well I tried to restore phone to original state, v3m. read from phone first seem then loaded the original saved seem #1, wrote to phone. Did same step to second seem, appeared to go ok but phone shows still as v3c in upper right window. I re read phone again at seem 1 and the usb transfer/bluetooth option is now "off" so assuming that write to phone went through ok (since now changed back). Stumped what I am doing wrong with second seem then? Pounding my head against the wall actually, argh...
Okay, when u load seem 2827, and record 1, what are the BYTES u are loading? Also, once u load the seem, what OFFSET are u changing to try to add the missing "M" to the end.
Thats ok. Im not sure why it wont let u update. How are u trying to update? Are u running "live update" from the MPT folder on the hard drive? Or using the update configuration when MPT is open? B/c 4.36 is the newest.
try running MPT. Then when the phone image shows up, click the center buttom (menu) and go to settings, or options, or whatever it is and find Update Configuration. And it should search for updates.
using bytes 0022 and using offset 0006. I verified 0 2 3 6 checkmarked, rest off. it is located in the first colum, seventh pair of numbers/letters over. lower left screen says offset 0006
Yours should look like the pic I attached. Just to verify, your phone is a V3c? Or V3m? And this is the last seem edit we are trying to make stick so u can use MPT right?
phone originally v3m when new. currently v3c. I tried that seem first in order to use mpt's but since that wont work I thought best just to put phone back to v3m in case had to return it to verizon. I understand they frown on this. btw I editing that seem exactly as your photo shows.
when the instructions say to look in the upper right window I was looking at the uppermost info , under seem info. there it says v3c. I noticed in the same window when you seem edit to the far right v.3.mm.
Hey people! I'm new to all this and just got my razr V3m phone, and I downloaded ringers from ringtonejukebox.com (which I've used on past phones and the quality of the ringers is great!) The ringers show up in the folder MyContent, where I can play them, but it does not even give me the SET AS option. Do any of you know why it will not let me assign them? Someone told me that it might be because of the size of the ringers but they weren't sure. I'm seeing alot of post talking about Motorola Phone Tools and am wondering if that is the only possible way to get good quality ringers on this phone? (the sprints ringers are horrible!) If anyone knows about this and could help me out I would be so appreciative! Or if I am in the wrong forum for this can someone please direct me to where I should be??
I uninstalled / reinstalled mpt's, let it update to current version and it works fine now. Appreciate all your help /suggestions though.
I did notice one thing though - not sure a major issue. Windows will recognize the phone still as a V3C, is this normal or anything to be concerned about?
I am trying to run MSU but it always says device not fully powered up. I charged my phone all night last nite and the phone says charge complete. IS the phone supposed to be turned on or off while running MSU.
It should be ON, when using MSU. Once it says that message with MSU, leave it open and running, and fire up p2kseem, and it will then say connected. Then u can seem edit as necessary.
Perfectly normal. Windows see it is as the same phone even though the hardware is slightly different.
Cincy, I'm apparently back on track. Whatever I had done to prevent my connection seems to have gone away. I have two questions relative to your flashing to the ALLTEL system. First, in post #354, you respond to a query by saying that there is no easy way to get music into the modified V3M. without removing the chip, loading it via a computer, and re-inserting the chip again. Couldn't you just move files using Bitpim or PKcommander? Secondly, in post #389, Jsaffer has a query about charging that the 3M and the fact that the phone powers itself on when the Chargers removed from the wall socket, but left plugged into the telephone. Since I find the same behavior on my Verizon V 3M, and since I currently use a timer to turn the charger on and off, this is an anomaly I have some concern with. I wonder if you would, or perhaps did, try the experiment described in post #389 with your modified V3M to determine if the problem went away since your re-flash. Thanks again. JLOB
so even though MSU says "Your Device is not fully powered up" "Connect Device" i can still seem edit with p2k?
You could, but it would take FOREVER. To move ONE song using BitPim, MPT, or P2Kcommander, it takes about 4 minutes. However, taking the card and putting it in a card reader on a comp and dragging 250 songs will only take about 5 or 6 minutes in itself. A little better if u ask me. Now if u are jsut putting one song on here or there, it would be better to just do it with the card in the phone. It doesnt do this on my Alltel flashed V3m, but then again, it never did this before flashing either. I had heard this problem with the razr's that have the newest f/w on NEWC_1.09.02P You should be able to. Others have reported this to work.
One more question. On MSU i do not have my ESN#, IMEI#, Model # or the carrier on the left side of MSU. will this make a difference?
No, others have reported this to work. They have said when it gives the message "Your Device is not fully powered up", and you then open P2Kseem, it will show it as connected, and u can proceed ith seem edits. If u open P2Kseem, and it doesnt say connected, then you wont be able to.
On my pink razor, the firmware is NEWC_1.09.02P, but on my silver one, it's NEWC_1.05.0A, and they both manifest the same problem. By the way. In another thread, or in perhaps another forum, I read a statement that suggests that the 3VM does not play nicely with a 2GB card. I purchased a SanDisk 2GB card and the entire 2gb is recognized out of the box. I did not need to format it using the phone. JLOB
Yes, but the problem is that it will SEE 2 gb of storage, but it cannot ACCESS 2 gb of storage. If u were to fill it with music, the phone wouldnt be able to read more than 1gb. You can do as you please, but just giving you a heads up that NOBODY has been able to use a full 2gb card to its fullest extent. Also, you SHOULD format the card in the phone initially as it will put the correct tree structure on the card for the phone to access the correct folders when it looks to the card for files. No, this wont b/c the stock v3m plays .wma files that need to be converted in Windows Media Player. When it is synced, it dumps the music into the proper folder with the correct format, etc.
Cincy, I followed the instructions you posted on the first few posts. I am to thel last one where you restart your phone. I clicked restart phone and it doesn't say connected now in the lower left corner. Is there someting else i should do?
