

I just got a silver RAZR V3m from Alltel and I already have a copy of MPT and a USB cable from my digital camera. MPT can recognize my phone but not what type - when I try to manually install the drivers from the list (CDMA etc.) I do not find V3m as a selectable option - I see RAZR V3xx, V3x, V3cm etc.

I fooled around with selecting a few models and the "Initializing" phone gui pops up but never "initializes" - all options are grayed out. Wrong driver selection apparently? I do not know. I ran live install to the point that it says the program is up to date - 4.5 I think?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Sorry for the double post but I just wanted to say that the problem I was having has been resolved. For my Alltel RAZR V3m I needed to select from the maual setup in MPT - CDMA/V3cm and it worked fine.

 

I did the 2 seem edits and the multimedia function works great, thanks Cincy, but now MPT won't recognize my contacts or calender. Any ideas?

 

I'm having the same problem, hopinpop. Since upgrading to the latest version synchronization will not work. I'm going to uninstall and reinstall, and only update to the previous version that worked. This is the second time an MPT update caused it to not work properly. I think I'll skip the next upgrade.

On a happy note I am now multimedia enabled, with huge thanks to Cincyball for the great instructions!

 

You cant just install phone tools and be done you have to install the drivers go to Hack the Razr! and in the start here guide or just go under downloads, install and run the driver installer (it auto starts on clean mode but when thats done choose clean and reinstall press start and exit when done) you may have to do that twice

 

Hello Cincyball. First...thanks for the RAZR V3m instructions. My question is, do you use the same seem edits to get the Multimedia Studio to work for a Moto W315? Our service provider is a little no-name cdma outfit that's never listed, if that matters.

So, rytard...can you, like, make my W315 work with MPT and stuff? Everythings working except the Multimedia Studio...the only feature probably 99% of the folks install MPT for in the first place....jeeez.:O

I too was having this same problem...and I uninstalled MPT and reinstalled it with the updates. After doing so, I have not had any problems.

 

Ok, I got to this point in editing, but I couldnt figure it out. There should of been numbers that showed up, but the only way I could make them show up was to load the file I saved, then I didnt have to scroll down cause the number 000060 was at the top. I also couldnt offset them. Can anyone help me? Either from the beginning or from here?

 

I just came across this information on the Motorola site.

System Requirements: Windows® 2000, XP (not compatible with XP Media Center)

Is there a work around for this? I have a V3m through Sprint and I'm running XP Media Center. I haven't been able to find any threads so far dealing with MPT on XP Media Center. Anyone else in the same boat? Am I SOOL?

OK, following the instructions in this thread I have installed the drivers, updated using the MSU and edited the seems successfully. (Thank You so much for all the helpers here). I installed Motorola phone tools and it updated to version 4.5.1c. It starts up and initiallizes and and connects to the phone.

Now the problem. When I try to sync my phone list or calendar, I get the message 'Your phone has reported that it cannot synchronize now. If you are performing an "Over the air" sync or backup please complete this first and then try again.'

Has anyone else seen this ? Any one have any ideas on how to solve this ?

 

yea i got all the software i need and its working pretty good but in the program p2kseem there is no bytes(h) selection for me to put anything into can u help me out i really need some and when i select the oo6a function there is no txt next to the boxes what is wrong
