    Cincy,

Understood! Thanks. The Howard Forums' wiki on flashing the V3Cm contains a list of "cons". Since you've already done the flashing, do you believe that these ALSO apply to the V3M, and do you know if there's a "Cincyball-type" step-by-step procedure available for the V3M that us dummies can use? As an aside, I'm having difficulty locating "Motorola Phone Support Tools". Have you any clues as to where I should be looking?

    Thanks.

That is the guide you should follow

As for what you are looking for, try googling for PST 7.25

Nobody refers to it as Motorola Phone Support Tools.

    Hello Cincyball -

I have a Sprint v3m. I updated MPT to 4.36 and when it finally saw my phone and initialized all the icons were present, including Multimedia Studio. This was, of course, without doing any SEEM edits (which I was prepared to do). Oh well...

I converted a wav ringer to an mp3 (192k bit rate) and opened MM Studio. I then went into File Tranfer Studio. It saw my phone's folders so I selected "Audio" and sent my mp3 to the phone. I disconnected the phone and navigated to Ringer Type - Voice Calls (W/caller ID). I see the ringer I downloaded (file size 68k) but when I select "Listen" it will NOT play. The timeline in the playback window starts and ends with "00:00" as if nothing's there. What did I do wrong???

Also, MPT only saw my phone's contents (and allowed the file transfer) ONE time. Now when I connect the phone and open File Transfer Studio it beeps once but doesn't show the folders on the phone. Yikes! Can you help??

    Thanks---

Have u tried just taking a straight mp3 and putting it on the phone to see if it plays? It could have been an error in the conversion process. I have had that happen, and the reason was b/c the wma that I was converting, it was a protected file. It converted to mp3, but it was protected, and wouldnt play. If u try a straight mp3 and it still doesnt work, then we know the problem is something else. Just check your phone software to make sure it is 24.2_00.37.00R. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks - I'll try it & let you know. Must go to work for while...rats!! Should be able to get back early evening.

    Again, thanks for your help!

BTW - I may be stuck, since File Transfer Studio no longer displays the phone folders (it only worked the first time). It now seems to search for the phone contents, beep once, and display nothing. What do you suggest? Did I just get lucky the first time & still need to do a SEEM edit?

Seem edits arent needed for the Sprint V3M. Liek I said, just check your phone's software version (in the main menu somewhere), and seeif it matches what I posted. if it does, then everything is in place to work. If it doesnt match, u should have the option to do a Software Update from your phone. When u get ready to try, just close each program, unplug the phone, etc. restart the phone and the comp. Then try again and seee how it goes. Good luck!

Seem edits aren't needed for the V3M? Please talk a little more about this. Why aren't they needed? From your earlier posts in the thread I got the idea that seem edits ARE used with the V3m. Now I'm more confused than ever!

Take a look at my post, they arent needed for the SPRINT V3M. You CAN do some seem edits, but they arent required to get MPT working with the Sprint V3m, but they ARE required for the Verizon V3m, hence the purpose of this thread.

do I need to flash my V3cm from version .03 to .04 if I want to use the calendar features in MPT? I am not sure why this feature is not working in MPT.

    thanks

    cincyball -

Things are better but there's still one small glitch. I've finally got the phone's folders displayed again in File Transfer. I moved a 4.1MB mp3 (unprotected) to the phone and it indeed plays and actually sounds pretty good.

But...the one ringer I really want isn't working. It's the sound of a crow. I converted the wav in Awave Batch Converter to a 192bitrate mp3, trying CBR and ABR encoding. The resulting mp3 shows "unprotected". Neither one of these mp3s will play on the phone. They both play on my PC.

If you feel like it, see if you can get it to work...as if you have nothing else to do! I would consider it a huge favor. Here's a link to the crow wav, exactly as I got it off the internet. If you can turn it into an mp3 that works, at least I know the problem might be my converter. Thanks...

    http://home.comcast.net/~msodat/crow2.wav (Right click-Save Target As...no offense)

Yes - all else is working smoothly. Your help was , of course, invaluable. Thanks for the timely responses.

All I can say is...I guess I'll have to eat crow.

BTW - what 4 converters do you use??

I tried Audacity, Nero Wave Editor, Blaze, and the MPT melody studio converter where u can take a file, crop it, and save it to the comp as an mp3. I didnt expect the MPT one to work, but figured one of the others would...

I have just gotten my wife a Verizon Motorola 325i flip phone (she doesn't like the RAZR!). I've been successful making the seem changes on my RAZR so that the Multimedia tab now works. I'd like to do the same for her 325i phone. The Motorola Mobile phone tools software recognizes her phone but the Multimedia tab is grayed out.

Can I use the same procedure on the 325i in terms of changing the seem files or is there another procedure to use? I'd appreciate the input! Thanks much.

It is possible. I think I read people have done it. I will check more on it tonight. The only limiting fator would be if MPT doesnt recognize the phone, but u said it sees it, just doesnt show the icon for Multimedia. It would prolly be the same seem edit to enable usb data transfer, but as for adding the M to enable Multimedia, I need to research that. I will let u know though!

Cindyball, I'm not sure if I've missed it somewhere in the forums, but I have a new VzW V3m, and can't seem to 'seem' it. I've loaded the Motorola Update tool, the updated drivers, and the update tool just says the my phone isn't fully powered/charged, and won't grab the info from the phone. Obviously I have attempted all it suggests, unplugging/pluggin, etc... and charged 2 different batteries fully and it still fails, thoughts?

It's Cincyball ;) but anyways, when it says that, just leave the program open and start running p2kseem. It will say Connected, and you can seem edit from there. This has been a common prob with the razr's lately. So just start MSU, when u get the "phone isnt fully powered up" just ignore it, minimzie MSU, open P2Kseem, and proceed with the process.

You must have an old version of MPT. What version are you running? But you are incorrect that Alltel blocks MPT, it is quite the opposite. Verizon is the onlt company that does this. You need MPT to be to the newest version. Let me know which one u are running.

4.36 is the newest. But if 4.21a works for you, then go ahead.

As soon as I try to open the MPT program on my desktop is when the error message appears. I can click it 3 times until it gives me the option of how I want to connect, i answer cable, follow the instructions and then get the message again. I do not know what you mean by what driver I installed. Thankx for your help, I feel like an idiot!

You have installed the drivers to make your phone be recognized by windows right? If so, your phone should be charging when u connect it to the comp. If you dont install the drivers, MPT wouldnt be able to find your phone.

Hey, sorry Cincyball. I'm starting to get really frustrated, my laptop now BSOD's when even attempting to launch MPT, my other system, that I was getting further on, now the update tool just hangs and never even gets to the "not enough power" screen. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, anyone have any tips/tricks? Thx, Robert

Not from me...last week I used this thread to help my semi-tech literate friend via phone use MPT 4.21a to transfer his photos from his RAZR V3m to his PCs. After spoon feeding the instructions one-by-one in a similiar way that you did with that guy, he was able to activate to see the Multimedia portion of MPT. I had Motorola Pebl from T-Mobile that I was able to use with MPT so I help him with navigation. PKSEEM and Motorola update tools I helped him blind (I did not install it on my system as I felt the instructions from the thread would be enough...I can personally attest that they were that good.)

Cincy, I want to thank you for what you did and I hope to use this forum for my own Windows Mobile 5 phone that hopefully will have the same type of help for me. I have a T-Mobile HTC Dash that I'm having minor issues with. But I will post those seperately in the proper area of the forum. On behalf of my very semi-tech literate friend...thank you Cincy for making things very clear on the RAZR...
