Not that it was wrong, just the link was broken. But have fun, and enjoy your soon to be "unlocked" v3m ;)

I have a similar problem i believe as some of the posters in here. I have a razr v3m phone through verizon. I bought the software which supposedly loaded the motorola drivers as well as the other software. Well my pc will still not recognize the phone. It just says found new MTP hardware and the found new hardware wizard comes up. But then it can't find the driver to install it and recognize it. What do I do next? Verizon was useless I spent two hours on the phone with them and they had me uninstall and reinstall the software then they had me check the driver manager and it lists a MTP under other devices or portable devices but that's it. No driver listed for it. What happened to the driver's I downloaded with the software???? Well if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Thanks alot

This thread is for Motorola Phone Tools (MPT). Your question is regarding Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). Similar name, but very different programs/drivers. Try reading through this -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/59219-getting-your-v3c-m-connected.html More specifically, the MTPFIX.exe file. However, you need to get your phone connected and charging via usb cable first. Also, make sure you are using a usb port on the BACK of your computer. The front ports will give more problems than not. But point your questions regarding syncing your phone in that thread I linked you to.

By the way, what part of RI are you from? My family is from Foster.

Thank you for the help. I'm going to try to see if this works now. Verizon couldn't figure it out for me. I'm in Warwick myself. Foster huh that's where they usually get the most snow.

Thanks again

Cincyball.

I have installed and opened P2K & MSU. I have typed 2742 in seem, 1 in record, 0000 in bytes and loaded from the phone. I have the screen up but do not understand your instructions to “enable USB file transfer”. How do I enable file transfer? When I go to line 000060 there is no offset 006a. I have
“000060 cb 37 87 99 7a e4 8f fb el 01 ez 00 00 ba c5 4f”

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your assistance. I am almost there, I think?

Yes, u are verrrry close. You need to click anywhere in that row. When u do, if u look just above where all of the bit boxes are, u will see it say something like Offset 0060, 0064, 0068, etc depending where u click. Just keep going across that row til u see 006a (which is one place to the right of 0069).

OK. I finished step 1 & 2 and started Phone Tools and I do not have the multimedia icon. I hear nothing on the phone. It will make a call, but no audio. Should I restore the saved files?

Correct that,..... the headset was on. However still not Multimedia Icon.

When I view my Phone information in Phone Tools, I get “Motorola CE, Copyright 2000 – V3M (NewC_01.09.02” Does that help?

Make sure your MPT is updated to at least 4.21a or 4.36c

EDIT: what are u intending to do with MPT. I am very confused by what u posted about hearing nothing on the phone...it will make a call but no audio? I think you are mis-uderstanding what the program actually does.

I am on here and check in every 10 minutes or so. When the program is open, go into the menu button and click software version or something liek that and see what verion your MPT is.

Cincyball, I totally agree with all of the others that say “YOU ARE DA MAN!”.

After I put my brains back in my head, I finally realized that I was looking in the wrong location for the Offset Settings. For other readers, look in the lower left corner of the screen. Once I figured that out, the rest was easy. It took 10 min. to complete.

Thanks to you, I am now an official member in the “Verizon RAZR V3mM Multimedia Club”. Downloading pictures, songs, editing ringtones, movies, and all of the GOOD STUFF.

Thanks again,

Cincyball,

Question? When I did seem:2827,record:1, bytes22 and loaded it from phone, I accidentally changed the Offset 004 from bits 0,2,3,5,6 to bits 0,2,3,6. That changed the V.3.m.M …………… to V.3.M.M. Changing the first “m” into a capitol “M”. What does that do? Does it make a difference?

I dont think it matters since I have never done that. But if you dont see any problems with MPT, etc, I guess u could leave it. If something seems out of line, then I would just go back in and click on the "M" and type a lower case "m", or just put the correct bits in, either way.

I wanted to ask one quick question and if there is a solution please point me in the right direction. I have a Sprint Razr V3m now its a great phone compared to the phone I had before, but back when everyone else had this phone they were able to transfer ringtones or data to each other via bluetooth. Now Im guessing its Sprint's evil doing but I cant send stuff via bluetooth to another phone, is there anyway to hack this, sorry Im a noob at hacking phones but im not stupid at computers. Thats probably the only problem because I can send things from my comp to my phone or recieve/give (not send) ringtones to a select few that can find my phone. Thanks in advance.

Its not your noob-ness preventing you from doing it. The Sprint v3m only has OBEX (object exchange protocol) which is phone <--> computer only. It is missing the bluetooth protocol called OPP (object PUSH protocol) which allows phone <--> phone transfer. In this case, BOTH phones would need OPP to share files. Unfortunately, there is no hack to add this. Im sure u have seen references for Verizon customer (like myself) who have flashed to Alltel firmware. The verizon firmware doesnt have it like sprint, so we flash to alltel which DOES have both. As for now, there is no way to flash a Sprint phone to another firmware...but in time, things may change. That phone is still fairly new, one of the more recent razr's out, so give it time and who knows.

Thank you for the help. I will try a DIFFERENT USB port here in a few. I know my PC gets a bit crazy when it comes to what is plugged into what usb port. My phone will only work in two of the six USB ports. Crazy huh? I will try a different port. My question to anyone who might know. When I plug my phone in to sync with WMP11, (If the "found new hardware" install window) pops up. Do I install my MPT 4.0 software disc? Because when I've tried before, It just states- "Can't find software" So I just assume thats wrong? Thx, Geoff:D

ah ok but I do want to add something to that, there is only one phone I know that can connect to my Razr - its a Samsung something, fairly new slide phone. What it does is find my phone then able to go into my folders and choose the ringtone then make a copy of it itself into his phone as if I was sending it to him. Also I found out a little error that I'd also like help with, any ringtone with ' in it, I'm unable to delete. For example I have the song "Somebody's Watching Me" as a ring tone then an error happens when I try to delete it, something about file missing and then the file in the flash is changed to Somebody's Watching Me.mp3. BTW so you cant use SEEM to unlock the phone and give it OPP? If not thanks anyway, all i really wanted to do was to make some ringtones to save money and if any buddies wanted some too, which in this case they do.

Thank you for all this information. It's been very helpful, but I do have a question. Everything went well with my phone until I clicked "restart phone"... it never re-connected as you state it should. I waited a while, and XP said something like a "USB device has malfunctioned". Eventually I closed out of P2Kseem and tried reconnecting the phone. After a few times reconnecting the phone it was recognized as USB Modem, and MPT recognized it correctly with the Multimedia icon etc. Did I do something wrong that it didn't re-connect? The phone appears to work correctly, but I need to do my wife's phone, and I want to be sure I know what I'm doing before I do hers. If I screw hers up I'll be in trouble!

Thanks!

Yea, your phone since it has OBEX will allow a phone with bluetooth like the Samsung to do what it does. The Samsung is doing the extracting. You wouldnt be able to send, but u know that. Im not sure what bluetooth profile that one is called, but my cousin from France has a Samsung he bought in Europe and it can do that with my phone which HAS opp. However, I cannot browse thru his phone files. SO it is something besides OBEX and OPP.

As for deleting the file, mine delete fine with special characters. Are u trying to delete via the phone? Or thru a program? And as for seem editing to enable OPP or anything, it isnt possible. Thats why people have to flash. It required quite an extreme hack...

Im not sure why your phone did that. Are u sure u let it sit long enough to restart? It should have taken place in about 10-15 seconds at most. I wouldnt worry about it next time. But if it makes u feel safer, once u have Saved To Phone the seem edits, just close the programs, unplug the phone, and restart it by powering down and back up liek normal. But everything should be fine either way. And as long as the Multimedia showed up, your phone is fine.

Erm its done right off the bluetooth itself, like I mentioned before only wanted this phone for personalization and well I also bought a Targus bluetooth adapter class 1 I think. All I do is use Goldwave to edit then save as its original .mp3 format, copy and paste into the audio folder on the phone. Simple Enough :) and thats about it ... ill add an attachment or something to show you what I mean but not now later

I let it sit for a few minutes after hitting restart. Looking into it a little further though, I think I closed the MSU software after it did it's thing, and then did the seem edit. I understand I shouldn't have done that. So next time I'll make sure to leave that running until I'm finished.

Thanks

Dem,

Yea, I get strange errors sometimes when deleting via bluetooth OBEX from my phones audio folder. In this case, I usually go into the phone and delete it by hand. And if that doesnt work, try removing the pairing with bluetooth, restart the phone, and pair it again and try that. For some reason, special characters dont get treated equally.

You dont have to wait long, MPT does work with the Sprint V3m. You just need to have MPT updated to its newest version, which is 4.36c. And your phone software needs to be updated to version .42 or something like that

Hey Cincy,

Did anyone find a method of deleting stock ringtones? I can get into my V3mM with MPT, and I have done all my seem edits. I just wanna delete those ringtones and possibly pictures that come stock with it.

Thanks in advance and I hope you still have and ear open. :)
