i ordered it online from sprint.com and got it in the mail...maybe i should send it back and just download the version online? how did your friend get his?
i just called motorola and told them what was going on and they gave me a link to go to that should fix the problem, but the site is down right now so i guess i will just have to wait. But they said there must have been something wrong w/my cd.
*****Make SURE you choose the V3mm as your phone (Sprint Users-V3m) for your USB connection to MFT. *You will need to MANUALLY add your phone>>>Motorola Software will not find the V3m automatically anyway. **Choose..."CDMA"...."V3mm". That way you get the MULTI MEDIA STUDIO reenabled ***** I can UPLOAD or DOWNLOAD pics to phone (and to the mmc storage card) I was able to send a ringtone (will not show up in ringtone files) but when you choose to add a ringtone to an option IT'S IN THAT LIST. Make sure you UPDATE your version of MFT. I havent messed with the ringtones option, only added 1 sofar (was allready in list of optional ringtones MFT) I have loaded many-many pics though......some of them animated.
Maybe my ringtone wasn't sent to correct folder (has those options) Just a NEWBIE here. But it does work......................................F-Sprint
What is funny is I was successfully able to have MPT AUTOMATICALLY DETECT the Sprint V3M. 1. Do not connect phone yet. 2. Install MPT and update to 4.36 3. Install MSU, open it and let it update 4. Make sure your phone software is updated 5. Open MSU, and NOW connect your phone 6. It will install it is a v3m/l7/... etc 7. Once MSU finds your phone and installs the MCU, etc and then displays your ESN, close the program and disconnect the phone 8. Open MPT, create new profile 9. MPT will now automatically detect your phone and have MultiMedia icon showing.
I want to be able to flash my v3m with multiflashflex and try to get java on verizon v3m. i currently have alltel v3m which is something like (ncr.01.1a). i have got everything working fine (mms, brew) but whenever i open pst it asks for motorola accesory and mcu data logging interface and i do not know how to install those so could somebody post a link for installing them! Thanx
fftopic: This is the Motorola Phone Tools thread...direct it to the Alltel v3m firmware thread please However, I will tell u that u wont get java on ur v3m
If you have previously installed the Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) your drivers will self install as the V3m....so you will need to uninstall the earlier version and and then install it again, also run the update. *I'm not sure why other guy had his phone properly detected, my MPT before and after the update could NOT find my phone model (Sprint V3m) So I chose from the list CDMA (sprint protocol) V3mm as my phone model. Remember........if you installed before-remove the software, and reinstall. I have installed 2 of the DEMO ringtones included in the Motorola software. I have not tryed to compose yet (sure it will work though) Please update me if anyone else installs there MPT software (first time) - (or after removal and reinstall) and it automatically finds your phone as the V3m?? Because mine would not find from the start or after reinstall. BUT will find if I have a problem and run the connection wizard-if I still have the original drivers still on hardrive (it will now find my phone as the V3mm since this is what I manually configured) ALL INFO IS FOR THE SPRINT V3m ONLY.
I can GUARENTEE it will AUTO-DETECT the SPRINT V3M Did you see my response to your original post??? -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/439740-post637.html Follow those 9 steps I detailed, and u will be able to auto-detect it. I have repeated the process successfully on 3 Sprint v3ms now...
I don't need it to auto-detect. I was able to lie to the Motorola software and tell it that I have installed a V3mm (works the same) ALL options are enabled. Yes I did read your previous post....but I don't know of the other software that you mentioned, needs to be installed. I am not PC savy......but my route worked out fine. I just completed a Beavis and Butthead added ringtone to my V3m here at work (slow day-sooooo brought the laptop) Yes, to verify that user made ringtones can be used. And my V3m from Sprint will not Auto-Detect (without adding other software-besides MPT) so I was wondering if OTHERS were getting auto-detect before jacking with the software. Simple. If not auto-detect.......just PICK V3mm manually. Does the same thing-and your phone is not a warrenty issue (if your mentioned add-on software changes the Sprint Block on the internal phone software) Have fun with the Razr
1) Don't connect phone until instructed to. 2) install MPT software. 3) Update the software you just installed-link will be on the MENU option of the popup, browse down to SETUP, choose UPDATE. 4) After UPDATE is installed, choose MENU-SETUP-Connect a differant phone, When instructed connect data cable to phone and PC. 5) The software will not auto-detect your phone. 6) HERE you will choose to pick phone manually (do not choose to search online) Pick from the list......CDMA (sprint phones only) V3mm (is bottom 2/3rd of list) You will now have ALL options....the Multimedia option is included. *If you allready have your phone connected before as the V3m, you must REMOVE your earlier version and reinstall.
The V3m is REALLY a V3mm anyway. Sprint Just removed one of the "m's" in the software code......that is why MPT cannot Auto-Detect the Phone :browani:
Yes, but Verizon does that too. We can do a seem edit to ADD the missing "m". But what I keep saying is, MPT CANNNN auto-detect the sprint v3m as a v3mm with the CORRECT drivers...which are attained when installing MSU -> http://hacktherazr.com/app/hacktherazr.com--MSU.exe
Cincyball.... your an amazing person... I've gone through just about the entire thread... Got my phone changed to V3mM... copied images from my phone... BUT All I really wanted to do is get my txt msg off the phone and saved to a txt file. for some reason my phone keeps disconnecting while retrieving the messages... then I have to restart MPT before I get a good connection again. I also get an error sometimes in the Multimedia Studio that says "The communication link has been broken by phone." Any help will be very much appreciated :O I've been trying to get these messages off this phone for months now
Thanks for the kind words. The error message about the "The communication link has been broken by phone" typically means that you missed a seem edit. I see you said you did the V3mm edit. Did you also do the edit to allow USB data transfer? Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0000, Offset 006a, Bit 0 - Check to ON. If that is not done, u will get that error. Let me know if that helps. As for text messages...you are in luck. In MPT, with the phone connected and the phone image showing in the right corner, click the Center Button (Menu). Menu>>Receive>>Inbox. When it opens up the box, click send/receive. It will then read your inbox messages. You can then select the messages and right click and save. You can then save them where you would liek and view them with NotePad. Same goes for the Outbox (sent) messages. Let me know if you have any problems with this.
I have done: Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0000, Offset 006a, Bit 0 - Check to ON Im pretty sure it worked because I've copied all my pictures from my phone. I've also tried copying the messages that way tons of times... It starts, the metronome is doing its little animation and then after about 15/20 seconds the box just disappears and I never get any messages. I hope that the problem isn't with my computer... I could try to do this on a different machine... That could very well be it if you've never heard of this problem... Ill have to find another machine to try this with. Thanks again.
What version of MPT are you running? 4.21a or 4.36? So when u click send/receive, it just sits there then errors out?
Yes, I agree that you know what you are talking about (not trying to give you a hard time) What does this MSU do? Is it just a Patch for the MPT or does it add something to the cell phone software? If it adds something to the cell software then this would need to be removed for any warrenty repair or replacements (if you are able to retrieve the software) Is there any benefit to doing this edit MSU, as to just manually picking your phone model as the V3mm as I have done? Everything working-Sprint V3m-Manual Driver V3mm in MPT/Windows XP Pro service pack 2/Compaq Evo N620c-Razr V3m as modem *Sprint
MSU is a program that does nothing to your phone. It just installs the necessary DRIVERS so your phone is auto-detected by MPT. It is a separate program from MPT. I attached a link to the program. It changes nothing on the phone whatsoever. Your phone is still legititmate in terms of being stock.
the ones from hacktherazr.com but in the device manager the driver is called "SyncCell USB Modem" I've tried uninstalling this and reinstalling the one from hacktherazr.com and also plugging the usb cable into a different port. it always shows up as "SyncCell USB Modem"... I still had the same problem though before I even got this driver. it was like "Motorola USB Modem #2" or something. Later on today I may get a chance to try this on a different machine.
It should and NEEDS to be in as USB Motorola Modem. Try running the drivertool I have attached. Have the phone plugged in when doing so.
yeah it still shows up as SyncCell Ok now I've installed "Motorola USB Modem" I just didn't let it search for the driver. Then it showed me both SyncCell and Motorola. BUT It still dosn't work.
Cincyball: Got my wife a new Razr V3m and she wanted me to put "Music Box Dancer" by Frank Mills on her phone for her ringtone and I had no idea as to how to get this accomplishied, then I found your instructions from page one of the fourm and followed it to the letter and it worked like a champ and I just want to say a big "THANK YOU"!!
