    Cincyball,

It's apparently gone! (Just when I had all the tools and was ready to start!) Do you know if there's a mirror somewhere, or if it's moved?

    Thanks.

I had my phone connected to mtp and syncing music from wmp and then I tried to get my music studio to work by doing a seem, changing v3c to v3mm and I backed up my original and started with the first steps and nothing happened, now my phone will not connect to mtp, it says no transmission and I get no respone from the p2k seem editor, says no connection.
what else can I do, I tried to reinstall my back up but it wont let me connect.

You tried to change it from v3c to v3mm??? That would be the problem, you need to change it to v3cm. When in seem 2827, it will show v3c, all u need to do is check bits 0,2,3,6 to turn ur phone to v3cm. Try reinstalling the drivers. You need to get i cnnected before u can do anything.

Well, once I removed my TransFlash card, the MCE system worked great, and the seems went as planned. My laptop however still BSOD's when attempting to launch MPT.

    Cincy,

You're bound to be sorry that you gave me the opportunity to ask more questions! Going to the cached link, I'm immediately referred to another document, by Mark venture, which has probably superseded the prior one. Reading this document I discover that, where I once thought I had all my tools ready to go, I now find I'm missing something called RadioComm. I was able to find the appropriate version of Radiocomm, but the install seems to fail due to, what it says is, a lack of Microsoftnet Net Framework. Since Net Framework 2.0 IS installed, I'm at a loss as to why Radiocomm will not install.

Further reading through Mark's procedure leads me to believe that perhaps I need to know where to stop with some of these modifications. Allow me to explain. My contract with Verizon includes nothing but telephone service, and that is limited to 450 minutes/month. I didn't buy any data services or the V-cast options, or anything else they may have wanted to sell me.

In addition to the multimedia services, and I guess just a plain desire to have the Motorola Razr operate as it was designed to, I think it would be beneficial to me if I was able to use the device as a modem those situations where I don't have any broadband opportunity. I wouldn't want to pay anything additional for this service, other than the usage of the minutes. I also think it might be neat to have some form of Web access, although what's discussed in the documentation is something I've yet to fully understand. Again, I don't need this to the extent that I'd be willing to pay anything additional for it other than the monthly minutes.

It all may be somewhat moot anyway since I apparently can't get radio calm to install, but any explanatory light you can shed on my other thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your time.

I suggest following the first link u were looking at, which was http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Monster1.htm

I have tried doing the flash with using RadioComm, and it didnt work for me as well as without it. The one u are referring to is listed as Monster2.htm

So with that said, use the link I have supplied in this post.

As for what Mark includes on his site, it is just disclaimers. Flashing will not introduce any charges, or additions to your plan, etc. Your phone will act exactly as it did, but it will just look like a normal Motorola Razr, rather than Verizons concoction.

You can use the phone as a dial-up modem no matter what firmware you are running, but that can all be set up/worried about/discussed for another time as it has zero relevance to flashing.

If you have any concerns I havent addressed, please quote from him, and I will be happy to explain further.

And while we are on this, Im going to suggest we forward this into the http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/59804-alltel-v3m-firmare-released-ncr_01-1a.html thread, since this is "technically" an MPT thread :) It is easy to get off topic.

I dont normally do this, but I just read through all 11 pages looking for a how-to get ringtones on my GF's Pink RAZR. Just wanted to say Thanks 110% to Cincy... I followed the what to download/how to edit the SEEM (which I have NO IDEA what a SEEM is) to a T and it worked flawlessly. Once again MUCH appreciation to cincy...

BTW Im just going to stick to my Treo700wx :) WAYYY Easier to put ringtones on that bad boy.

Does the process that starts the thread work on KRZR's? Does anyone know? Didn't see a similar forum for them.
    TIA

Not sure if this is who I helped on AIM, but make sure your phone software is up to 24.2_00.43.00R , make sure MPT is fully updated to 4.36c. Do not have any seem edits done (if u attempted some described in this thread, undo them since they are for verizon phones only). If you are set to here, and it still doesnt work, create a NEW profile in MPT so it will find your phone and it should then show the multimedia studio.

I have the current version 24.2_00.43.00R for the phone, and version 4.4 for MPT. It seems that it starts to recognize the phone via USB cable, but then errors out and cannot detect the phone.

There is no version 4.4, this leads me to believe your mpt may not be correct... WHen the phone image shows up, click the center button and look for the version u are at and post back. Also, u dont have any other programs open while trying to use mpt do u?

I currently own a KRZR K1m and I thoguht that it would work with the Multimedia function on MPT but it didn't. I tried fxing it using the V3m since on the Mark CMDA forum thingy it said a lot of the V3m things fit the KRZR but that doesnt work. So can anybody help me fix this.(I made a search in every fourm[motorola, verizon,HERE!] that had to do with the KRZR) :)

Those who are having trouble with MPT detecting phone, if you connect the usb cable to the usb port on the back of your computer it works fine. I tried this and MPT recognized my V3M.

Hey, this is a good one for you guys, I have a Sprint RAZR V3m.

I installed MPT, updated to 4.36 and all was well until I tried to sync some contacts from my Outlook to the phone. The phone looked like it was accepting them and then an error asking me if I wanted to "Retry" popped up. Retrying would do nothing different but if I ignored the error and just refreshed the phone's contacts, I would see everything that I copied over. Now for the interesting bit: If I disconnect my phone and go into Contacts, I am able to go through them without a problem. The minute that I git the "End" or "Back" keys, my phone will briefly lock up, cycle power, and I'm back to the home screen. I've cleared the phone, even reset back to PRI settings, all to no avail. Called Sprint, they had to do an exchange on the phone. It gets better: I did this on the second phone which seemed to have had slightly more updated firmware that ran a bit faster and all was well until, in my infinite wisdom, I tried to copy contacts. Now I cannot even make new entries on the phone via the phone, i.e. save something from a call log. On another note, the first phone, after updating the MPT to the latest, did not show Multimedia Studio. The second phone is fine from the start. The plot thickens: I just updated the firmware on the phone to 24.2_00.43.00R and now my PC (WinXP Pro SP2) no longer finds the Motorola USB modem.

OK, I know that's quite a bit but any ideas on what the devil is going on?

    Thank you all, in advance!

    Cincy,

I just wanted to know if your instructions apply to the Verizon RAZR V3c. I wanted to check with you before I took a stab at it. I tired to download the MSU from the website you provided but I received an error (screen shot is attached). The P2K Seem downloaded with no problem, but I don't know how to continue without the MSU. I have MPT installed and updated, but the Multemedia Studio Icon is not there like it is on my Cingular phone.

    Thanks!

Jason, first of all, welcome to WA.

Yes, this process DOES apply to the v3c. The ONLY thing different is, when u see my refer to the v3m, just pretend I typed v3c. You will be turning your phone into a v3cm...the ONLY difference between the phones is that the m has a memory card, where yours does not. All the hacks, processes, programs, etc are the same.

As for your problem with MSU, I would say try again... I just tried it, and it worked. My brother downloaded it last night okay. http://www.hacktherazr.com/downloads.html Perhaps it just didnt load properly. Let me know if you still cant get it working, and I will try and find an alternate link to download it.

EDIT: Ok, I see what u prolly did. I clicked on the actual ICON to the LEFT and it worked. Then I tried clicking the DOWNLOAD hyperlink on the right side, and got the same error as you. So click the MSU ICON on the left side, and all should be well.

First of all, thanks for the warm welcome. Secondly, I was able to download the MSU by clicking on the link to the left. I will try the actual process tomorrow because my boss left for the day. Its actually his phone because I have the Cingular V3 and I never had to do any of this. Before I start I will notify you just incase I need some assistance during the actual process. I hope that will be okay.

    Thanks
    Jason

    Cincy,

I went through the steps as you said and seemed like everything went fine. But when I start up MPT, the Multimedia Studio Icon is still not present. Now it also says the phone has been detected, but cannot be identified. Do you know what that is all about?

Is your MPT up to date? It needs to be at at least version 4.21a or even better, 4.36. If it is, and u had created a profile BEFORE doing the edits, try creating a new profile, then picking usb cable, and then connect the phone.

I am not sure how to check that but I updated MPT to the fullest and that is why I assumed that I have the latest verison. I tried to create a new profile but it will not recognize the phone as a modem anymore (well it does recognize it because it is still charging but it says it can't identify it). I have an attachment with error it gets when it trys to detect the device.

Yea, it really appears that is a prompt from an older version of MPT, but I could be wrong. Try opening MPT with no phone connected. When it displays the phone image in the lower right corner, clikc the center button. It will bring up a menu, and look for something like software version, update, etc, and see if it gives u any info. When you have done the two seem edits, updated MPT, and have the phone charging normally when plugged in to the usb port, MPT will auto-detect the phone as a v3cm. This doesnt appear to be happening. My other thought is, make sure you are using a usb port on the backside of the laptop that is built in. Dont use a usb port that is on an adapter card.
