    ok - i'm at post 32 re: motorola phone tools doesn't work with rar v3m.

    What I find out is I don't think i'm downloading all of the p2k seem edit. it ends up in an excel file - i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I was at step #32 where u should see:
    Motorola USB Device
    ->Accessories Interface
    ->Data Logging MCU Interface
    ->Test command Interface.

    Then you say to proceed to install and run p2kseem. I must not have downloaded it right - i can't seem (no pun intended) to find it or just have this excel file. can you help???

    Thanks for your help but - I still can't get it to run. I've unzipped it and tried to run the p2k seem with no luck. How frustrating. I know i'm not a computer genius, i know very little. all i really want to do is get the buffy the vampire slayer theme into my phone to use as a ringtone! i've spent hours on this with no luck. i have the music in mp3 format - i can even get the phone to sync with wmp. But when i go to look for my music it says it deleted it from the library - that i have no music - that's a heck of a note.
    oh well, i'm going to keep trying - i don't have a computer at home so i'm trying to fit this in in between projects at work. thanks for all your help - any suggestions - please send my way!!! thanks again

    Cincyball,

    What kind of problems where you having with the later versions? I've recently been unable to get back P2Kcommander to work. Maybe I inadvertently upgraded to a later version.

    Thanks.

Could anyone spare the time to got through step by step and tell me what drivers/ files/ seems. I mean step by step from plugging in the dang thing. I am still new to this whole edit stuff too. It would be greatly appreciated. I want to get the most out of my phone. :help: :)

    Fish,

    Welcome to WA. What u are asking is basically what this entire thread is about. The first two pages is where I literally walked a guy thru step by step so that others could read and follow along.

    However, I am unsure of what you need more help with. I will be happy to help, but I need to know exactly what it is you are hoping to accomplish with your phone.

    Are u trying to get music? Ringtones? pictures? etc...

    i would use bitpim to transfer files, below is a .zip file with the bitpim installer. u need to have the phone appear as a usb modem though. once it does, bitpim is fairly easy to use and you do not need to flash

    Hello Cincy

    I have read through most of this thread it has been very helpful in many ways, but i'm still having some problems. I hope you can help, i would like to get my own ringtones, sync with wmp 11, and use MPT stuff like that.

    I have us cellular v3m razr.

    I can connect my phone to my laptop via usb cable:

    1. phone is recognized as modem and does charge
    2. I can and have done some seem edits using PST 7.2.5 and p2kseem
    (I did not need to complete the seem edit for usb file transfer and blue tooth it was already done)
    3. I have completed seem edit for v3mM sucessfully.

    Problems:

    Motorola Phone Tools v4 does not recognize my phone, however when MPT asks to config manually my phone does appear in the list as usb modem but the set-up closes shortly after I select it.

    I cannot get my phone to sync with windows media player 11

    I have read a few things about us cellular using brew, however I don't think that should affect me being able to make my own ringtones.

    If there is a solution please let me know, I would really appreciate it

    Thank you

    Dusty,

    You are correct regarding the seem edits. You do not have to do any. That is mainly for Verizon. USCC and Alltel are similar in the fact they do not block your phone. So right out of the box, your phone will work AND auto-detect in MPT....BUT, your MOT must be UPDATED to at least version 4.21a, and I would recommend version 4.36 (newest). Once u update MPT, create a new profile and it will/should auto detect your phone, and then show the MultiMedia icon where u can transfer pics/ringtones.

    As for WMP10 or 11, your phone cannot do that. That is a Verizon feature that WMP will sync with the Verizon razr's media player. The USCC/Alltel razrs do not have a media player. You can add music AND ringtones right into the same folder. However, I recommend adding ringtones to the PHONE's audio folder. And add MUSIC to the MEMORY CARD audio folder. RIngers must be on phones memory to be applied as ringtones. Also, they only need to be 30 seconds long or less. Music is obviosuly about 4 minutes long, so put them on the memory card since they take up so much space.

    Hope this has helped. Good luck!

    Hi! I was looking for help with MPT using a Verizon Razr and found this thread. I went through the steps listed, and I do have multimedia studio now. Thanks for posting all that! However, I still can't sync anything. When I go to the synchronization wizard, the software crashes. It doesn't seem to close the whole MPT program, just the sync wizard.

    Do you think something on the phone is still locked, or it's a problem with the desktop software?

    Which version of Motorola Phone Tools are you running? You need to have at least 4.21a or 4.36. Also, did you do BOTH seem edits? It sounds like you changed the phone to v3mM, but did u do the USB data transfer edit as well?

    I'm on 4.36. I did both seem edits, and the multimedia studio works great. I was able to transfer songs to my Razr, just not my contacts.

    I can click on the Synchronization link on the right, and it opens the synchronization screen. I click on the Synchronization wizard link and it opens the wizard, starts initializing, and then comes up with the Microsoft "This program had to close unexpectedly, do you want to send a report" window. MPT stays open after that, I can click on the Synchronization link, the Synchronization window opens, but none of the links work. I have to close and restart the software.

    I have been messing with my new v3m for the better part of a week. I did the seem edits that made it a v3mM, (the usb transfer box was checked on the 2742 seem edit so I left it alone). I started motorola phone tools and it just says initializing please wait and does nothing else. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Try creating a new profile in MPT. If u had tried connecting your phone originally before doing any seem edits...then mpt is still looking for your phone from BEFORE the edits, thus not recognizing what u did to enable and make it connect. Just out of curiosity, which phone do you have? Sprint? That would be my guess if the usb cable box was already checked, but the v3mm wasnt. If that is the case, you need to make sure MPT is updated to version 4.36 and that your phone software is updated to the newest software as well.

    Speaking of profiles, do I need a separate profile for each of my two V3Ms when I use MPT? I wondered about this when I was doing the seem-thing to them.

    If they are BOTH seem edited to usb data transfer ON, and v3mm, then u can use the same profile. But if u have one that is a v3m, and one that is a v3mm, then u need separate prfiles b/c TECHNICALLY, they would be different phones according to MPT.

    I tried to reinstall the MPT and now all of the motorola stuff from the device manager is gone. I have about a hundred drivers and now I cant get it back how it was. Should I reinstall or just try to get the drivers right again?
